I dont see a difference between this and the old one, and i was playing with mine today, oh mine does not have any rotor engraving, but appart from that, if they had reworked that movement it would put a wonderfull watch on a lot of wrists! They would have to prove that it was better though!

Luciky mine still works great thank dog

I can only imagine how fast this would fly off of the 'shelves' if this came with a properly manufactured jewelled movement. This is my grail watch, I think I'd buy one in each colour! If the price is reasonable, and they haven't (which is more likely) I may be tempted to buy it and send it off for the graphite treatment...it's such a beautiful watch!

Ohhh it would be fantastic if they would work on reiability of this movement.

This one would be on the way to me in no time - for my girlfriend.

The different is the dial. If you look at the outer dial where they divide the seconds. This one only has 1/4 sub seconds whereas the old one has 1/5 sub seconds line. Also the new one has brushed caseback. This version will be closer to gen. I would hope they would fix the movement too.

Personally I don't buy any of it, marketing hype.

Truth be known, there were already a number of extra jewels in these models, at least in the latest versions of seconds at 6. I think 29 is actually too low a number, it's probably more like 34 or more jewels.

The problem has always been, and continues to be the design, you can put all the jewels you want in the movement, but when the gear sits in the jewel but is sitting flat on the movement bridge and rubbing against the movement as it turns, all the jewels in the world aren't going to fix that friction.

The fact they use 5 instead of 3 gears to get the seconds at 6, and one of those gears can never be jewelled since it sits in the center of the movement and has a ton of friction, means any upgrades are pointless.

Use 3 gears only for the modification, have all of them pivoted in JEWELS like they should be, and your problem is fixed. Easy, simple, but they don't seem willing to do what it takes...

Well I couldn't resist, placing my order for a black SS version. Finally I will have my grail watch, I think in the future I will still have to pick up a white dial with gold numbers, but until then, I can't wait to sport this rep!!!

I would say, get a good strap for it and send it to chief for AR. It will turn out wonderful!

Zig, didn't you draw something up in regards to the added gears for this movement? Maybe this will shed some light on the issue at hand... I agree with you that this is all hype...

However, when b16a2 gets his, wears it for a couple days, and sends it to you... LOL (kidding) we might find out if anything has indeed changed!

this model has been one of my personal favs and i wish they would throw in a reliable engine... is the genuine based on the 7750?

Glad to see your always monitoring this stuff for us :) - maybe they got a batch at a discount and put them out again as new. I know they have done that with other models :)

As soon as it arrives it will be sent off for graphite treatment and a movement inspection, so hopefully soon we can have some conclusion as to what movement mods have been done to this. I'm not sold by the claim that the movement is much more reliable than the predecessor, a proper replication of the modded IWC movement would be wishful thinking (especially seeing though the gen uses 31 jewels). I am hoping the movement is improved in some way though, otherwise my cynical ways would have been duped by a marketing ploy :)
