  1. 316F has a higher Carbon content, almost 3X as much as 316L and a little more Silicon. Without getting into precipitation of Chromium, grain structure and boundries, blah blah blah
  2. The 7753 date wheel is bigger in diameter thus making it further outboard then the 7750. This will cause the dial window to shadow over the DW numbers.
  3. Welcome! Take your time around here, read the collectors reviews, read what all the members have to say and find some thing you are really going to enjoy! Then share your thoughts with us. Can’t wait to go back to Poland! Beautiful Country!
  4. Welcome! Like Lani said, do A LOT of reading here. I have spent hours reading threads in our knowledge section. There is not only the best info here but the most complete, intelligent and outside the box thinking on how to do everything. I have been unable to find the wealth of knowledge that is here, any place else. Myself being a engineer and loving all things mechanical, I have found hanging out here to be the perfect source for doing anything you could dream of. I am yet to find another forum (even ones that deal with Gen watches) that has the level of knowledge that some of our members like The Zigmeister, Francisco, Lani, Toad, the list goes on and on, have here.
  5. Agree on the visual aspect. Disagree on the Comfort. On my Rep anyway, the clasp (where Breitling is inscribed) had a lot less sweep to it then the Gen causing it to not wrap the wrist as nicely. I found it to be comfortable, but not as comfortable as the Gen. Maybe someone can post a pic of the rep bracelet for a comparison. Gen. Pro 2
  6. No not necessarily. You MAY have to do that in order to make it fit. Or you may have to lightly work over the end link with a file to make it fit. No way of knowing until you get it. I just measured my Gen bracelet end link. Width: 0.865" = 21.971mm Spring bar hole center to lug & case corner: .130 = 3.3mm If you can measure this and are close, you should be golden with no work!
  7. I agree with Agrippa on the Breilting rep straps. They are very good! Say a 8-8.5 with a Gen being a 10. You may have issues finding a Rep Croco strap as I have only seen leather ones or leather with the Croco pattern embossed, but not a real croco. There are also a large number of Breilting style strap aftermarket manufactures available. If you want it that bad, you can always get a Gen. The Breitling Croco, though $$$$ is slicker then greased owl sh!t.
  8. Take a measurement between the lugs. Should be a hair bigger then 22mm. If so the Gen will fit in width. The only other difference is the distance between the case and spring bar holes. With a little time a love you can make this fit as well but should be pretty close from the get go. Maybe the little bending of the spring bar might be required. Authentic Watches is over priced on their bracelets and straps. Just look at their price on a Pro 1 Diver strap $275! The AD sells them for about $100! I would go to a AD if you have one available. They should be able to do at least 10-15% off MSRP on the bracelet. Just keep the rep at home.
  9. Between the Reps and a few Gens.......just enought to stay under my wifes radar but not enough to feed a small country.
  10. HackR, you just made me call my AD. No SOSF in silver. Black only and I already have the blue one! SOB!
  11. First Lani, now Red. I would have sooner vomited at the site of a silver faced Breilting on a Brown strap. Now I want one! Gorgeous!
  12. Yes, La Joux-Perret! Thanks! I was thinking La Joux....some thing. I have always wondered about ETA's COSC "Grade" movements. Are they COSC out of the box or do they have the capability of COSC but need to be "tuned" to the requirements. Breilting & Tag upgrades the ETA movements with Glycur balance & Anachron (sp) main spring. Breilting also manufacture their own escapement & pallet forks (Per Revolution Watch mag., where they speak of the new B01), along with upgraded plates and bridges for upgraded reliability. The fact that Breilting made many of their own components, helped them move into the manufacturing of their B01 as they just expanded onto their movement facility. To my understanding Tag does not do as much as Breilting (This is one reason I feel Tags are not worth their asking price)On some of Tags newer Carrera pieces they replace the entire ETA balance/escapement system with their own module and crank up the movement to 36,600 BPH. Just search the net for some of their new watches and you can read about how Tag accomplishes this.
  13. I like the Tungsten Grey version much better.
  14. Getting ETA parts should not be any issue. ETA is all together stopping the supply of movement blanks to companies outside of their Swatch Group. However they will still supply complete movements to which ever manufacture wants them. For instance Breitling and Tag will not be able to get their movement bases to which they install they own balance and other components making them COSC grade. Whereas companies like B&R, buy the movement from ETA and slap them into their watches, maybe they decorate the rotor a little bit, but they are still buying the entire movement from Swatch. This really is going to open the door for other companies like Sellita and the others (Forget the company that makes movements for Hublot).
  15. If you get good results from this, start backing the TPD down to 650 as excessive TPD can cause wear in the auto winding mech.
  16. When you get them, let me know what you think of the gator and calf as I have only gotten the shark skin from OT. Thanks man! Mike
  17. I was checking out his site last night and getting some ideas. Thanks! Strap measurements at the watch head: Gen Breitling Croco: .265" OT Shark Skin: .290" The Official Time is thicker through out and well padded. I am really happy with the ones that I have. Very well made for the price, since and supple unlike the Gens which take some time to break in. Let me know if thre is anything else I can help with.
  18. Can you get it in blue surround instead of black?
  19. I believe your Cartier uses Caliber 8510. This movement needs 650 Turns Per Day and winds in both directons. Set your winder to 650 TPD in either direction or both and you should be set. If this is still not do doing it, you may have a mechanical issue with your movement requiring service.
  20. Ask and you shall receive. Official Time Blue Shark Strap Gen Breitling Blue Croco My 22mm straps for my SOSF in a Official Time strap box. If anyone has leads on a Gen Breitling Blue Buffalo strap, I am looking for one.
  21. About freaking time!!! Guess they got the issue resolved with the belts shredding. I remember first reading about this watch 5 years ago, when retail was predicted to be around $6K. So much for that number. Still, from a engineering stand point, the piece is amazing.
  22. I have a couple shark skin straps from Official Time and they are heavily padded and slightly thicker then the Gen Croco. I have as well. Really impressed with Official Times products, nice craftsmanship and fit very well. Gen Croco. Official Time Shark Skin.
