  1. Hi Everyone

I've been itching to get a 45.5 UPO. I have been reading a lot lately, and even though people say the 42 is more accurate...I still want to get one of these new 45.5s from Josh or Andrew. I recall in the past some experts saying that the orange bezel was really off. Does anyone know if these new versions are any better?

Seems the gen goes from deep orange to an almost yellowish orange depending on the light. These rep pics seem to stay orange no matter what, but again it could be the lighting. I will probably end up putting a gen bezel on, but just curious about wearing the stock until I get to that point.

    Thanks

  2. Wow, I haven't been here in over 3 years and my account is still active.

Once I got a hold of my MBW 1680 modded by RepAustria, I never wanted another rep. :) After just going through the for sale section, I think that is about to change ;)

What brings me back is the riveted bracelet that came with my MBW 1680 has fallen apart. Can anyone help me source a quality replacement?

Want to say hi to leitztozeiss and lionsandtigers if they are still here. I remember them being very helpful and did some business with them.

  3. hey everyone

I got this black sub from another member last fall. I believe it was supposed to be a classic TW best, but recent research has me wondering. The rehaut appears conical to my eye, but i don't really see it in the following pics. This is definitely going to be a project watch. For some reason the crystal smudges real bad and tends to stay dirty. Notice especially the area around the cyclops. Please note that the bezel is loose, so the crystal appears raised in some photos. Also notice the lint underneath. It feels heavier than my other sub and ym, yet it appears physicaly smaller to me. The bracelet is broken, and this thing has been sitting in a drawer for half a year. I'm sorry about the pics, but the camera I used has a broken lcd, so I can't see anything or change settings. Would love to hear opinions.

The 2nd part is the MBW 1680 I have on the way right now! It was heavily modded by Repaustria, and the pics look amazing! I'm so excited I have to share! It has a few gen parts, nice work on the cgs, the slower beat movement, a riveted bracelet, just to name a few. I love the watch and I know vintage is not supposed to lume, but for some reason I really want this thing to light up like a christmas tree.

  4. Hey RWG staff.

I notice the common practice once an item in the trade section is sold, the thread is deleted.

I would like to suggest that perhaps a completed sale archive be created for reference purposes.

I thought I purchased a classic TW best sub 7 months ago, but now research is making me wonder if this is the case. I can't go back and look at the details of the listing because it has been deleted. It would also make a searchable record of who sold what which i believe would be useful to all members.

    Thanks

    David

  5. Well, vintage Rolex used 316L, so grade of steel is the same. The change to 904L didn't happen until the mid 80's.

As for being 1:1... Hard to say. They may be close, but not exact. I've not seen one of these cases in person to say one way or the other.

that is good info. doesn't seem worth it.

  6. Cases are not gen, but sold as 'replacement' cases (though never implied otherwise in the auction). They are not MBW, but very high quality.

They also have some very cool Patek and VC frankens as well- all solid 18k that they don't offer for sale on eBay.

So does that mean they are 1:1 and the same grade of stainless steel?

  7. Hey Members

The clasp on my TW Best sub bracelet broke. Is this an easy fix? One of the "caps" on the pin came off and pieces fell out that I cannot find. I tried transplanting a clasp from another sub I had.. but the screws will not fit.

If this is a big issue, how do I source a bracelet that I know will fit this tw best case?

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Greetings Members

I just got back from The US Virgin Islands the other day. I spent a week there for vacation. One thing I noticed while I was there.. EVERYONE WEARS BLACK SS SUBS! I had to take off my rep because I kept getting called out on it. Everyone's gen had more shine to it and the case appeared to be bigger.

I know they have a Regatta called "The Rolex" but don't know much about it. Maybe these are prizes? I was sitting on the ferry from St Admin to St John and 5 people were wearing one. I thought it was funny to see scruffily dressed beach bums in torn up flip flops sporting this watch.

Does anyone have an explanation for this phenomenon? Are they cheaper there for some reason perhaps?

    Thanks

    David

  9. Iam talking out of my ass Am i you should read all your posts and your posts over on WM9 forum and re evaluate your response.

You ordered this model for the solid 18crt gold links and bezel full stop. George was not offering the VIP model when you ordered yours.

2 days later after you ordered, the VIP model came up for offer, you cryed like a baby on the forums over there saying this is the model you wanted but didnot want to pay the extra $100 for it.

