  1. A local friend here asked me to make one up for him a while back, and sadly, I only took a couple of pics of it before it made its way to it's new home. It got me thinkin though, that some of the guys here would also find a use for something like this at watch gtgs or even just to display at home...

Not sure what pricing will be yet, although I'm thinking between $250-350 depending on what options and such since it takes roughly a week for me to put one out. I can even use a Panerai buckle to secure it for the PAM guys

Let me know what you guys think...

Here's the one I made that's long gone...

  2. I think this dial color really depends on lighting. Check out this pic of the Gen and you'll notice that the color of this and the rep look pretty much spot on. What I don't get is why they can make the proper strap for the navy themes and can't for the Volcano?

Here's another showing the same shade of orange... I think the rep is a tad too light

  3. Power down your modem, router (unplug them) and (turn off) PC. Wait 30 sec. Power up your modem 1st, wait 30 sec, then power up your router, then your pc's.

ok, I did all that, and it's fine on my pc, but the apache is still comin up for my macbook :(

  4. Hi all,

I was offered by friend whom can make buckle for me coz she knows that now I make leather straps, a certified 316L SS buckle. Then I think why don't I make GPFMod style buckle since this is most sought-after buckle for any PAM's addict. Then I make some drawings of it (based on pictures available on net) and show her if she can produce that and she said that she can do it. But the problem is the minimum quantity, she asked for 1000pcs but then downsized to 500pcs.

I'm not sure about it, I only need around 200pcs for my straps, 100 for 24mm & 100 for 26mm, and don't know what to do with the others 300pcs.

I need idea from all of you expert guys here about this, should I accept her offering for that 500pcs? if I sell the other 300 here & other forums, will it works? the price for each might be around $12.

The SS will be 2mm thick, brushed finished.

    I need your input guys.

    Best regards,

    Peter.

I can almost guarantee you'll sell those like hotcakes depending on how they come out

  5. Well, I finally had some time to take a breather today! Getting back into my old profession and nurturing a biz (not straps) while working puts a strain on free time. I finally got caught up and got home from sending out the last batch of straps... Decided to finally sit down and get to work on this thing before I start on some new straps. Here's how it goes:

After reading DSN's post on his new stuff being available, I did some research on his pieces, and while nice, I wasn't ready to take a gamble. A compromise was what I needed, so I emailed him and ordered his 112 superlumed dial and hands.

It was around the same time I decided that I was letting a few pieces collect dust and that my watch of choice was the 111... To me, my ideal collection would be the 111, 183, 249, and 112. Now I'm 3/4's of the way there with this new piece. The dial and hands are DSN's superlumed pieces, the high cannon pin came from Flav, and everything else came from Sead's 111h that he offered up for sale recently. I was so glad to see that the movement is the swan neck dagger with engraved bridge piece, rather than stickers or the needle swan neck. I also put some work into the crownguard and lever in tightening it and polishing the pin.

I must say that I'm 90% happy with this, and I'm sure the other 10% will come along, as I'm waiting for a DSN crown to come in (2 actually, as I forgot I ordered 1 a week ago). Costs added up, everything came pretty close to ordering a piece from DSN, but at least here, I had piece of mind in knowing that any QC concerns would be my own. One question though, will the DSN crown fill that gap in a little better?

Shot up a few pics... lemme k now what you guys think.

  6. Bruce79 is in town, and to welcome him here it`s time for a Seattle GTG this June the 8th at the Bahama Breeze in Tukwila (South Seattle) at 1:00. Looking forward to seeing everyone who can attend.

If you need directions or any other inquiries, just give me a pm.

Someone's gonna have some new shoes for the dance.... ;)

  7. Florida as Africa is overpopulated by humans not animals you walked into their back garden not the other way around, they as you shoud have a place to live.

I eat meat so no peta label pleas :p

Help me find a place to live then, as there bears and gators in my backyard. Obviously, by your point of view, they deserve my home much more than I do...

Fact of the matter is, you're not going to change my opinion, and I'm not going to change yours... if you'd like to take this to PMs, let's do it, but I did NOT post my work to start a debate.

