vaccum
Many of the members asked if they can do it...so I am posting some pics to show how I do it...THIS IS MY WAY OF DOING IT. This is the watch a 177h from Joshua Crown Guard and strap removed Next back case removal Once the case back is removed make shure you unwind the barrel do it slowly to prevent any damage, hold the wratchet with the screwdriver and let the crown turn slowly between your fingers Now is time to remove the crown locate this screw ...remember to tighten it after crown is removed Locate the retaining clip and screw and remove it with your tweezers Be carefull not to drop it! Now is time to remove your movementfrom the case Place the movement on the movement holder replace the crown and remove hands locate the two screws that hold your dial in place, 1/2 turn and dial is off Now is time to remove the spring, cannon pinon and hour wheel Here are the two parts to compare longers are the new ones, shorter the old ones Old New Now do everything in reverse order and you get this results Thanks for watching! vaccum Edited September 17, 2006 by vaccum

RWG Technical
Great work, and good how-to...I would like to see more of these. I did up a similar post about a year ago, here is what I ended up with... How to replace the cannon pin and hour wheel... I keep noting the same theme in various posts, members looking how to do or how something works... I can't help but wonder if anyone is even noting the pinned posts in the "Experts Area" section of the board...it would seem not, as your comments "...members asking how to do this..." leads me to believe that no one is aware of the toomstone information already here... the "How-to-install longer cannon and hour wheels" has been on this site since it started up...why is it, and others being missed? It seems as if the idea was a good one (having a separate are for this stuff), but it's not accomplishing what it was intended to do...inform the members. I go in once in a while and see how many "views" there are of my information posts, and it never changes...usless information, as no one is even aware of it, or reading it...as proven once again by you having to make this up to inform members...even you were not aware of my original post...something to think about, especially for planned or future posts...why bother? Need to think this one over... RG

RG The Zigmeister, I have tried reading many of your informational posts, but for some reason many of them seem to have been corrupted and are full of unreadable characters. I don't know why this is, but it is a shame because there is alot of good information there that I'd like to be able to access. The cannon pin tutorial you linked to is fine, though. Perhaps the board mods can comment? Edited September 19, 2006 by chieftang

I would like to see more of them, as any new informative posts are right up my alley... I see your doing some watchmaking stuff as well, glad to hear it, always good to learn and practice new skills. Keep it up, there is a need for reliable members to help others with watchmaking and upgrades. Not sure if I will give up doing the posts, but will have to come up with a better way of making the info noticeable to the new members who would like to read it. Jimster
Very thorough post. Thanks. Question?? If I want to install a set of Davidsen Capped Hands -- can that be done by removing the bezel and crystal from the top of the case? I've never worked on a Pam case but have experience in other watches. Thanks Jim