The model you recived has the gold plated endlinks, it is the older model as i said before. George changed the braclet on the two tones about 4 months ago and now they all come with solid endlinks. before that they came with gold plated endlinks because the braclets were not available in solid endlinks 18crt gold. So he is probaby correct in saying they sent you the wrong watch as this watch has not been available for more than 4 months.

I find it hard to beleve that George would say that this is a MBW, as really there is no such thing, but a name made up on this and other forums to describe a certian model that will acept Gen parts, Georges exact response to this question was

""Posted: Sat Jul 29, 2006 11:54 am Post subject:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S yes these models are better than what is offered from the dealers here, Why, THey are TW best cases which are hand assembled by Georges team. They fit a thicker crystal of higer quality. The crown tube has the O ring like an original on the inside , where the crown tube screws into the case, no other rep offers this i have pulled them all apart to see, as this is where a watch will leak water under pressure. George watches offer water resistance to 200m, donot beleve me get yours pressure tested and see. The BAnd, bezel, crown are all solid gold. These are made and serviced in a small private workshop in Tiawan, not mass produced in China where QC is well non exhistant. These and other minor points are why these watches are better thus the price.

BUt still if your not happy get your money back as George has offered you a full refund. send the wrong watch back and get your correct model.

Or get a inferior model in 14 crt gold from one of the dealers here.

As people have tried to point you in the right direction from the forums here telling you there is no good twotone rep offered, all have flaws that are incorrect to the original. Also this is typical Newbie purchase as this is the attitude you have displayed In youposts here and on the WM9 forum.

As i said earlier stop crying like a [censored] take your skirt off and see how much of a man you are and put the dollars down for a Gen model thats if you can afford too. Who has the best Sub ?? your Offical Rolex dealer thats who, if not settle for your asian made copies. There are some cheap ones around for a couple hundred $$ that kind of look like the original from a distance and will impress passes by. especially that butt ugly blue two tone that screams Fake. :bleh:

P.s sorry i will not respond anymore to your uneducated guesses as i find you fundimental facalties quite insuficiant.

    Eddie

I am so glad you will not be responding any more, because you have contributed nothing but [censored] to this thread.

The way you describe what happened is so polluted. I specifically asked George if the model he advertised was like the MBW in another thread on RWG, I sent him the link with picture. He said yes. Now imagine how I feel 2 days later him posting that there is a better version, after telling me 2 days earlier that what he offered was "THE BEST" Therefore what he told me was a lie. I didn't cry or [censored], I voiced a VERY VALID concern. Why was there a better watch offered after I had just been told I had purchased the best? :g:

I think its funny how you say he sent me his older model, when he told me he sent me SOMEONE ELSE'S REPAIRED watch. :bangin:

Point is the endlinks were not solid 18kt nor were the hollow midlinks. I laugh at your claim saying there was QC involved in the watch I got. I mean come on!!! Markers were different sizes and crooked, the cyclops was crooked, and the plating was AWFUL! I have a feeling you are somehow related to his business.

You talk all this [censored] about testing the links and such, but you have not posted ONE PICTURE of a watch you have received from this guy.

I know reps have flaws, but this one was ridiculous. This is the rep I wanted

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...;hl=blue+tt+sub

, and WM9 said he could provide it. He lied... END OF STORY!

Now I would like to vote your closing statement as the STUPIDEST STATEMENT EVER!

P.s sorry i will not respond anymore to your uneducated guesses as i find you fundimental facalties quite insuficiant.

    :Jumpy::Jumpy::Jumpy:

    You have excellent "fundimental facalties"!!!

  10. Google ads are automatically served according to the sites content. Therefore you see watch related ads.

I suggest they switch to Adbrite. It would allow RWG to set their own price per click, and it would allow advertisers to choose to have their ad on RWG. This would bring a variety of ads.

  11. Okay Eddie. Now you are just talking out of your ASS!

I didn't buy it cheaper elsewhere because WM9 told me that it was better. i.e solid 18k links.

Here is the direct quotation from his website, so I have no idea what the HELL you are talking about.

"Gold part of both end links made of solid 18K gold "

I sent WM9 an email asking if this was the MBW like Luckyyys on RWG, and he emailed me back YES!

That is why I ordered from him.

At least the reputable dealers here have the honesty to tell me they didn't have what I was looking for.

