  1. Man, sweet-looking tools like that make me glad I have opposable thumbs!
  2. Many thanks, offshore. I just may have to give the Horotec drivers a try. I do like the few tools from them I have, and the crystal service dept of my supplier swears by the top of the line Horotec press and uses it exclusively. I have been eying that one, but it's really $$$$!
  3. WU fees are not small, but I have bought all my watches from Trusty, Joshua, River, Sean and Silix using WU with no issues at all. The only thing about using a CC through their website is that I found I was charged for currency conversion 2x, so they make a few extra $ off each transaction. It's simpler to go to a WU office.
  4. Yes, and just like Bergeon, you pay dearly for the carousel itself. I have the Bergeon 3044, and I know a lot of the cost was the carousel and spare blades. I'm tempted to replace just the screwdrivers with the new rubber grip ones they have out, and buying them without any stand will make it almost worthwhile. That being said, the March sale flyer from my local supplier has the Bergeon set of 9 screwdrivers with a rotating stand for $90CDN.
  5. I don't know if they would necessarily be knock-offs at that price. My local supplier has that set for $105CDN (probably increased slightly from this older price list I'm looking at, but still, that's like $25US )
  6. I think also that the people who go over their watch with a 10x loupe after getting it back from being worked on should do the same before they send it. It might temper some of their outrage.
  7. I don't know about the top movies of all genres, but when it comes to sports movies, Rudy is tops. That kid had so much heart you just knew that years later, he and Frodo would succeed.
  8. Well, I didn't get banned, but I did get slightly chastised, and my comment got the other one deleted as well. Your thread over there now stands as it was intended.
  9. That was me, actually. In fact cluelessness does run rampant on those forums. I especially like cracking a pint or 3 and wading through the "Rolex vs. Omega" or the "Breitling vs. Omega" threads.
  10. Total lack of class. I couldn't help but comment 'over there'. I have been there for several years, but rarely post. I mostly buy from the Sales Corner.
  11. Case clamps, not movement holders. I have bought a couple of sets of assorted case clamps, and I don't think any of them would work if you need them unusually long. In fact, none of them are big enough to work on my gen Speedmaster Mk II if I were to lose one of them. I managed to get one to work on a DW Daytona, but if large is what you're after, you may be best off making your own.
  12. No, it stays put between the lugs perfectly, as does a gen PO rubber strap on my rep PO. Only one set of holes in the lugs of the SMP are used. I don't know if it's the same set as the bracelet, but I think so. I'm now curious as to what the second set is for.
  13. 1 atmosphere of pressure = 101kPa (approx) or about 14psi, or about 28ft of water
  14. It's in really rough shape. Either someone put that bridge on very shortly after the movement was made, or someone is an expert at aging things. It appear to have the exact same patina as the rest of the movement parts. BTW, I received my IWC 79320 movement from you today, concepta. I just thought a public acknowledgment might go further than a private one for future sales. Thanks! It's stunning, btw, and has a completely different sound than any of the A7750 movements. Just for fun, I'm going to stick it on my Greiner, and see what sort of timing trace I get. My bet is that it will look a whole lot cleaner than those of my DW mystery movements!
  15. Last time I was in Norway (1976), I couldn't get over the drain arrangement for the tubs in the hotels. I had first seen it in Copenhagen. The water entered the tub from the ring around the drain rather than a faucet. When draining the tub, the water first runs onto the tile floor, then down a floor drain. I take it this was the arrangement your room had? Also, the fire escape in the hotel in Copenhagen was a knotted rope that you had to throw out the window. The weight of the rope coming onto the anchor point would set off the alarm. Fun stuff!
  16. I believe Bergeon suggests using a thin polyurethane (plastic) sheet between the aluminum die and the crystal. I would expect that would protect the AR?
  17. I never thought to try this stuff on my Rolex bracelets. It's the only lube that quiets my track bikes' drivetrains acceptably.
  18. I bought the strap and clasp from someone on TZ, but it can be ordered through any Omega dealer, although it is not cheap. I believe the part nos. are as follows; blue strap (20mm) - 9798.80.82 clasp - ST1506.832.117 Beware, though. The gen case has 2 sets of lug holes, and without taking mine apart again, I can't tell you at the moment if one gets used for the bracelet and one for the rubber strap, or if the 2nd set is for another possibility entirely.
  19. You should see the genuine folded Oyster bracelet. It is only 2mm thick and tapers to 12mm at the clasp. The clasp itself is 14mm wide!
  20. I've been watching it too, and I'm surprised how many have bid on it already with so much time left. I had been planning to bid at the last minute, but have abandoned the idea. Best of luck, stilty.
  21. TWB straps are exactly as advertised. Having met Kurt in person for a face to face strap buy, I can say I have complete confidence in him and his product. The watches he pictures on his Ebay store all belong to him, btw.
  22. http://www.classicwatchparts.com/watch/ind...s/services.html They did a beautiful job about 2 years ago on a gen folded Oyster bracelet of mine.
  23. I always felt that rubber would sort of 'stick' to the skin and pull hairs, but last summer, my titanium Oris TT1 with the rubber band became my daily wearer. I'm now a big fan. Cleaning after a sweaty bike ride or yard work is much easier than a bracelet too.
  24. Yes, it is indeed - purchased a couple of years ago from Thomasng for a ridiculously low price and fully serviced by Omega last month (sorry, Zig).
  25. I just had this strap arrive today. I think it improves this watch quite a bit. It doesn't feel nearly so heavy and is really comfortable. Sorry about the obvious dust in the photos. It was too darn cold out to take the time to stage it properly.
