  1. Otto Frei has ETA 2836-2 Nickel Plated movements, for $138.00. http://www.ofrei.com/page893.html#2736 If it were me, I'd check with Ajoesmith to see if he has any Asian 2836-2 movements. Also indicate the watch you have (it may not be a standard 2836-2).
  2. I've purchased three watches from WatchEden. Two were exactly what I expected (good, inexpensive watches). The third (a Cartier Santos 100), did not match the picture on the website. I sent it back for exchange and I'm currently waiting for the correct watch, which will probably take several weeks. I'll let you know how it works out. Their prices are good, shipping is surprisingly fast and the quality (of what I ordered) is quite good. The customer service isn't the best, but if you're persistent, you can get them to work things out (It took me a while to get them to exchange the Santos 100). I'd buy from them again, but I'll stick to watches below $150, until I feel more comfortable with them (just to limit my risk).
  3. The strap width for a BCE is 22mm (at the case).
  4. It was probably purchased from Josh at Perfect Clones: hxxp://www.joshwatch.com/ I think the first thing to do is to figure out which movement is inside. If you can't figure it out from the Perfect Clones website, maybe you can post pictures of the movement.
  5. You giving away that Cajun Gator strap by any chance? I love that thing! Ok, how about... 1650/3500 1750/3500 1850/3500
  6. Do you know what movement is currently in the Watch?

    PAM 113

I've wanted a 113 for a long time, and today, I finally got one! I'm so used to automatics, however, that I shook it (to wind it) for about a minute before I remembered it was a hand-wind (duh!). I know there are some flaws, but to me, they're very small. Some AR would definitely help, but as it is, it's a nice watch (especially considering it cost just over $100). The lume actually looks pretty good too (which is a pleasant surprise).
  8. After further examination, it appears that the markers at 3:00 and 9:00 are the wrong length and the movement (back side of the watch) is completely wrong (not such a big deal to me, since I don't normally take my watches off to show people).
  9. I'd been looking for a good rep of this model and hadn't been able to find one (thanks for the heads-up). I really like the look of this watch and am really tempted to go for the Time4Direct version. I'm not a Panerai expert by any means, but shouldn't the date font be white on black (instead of black on white)? Other than that, do you guys notice any obvious flaws?
  10. I've replaced the datewheel in my DG4813 and if I can do it you should definitely be able to. It's a lot like replacing the datewheel on a 7750 (http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=37058&hl=). The main thing I learned is to work on a towel and be really careful with that little spring. The screws and that spring are really easy to loose. Good luck.
  11. For me the last 2 weeks I've been wearing my Quartz IWC (I love this watch even though it's not perfectly accurate). I wanted to take something on my Honeymoon that would keep accurate time and I didn't have to worry about, this watch was perfect. Yes, my wife knows what a 'watch nerd' I am, but she married me anyway (go figure). I won't tell you how many pictures of my watch I took while on my honeymoon.
  12. Yea, it looks to me like the ink was too thick. I don't know if you can see, but there are also little "streamers" emanating from some of the numbers. I tried to scrape them off, but couldn't get them all. By the way, chieftang, that photo is EXTREMELY helpful. It was very kind of you to post it, thanks!
  13. Bad news, I just put one in my BCE and the alignment is off!! I made it very clear that alignment was critical, but the printer still screwed up. I'm going to send them back to be re-printed (since I've already paid for the printing plates and alignment fixture). This time, I'm going to also ask them to go easy on the ink, these look like there's too much ink (they're too thick IMO). What do you all think of the text color? Should it be lighter? By the way, it's really hard to find a sub-dial hand on a carpeted floor! I need to stop dropping things.
  14. Well... I finally got my datewheels back from the printer. Comments?
  15. I am SO close to having these done, but the printer keeps giving me excuses why they're not. Today it was because of his sinus infection. Yesterday it was because one of his machines went down. Friggen excuses. The upshot of the delay is that I was able to adjust the color so that the text is closer to black. I went to an AD and checked the text myself and it definitely looks black. I told the printer that I absolutely need them in my hands by this Friday (9/19/08)... we'll see.
  16. I ordered from WatchEden (first time). They're newly listed on RWI.
  17. Apparently it's the august moon festival. Does anyone know when that will be over (I want my watches).
  18. I placed an order for 2 watches last Friday (9/12/08). I inquired about a tracking number and was told that it's a Chinese Holiday... "Thank you for your letter. As these days are public holidays, the shipping company is not on business. We will ship your packages out asap and inform you the tracking no." Does anyone else know about a Chinese Holiday? I couldn't find anything on line. Anyway... it's just something to keep in mind if you're placing an order.
  19. I finally broke down and bought a rep for my fiance, a Bvlgari Assioma D. We looked at a lot of watches and this is the one she liked the best. It's not the perfect rep, there are flaws, but nothing that a lay-person would notice. It looks better in person than I expected. It came with a box set which made it a very nice presentation. She has really small wrists (I had to remove 5 links). I was afraid that it would look too big on her, but because of the curved case, it fits her very well. I bought it from Josh, and I must say that it was a great transaction. I placed the order on 9/5/08 and I received the package on 9/10/08... I live in Southern California... pretty amazing!
  20. @bwhitesox, I appreciate your input (as hard is it is to hear at this point). I'll just have to wait to see how the date wheels look installed in a watch. If the text is too light, I'll have them re-printed. It may not do much good to show the color on a computer screen, but, this is a sample of the color I'm using.
  21. Very nice reference, thanks for sharing.
  22. I got the color from the suggestions of other members and from photos of gen's. Unfortunately, I don't have a gen of my own for reference. It appears, however, that the color is just slightly off black (just slightly). I know it's pretty-much black, but like I said, I want this to be perfect. According to takashi ( http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...76748&st=20 ) "the color is a dark gunmetal grey color (not black)" Also, check out this thread. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=78481&hl=
  23. They're supposed to be done by the end of this week (9/12/08). The supplier told me that he'd have pictures for me by tomorrow evening, which I'll post. It's taken a long time, because I've had difficulty finding a shop that can produce the quality I want (I really want them to be perfect). The font should look great (with serifs), in addition, I paid extra to have the color adjusted so that it's a very dark grey. It should be virtually indistinguishable from the gen. I made extra based on the responses I got in this thread. It appears that some of those people decided instead to purchase lello datewheels, so I'll probably have a few left over.
  24. I took the watch to a specialty tool place and asked them if they knew of a tool that would fit the screw. I had to order an entire set (almost $40), just to get one bit, but it fits perfectly.
  25. I'll most likely be searching for a caseback tool next. Thank goodness I haven't needed one yet, the watch has run flawlessly since I bought it (it's one of the nicest reps I own). I can't wait to put a nice leather band on it.