  12. Documented proof gees mate your asking alot you sound real finiky you want the exact copy of the real item, YES let me inform you it does not exsist for $600,

Presious time is only 14crt Gold and thats incorect wrong colour by a mile. Yes 18crt gold braclets are available if you know where to look NOT EBAY.

i said my brother is a jeweler for the past 20 years WE MELTED DOWN A LINK SOLID GOLD. I donot understand what the big deal is do you know gold wholesale to a jeweler is $6 a gram, that makes about $100 of gold on your two tone. What qualifications do you have to make an asumption that you donot think its 18crt gold?? your guess??

If you donot beleve me get yours melted down and tested. Iam sure you have a spare link after resizing.

And if your still not happy go and spend $8000 for a real one.

You Got a fairly close rep with real 18crt gold for $600 the authentic watch goes for about $8000, do the maths, plus not to mention its a illegal item.

Looks like George appoligised and is willing to rectify the situation.

Also mate my friend owns the original two tone, he does not care less about letter spacing, dial markers, he didnot even know it has a crown etched at the 6"position, he bought it because it was a rolex and liked the two tone. most people who own real rolexes do not know about the finer details that people here on the rep forums [censored] about.

[censored] [censored] [censored], my rehault is not deep enough, my minute hand is too short, the M does not line up, the swiss made is to the left, for F_ck sake, go and buy a skirt. Or put your big boy pants on and get the real item$$$$$$$

Eddie, I told you why I thought it was not solid 18k. There is a DISCOLORED SHARP EDGE on the end link.. it is not smooth. The reason for this? Plating!!! I have also found brown colored scratches on other links. Solid gold when scratched will not leave a BROWN mark.

DAMN RIGHT I am picky! I could have got the same watch from another dealer for A LOT LESS! So for someone charging OVER DOUBLE, I will mos def set my standards higher. If you read the claims made by WM9, I have every right to be picky.

Im glad your friend with the gen doesn't care about these things.... BUT I DO!

  13. I wish you would have documented proof Eddie, like Precious Time did. I have a hard time believeing it is solid 18kt gold. If it were solid, it would not have the sharp discolored edge in the middle of the end link.

I finally got a response from WM9, and I will post it for everyone to read. I feel like I am dealing with a Romanian on the bay. :p What I mean by that... I feel like I am being spun. Read and decide:

    EMAIL FROM WM9::

    Dear David:

My profound apologies! Both our shipping staff and I had made an honest mistake.

David, our shipping staff accidentally shipped your package to another gentleman in California, and his repaired 2 tone Submariner 16613 to you.

Our shipping staff sent me an email about this earlier on Sep 1st. And our watchmakers are making you a new 2 tone Submariner 16613. Yet, I forgot to email this important information to you. Once again, David, my profound apologies.

We understand how upset or angry you may be at the current moment, however, we would still like to ask you to give us another shot by delivering the correct timepiece you ordered to you.

If you feel like no longer have trust in us, we understand, I will reply you with the return instructions and give you full refund upon receiving the returning package.

If you are willing to give us another chance, it will be great! However, we may have to ask your patience for another 5 business days as our watchmakers are still making this new 2 tone Submariner 16613 VIP only model for you.

    Please let me know.

Thank you! Have a good day.

  14. i for got, it should also have a very good crystal height. yes? i can't tell from the pictures.

it is the same as my tw best 16610.

yes that was helpful Marc. I remember scanning something about the guilding, but didnt think it applied because i was told it was solid.

doesnt Joshua offrer a solid 18k version of a datejust or something like that? i don't think it is terrribly pricey considering the amount and density.

  15. Yep that got your little warning meter raised.

I'm am very aware of the thread of which you speak, I am also very aware that no one could guarantee that the site did in fact belong to George, in fact I am quite sure there were many who were willing to swear that it was not in fact his site.

Regardless none of that changes my opinion that you took a chance on an off site seller and lost.

    Ken

I will not argue that fact. My point: I am not a "fly-by-nighter"!!

other threads discussed the possibility of decent offsite dealers, this is info for one side of that argument.

also check this link out whoever cares. 18k oyster oem for 150. usa dealer... is this a fake?

solid 18k oem 20mm rolex oyster bracelet

  16. Just something to know (you should) there is no rep 18k bracelets ,, 14k the most and if they were 600$ would be for the bracelet alone.

Thats what I was finding out. There was a guy on ebay selling OEM 18K for 459 based out of the United States. I assume he had to be making a profit on that, therefore the 600$ price tag seemed right to me seeing as how it was coming out of Taiwan.
