  1. Pictures of the movement would help a LOT. You may be able to pick up a replacement movement for very cheap. Post several pictures of the movement and maybe it can be identified.
  2. I highly recommend having it serviced. If you prefer a new A7750 there are a few options: Ajoesmith (over on RepGeek) used to carry A7750 movements (he may still have some). I think his price was around $125. Cousins UK also carries A7750 movements (PN: CH3LZF2M). They run around $131 (+ shipping). If there's another, cheaper source, it would be great if someone would specifically identify it or post a link.
  3. I'm working on having some printed right now. They've been at the printer for the past 2 weeks, so I hope to have them back soon. I'll add you to the list if you'd like (I'm only having a few made).
  4. Nice work gtanak. I'm waiting to see more!
  5. Just swap out your datewheel, it should be pretty straight-forward.
  6. That looks like a C13719. You can get them from Cousins UK for around $16 (plus shipping).
  7. The white face looks nice, but I prefer the Roman Numerals on your watch. I also like the contrast yours has on the dial (the white tends to wash out a bit).
  8. Beautiful watch! You definitely won't have to worry about anyone confusing that with a rep! I was just looking at a similar version (with a white face) over on WatchUseek (link). Pretty tempting for $1950.
  9. One other option is to have your A7750 fixed/serviced. There's someone on RWI (KATT) who can do it and might not charge too much. http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/forumdisplay.php/katts-watch-repair-188.html
  10. I never like Rolex's for many of the reasons outlined in the original post, but... My Dad buys new a Quartz Rolex every time he's in Mexico (at least once a year). I was tired of him wearing such cr@ppy replicas, so I bought him a nice GMT Master II. Turns out, he just likes cheap watches and preferred my (unworn) Casio over the Rolex. With a GMT II sitting one my shelf, I decided I'd try it out. I have to say, that I like it a lot more than I thought I would. It fits well, and looks nice. It doesn't get as much wrist time as my Breitlings, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it. Well...that round of golf really tired me out... time for my nap.
  11. Very cool, thanks for sharing. I've noticed this before but don't have enough experience to notice it as unusual. I'll definitely keep an eye out for it now!!
  12. Just curious if anyone has had any luck replacing the Bezel on a Super Avenger (since the last post in 2008). I'm hoping that someone has had luck changing it.
  13. It's another beautiful sunny day here, a great excuse to get out the gen and take a picture (life is good).
  14. There's a nice guide on how to disassemble and reassemble a 7750. If you'll pm me your email, I'll send it to you. There is, however 'technique' in doing it that they don't explain (so you don't have springs flying across the room). That's just something that you'll have to learn by doing. If you're going to tear it down, it would be good to clean and lubricate it at the same time (but you need the right tools and lube). It's not a movement for the faint of heart, but it's a nice challenge. You'll run into problems, but you'll learn so much.
  15. The good thing is that you're trying (and learning). The bad thing is that if you messed up the keyless works, it's not an 'easy' fix, but in repairing it yourself you'll learn a LOT. I suppose the easiest thing is to send it out to be repaired, but where's the fun in that?
  16. I saw on another forum someone who's selling a brand new, Genuine Accutron (with an ETA 7750) for $300 (it's not me and I don't know the person selling it). I just wanted to make the information available in case someone needs an ETA 7750 for a project. It seems like a descent price for a 7750, although in this case, you get the entire watch. He might take Paypal if you ask him. http://watchgeeks.net/showthread.php?t=68336
  17. Very cool, thanks for the link. It would suck if these don't fit on a rep.
  18. I agree, it dilutes (and devalues) the 'SWISS MADE' label.
  19. Thanks for the clarification. I understand now that the ST-16 is NOT a clone movement. I'm curious to know how you feel about the fact that an ST-16 is 'massaged' in Switzerland and labeled as a 'SWISS MADE' CL888?
  20. What sucks is that a 2813 has 21 jewels, the CL888 only has 18! What's stopping someone from moving to Switzerland, buying Chinese movements, tearing them down, cleaning them up and re-assemble them using a few new parts (Oscillating weight, for example) and legally calling them SWISS movements? It sounds like that's essentially what's going on here.
  21. I know there's been some discussion on other forums about this, but I didn't see anything here. I'm interested in your opinions. There was a sale on the Jacques Lemans GU223D yesterday. The price seemed great for a watch with an automatic Swiss movement ($168 shipped), so I ordered one. In the mean time, I sent an email to Jacques Lemans asking exactly what movement was in the watch (on their website all they say is that it's Swiss). The response was: "Hello -The below mentioned styles comes with a Swiss Made automatic movement , caliber CL888" Not being familiar with that particular movement, I did some research. It's a very interesting movement, which seems to blur the line between what's a clone and what's Swiss. Technically it's Swiss (according to the strictest definition), but it appears to be (essentially) a ST-16. I don't know how to feel about this. Part of me doesn't care if it's a clone (I own several for gosh sakes), but the other part of me doesn't like that they're buying most of the parts from China and only doing some of the work in Switzerland (only enough to make it technically SWISS). I wonder if more (low end) manufacturers will start doing this. I, personally, find it a bit misleading, but it comes down to the definition of WHAT IS SWISS. Here's a link to more information about the CL888 if you're interested: http://amateureconblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/is-claro-888-eta-2824-clone.html
  22. There's a good chance I'll be in Denmark (Hillerod) Aug 15-22. I'm tagging along with my wife, who's going for work (I can work anywhere as long as I have an internet connection). It would be fun to meet up with some fellow watch enthusiasts (especially if you play Badminton ). Is there anyone in that area?
  23. I hope you had a great vacation! It's good to have you back. This is such a great opportunity!! I didn't know you had any time available. I'm sure this opening won't last long. Now I just need to find a watch that I can send to you.
  24. Excellent review (I wish I had a gen to compare mine to). It just makes me love my Skyland even more.
  25. My wife likes the Concord Saratoga. The Watchery has them on sale for $1291. http://www.thewatchery.com/Concord/Watch/0310470
