Chuan
Hi guys, I read that molnija movements can be used as a straight drop in replacement for the 6497. I see lots of molnija pockets watches on Ebay, both new and old. How would i know if the movements in these pocket watches can be used? Any movement numbers or all the molnija movements can be used? Should be able to find some more threads on this but I can point you in the right direction. You are looking for the molnija 3602 which is roughly the same size as the unitas movements and a copy of the famous cortebert movements used in vintage panerai's made by rolex. these movements are in pocket watches on ebay for around $20-40 usually. post some pictures when you get further into this project if it takes off the ground. I have some 3602's laying around that I want to start soon. best of luck
FxrAndy
I think the hand sizes are different to 6497/8s though, I managed to get a nice vintage one with a microstella balance for about
