Your not going to damage anything with this problem

this is encouraging -- i've been meaning to pose this question for a while now, as the same thing happens with one of my gens :o

Have you checked if the crown spring mech is working first before you replace the stem, remove the crown and stem and see if the part where the stem screws into, copmresses into the rest of the crown,

I am assuming that this steelfish did not always wind the rotor,

But then again just do what Z says and leave it.
