  1. Hi All

I got a dssd 21j (v5 seller says with real sapphire)the dial does not look clear through the crystal. It looks ever so sligthly foggy in certain angles.Any ideas?should i send the watch back?.I have a gmt11c which is very sharp and clear.

    Regards

    Did I get it right?

    A V5 with 21j movement?

I thought it`s only available with asian or swiss 2836-2

  2. As far as I know the secs at 12 on AP's are all the same movement. The basic movement is well designed according to folks around here but the principal issue is getting one that is not all gummed up. On this particular movement I think we just have to budget a service into the cost. It reduces the number of watches we can buy but ensures that what we got actually lasts. :)

    @ kruzer

who would you recommend for that movement service ?

  3. The problem with the review at repgeek is, that it comes to the wrong conclusion.

I had both + a gen dial from watchco.australia and I can say,

the better version is definitly NOT the Silix VCO, but the Josh/Trusty version.

File datewindow to a trapezoid shape,

get the cross from the Silix Vacs006 VC (an old 37mm version)

and you have the best you will find.

  4. White dials have better lume but subdials are too dark. Quite a give away.

Now that black dials have lume (weak but at least there is some lume) I think black is the way to go. It also makes the date window location flaw less visible.

As for bezel - Rubberclad looks great but it has a thin layer of rubber that can easily be scratched. Personally I actually prefer the look of brushd steel over rubber so my choice now is a black ss themes with ss bezel and rubber strap.

    Thanks!
