ryyannon
That's better....things seem to have calmed down. We're only a few posts over The Longest Thread now. If everyone does their part, we should fall behind soon.
KB
Great news ryy, do you think there is still time for this to be the shortest thread though Ken
ryyannon
Ken, if Admin could change the title to 'The Dumbest Ever' it would definitely be a winner. Success is sometimes knowing how to cut your losses....
dadog13
57 posts for the shortest thread ever vs 54 posts for the longest post ever.... something is wrong here....

I'm sure that Nanuq could explain in mathematical terms why this is not so - if he weren't off spending all his time fooling around with Miss Understood..... Admin
hmm....maybe if posting in here decucts 10 post from each member total post count *Starting EditPlus and starts to program a module that will......ey...what the hell am I doing*
dadog13
It's not at all unusual that 57 could be less than 54 ... considering that 64 equals 65.
jonthebhoy
85827p / 2261m * 40 = dp (1518) dp (1518) / 30 = at (50) Where p is the total number of posts (at time of posting). Where m is the total number of members (at time of posting). Where 40 is the mean number of members posting in a 24 hour period. Where dp is the total average daily posts. Where 30 is the mean number of active topics in a 24 hour period. Where at is the average thread length. Proving.........................................Hee Haw! Pugwash
It's not at all unusual that 57 could be less than 54 ... considering that 64 equals 65. It's worse when 1=2 a = b a2 = ab a2 -b2 = ab - b2 (a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b) a+b=b 2=1 ps. Your rectangle has a gap in the middle.
cornerstone
Those sneaky zeros. When a=b, a-b is always 0. 0 x 50 = 0 proves that 0/0 = 50 0 x 150 = 0 proves that 0/0 = 150 0 x 1309413904834 = 0 proves that 0/0 = 1309413904834 Dividing by 0 disnae work. More fun: -2 = -2 4 - 6 = 1 - 3 4 - 6 + 9/4 = 1 - 3 + 9/4 (2 - 3/2)2 = (1 - 3/2)2 2 - 3/2 = 1 - 3/2 2 =
Pugwash
Dividing by 0 disnae work. [...] (2 - 3/2)2 = (1 - 3/2)2 I'd love to see how you think you should get here
cornerstone
I'd love to see how you think you should get here From 4 - 6 + 9/4 = 1 - 3 + 9/4 ?
Pugwash
From 4 - 6 + 9/4 = 1 - 3 + 9/4 ? to (2 - 3/2)2 = (1 - 3/2)2 At least I used cool Fibonacci numbers instead of the wussy "0=0" trick.
Pugwash
instead of the wussy "0=0" trick. For the record, it's a wussy "infinity = infinity" trick, but I get your point.
cornerstone
to (2 - 3/2)2 = (1 - 3/2)2 So you're admitting you're stumped? (I joke, I joke!) Of course it's a trick. You're right it doesn't work in that direction, but the two equations can be equal (2 - 3/2)2 = (1 - 3/2)2 can equal 4 - 6 + 9/4 = 1 - 3 + 9/4 (2 - 3/2)2 = (1 - 3/2)2 can also equal 2 - 3/2 = 1 - 3/2 Square roots can have a positive or negative answer. Square root of 9 is 3; but it is also -3. @Nanuq: you need to think of a PIN that Miss U can't guess..... Any ideas anyone?
Pugwash
(2 - 3/2)2 Woah, I get it. You squared it. I thought you were multiplying by 2.

Have any of you ever been assigned a really crap PIN number by your bank? Last year my bank sent me a letter with my new credit card PIN number. The number was my four digit postcode written on the envelope! Still - easy to remember! So to conclude - I recommend that Nanuq chooses either my postcode or whatever is tattooed on Ryyannon's arm to make it easier to remember.
