Rolexman Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Great write up! I'm always contemplating about this one. The size is somewhat holding me back. Could you post a wrist shot as some icing on the cake?
PaulVanDyk Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 NICE REVIEW! Me wants one! I hope they get the white dial version out soon =))
b16a2 Posted May 12, 2009 Author Report Posted May 12, 2009 I can't unfortuately as I don't have access to this watch (see intro to the review).....I think there might be a wrist shot on RG under the name of Digitalnrg though.
morlock Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 My friend, thanks for your kind words about my reviews. Sorry, you could not get your rep yet, mine is still waiting to be ordered, I could resit the By-Tor's review of the Ebel 1911 and I ordered it instead of the TAG. Thanks for sharing your thought about this new rep, great writing as usual. The factories moved really fast on this new version, in little more than 6 months from the 41 mm version launch they come with a huge improved version, with the right size and correct rotor. If I though the first version was great, based on your review I could say the new one is awesome. Thanks again.
MasterOfPuppets Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Great review, thx alot i gotta get me one of them TAGs!
lazarini Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Splendid write up J, another great one to add to the ones u prepared before, cheers! Laz
lazarini Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 This replaces the previous carrera or its a completely new model that will co exist with the old one? Laz
b16a2 Posted May 13, 2009 Author Report Posted May 13, 2009 My friend, thanks for your kind words about my reviews. Sorry, you could not get your rep yet, mine is still waiting to be ordered, I could resit the By-Tor's review of the Ebel 1911 and I ordered it instead of the TAG. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the Ebel, it is a watch that has really grown on me over the past 6 months! This replaces the previous carrera or its a completely new model that will co exist with the old one? Laz The old Carrera is still available to buy from new, but I am guessing that in a few years, it might be phased out with this one becoming their new and only line of Carreras. I don't know how it will go down with the hardcore Tag fans because the styling of the old one is loved by all. I think because of this Tag may continue the older style for a little longer and won't go pulling the plug straight away, we'll see though!
801run Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Great review! Thanx! Guys, the white-dial version of this watch just popped up today on Josh's site! I've been waiting for the white one (simply because almost all my watches are .. black =) ), tempting to go on and place an order
Toadtorrent Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Great write-up. A top watch indeed. Fantastic contribution!!
By-Tor Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Excellent work. Thanks. I will add this review to the TAG Guide of course.
801run Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 White dial is now available. I couldn't help myself, I pulled the trigger on the white one yesterday =)
ammandel Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Hey J, nice work! Easy read and well illustrated as always. Looks like all this is missing is the Cotes de Geneve decoration on the rotor When the factories start doing that.. well.. haha
PaulVanDyk Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 any word on the necessity of Day/Date wheel upgrade to the ETA ones? 1
AstroAvia Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 any word on the necessity of Day/Date wheel upgrade to the ETA ones? Late reply. I now own the watch previously owned by digitalnrg. Yes, the day and date wheels need to be upgraded, even though the date wheel is the best I've ever seen in a replica. I opened the watch and synchronized the day and date wheels so they both now change at midnight. And I also noticed that the minute marker numerals are not all perfectly aligned. If you take a closer look at the rep pictures posted by the OP, you'll see that the 6 and 0 at 60 are misaligned; so are the 1 and 0 at 10, 1 and 5 at 15 and the 2 and 0 at 20. The 60 and 15 are the most noticeable though. Further, the numbers imprinted on the chrono subdials are crooked and rougher than the corresponding on the gen watch. But most of all, the one flaw that bugs me is the incorrect logo on the dial.