  8. ManU fans are ok just don't make leather straps out of them

Elephants are at no point ok to wear, exotic leathers and people that use them are supporting illegal trade as their is a easy way to stop it DON'T WEAR OR USE IT then their will be no marked for it..I support the burning of such leathers if a animal dies in zoo or in the wild..

If you have such low selfastime that you need to dress up in gator shoes and elephant straps then i fell sorry for you..

Diamonds i don't use but i do now mostly humans are suffering over this trade we are like a gassilion people on this planet so not a thing i worry about to much. :p But i do agree that more questions shoud be asked on this prod..

You see i whant my grandchildren to experince the wild and all the animals that lives their, this is why i comit so much time and effort trying to convince people its wrong to use such leathers..

I think the strap you made looks damn good in the way its build, i just don't like the leather its made of..

    and to this remark

    Africa are overpopulated

Yes Africa is but not by animals.

    Cheers

Dude, I think it has nothing to do with self esteem... People have differences in tastes, is what it boils down to. Maybe in the world you live in, exotic hides are all black market, but in the real world, tons of exotic hides, including elephant, are traded legally and ethically. Do I agree that there is a dark side to the exotic hides trade? Absolutely! I made sure this was legally obtained before I took ownership of it. Parts of Africa are overpopulated by elephants, just as Florida is overpopulated by alligators from over conservationism (is that even a word?).

I can respect your stance and your opinions, as they are yours to have, but please don't push your beliefs on to me.

  9. I am averaging +$200 a day....so if you count the income from my job (Which is a struggle right now) and poker I am making it....not with a lot of extra money at the end of the month....but still making it....

I am gonna have to move to the strip here pretty soon and take advantage of the tourists....Caesars and Wynn are probably good choices....I hear the Mirage can be good also but there is A LOT of really good players down there....its just that the casino I play at is literally 3 minutes from my house....

Mirage is GREAT! I was there for a week last year around labor day weekend, and made about $400-500 each day. Just about paid for my trip thanks to the Mirage!

Did well at the Monte Carlo as well... Lots of drunk players. As long as you play your own game, and not get on tilt from the variance that river chasers put into the mix, you'll do well.

  10. I for one I am not gonna judge you.. No one is a saint, so no reason to try and find alternative 'bad things' we wear. (either diamonds, or clothes made in bangladesh by 10 y.o. etc etc). We all do it.

If you feel comfortable wearing an elephant strap good for you. I personally don't.

But since it is a controversial subject and you asked our open opinion here in the forum do not expect everyone to endorse it.

I hear ya man... and what I was saying wasn't directed at you, just in general really. As you said, no one is a saint, and if we all look in our personal lives, there are things that originated in questionable ways. I know the elephant strap that I wear was probably obtained more ethically than the Nikes I wear that were manufactured by kids in a sweat shop. As I said earlier, let's all agree to disagree...

BTW, you gotta tell me where you got ahold of that Metta leather!

  11. With the exotics I look at it this way, if the animal was killed for a reason (over population, in a game reserve or the like, or perhaps died due to other natural reason) then thats fine. IN fact I suspect there must be some sort welfare group doing just this. Or is it okay to kill some animals like gators, crocs or sharks but big cuddly elephants, pangolins and manchester united fans are unacceptable. I am just curious as to the rational behind the comments that all. BTW, it is a great looking strap.

I agree... why is it ok to wear gator, which at one time an endangered species in the US, but now overpopulating. Elephants were also at one time endangered, but now in some parts of Africa are overpopulated... Shall the ones that die from natural causes, or culled from overpopulation be left to rot or even buried?

If we're going to take the activist stance, I'd like to take into question the origins of the diamonds on these bling bezels, in your jewelry, and even in your wives' rings! The things human beings, our very own species, are going through to make these glittery rocks available to us, I would say is fairly unethical, no? Now, instead of comparing reps to animals, we're comparing humans to animals... What's your take on on that???

  12. If no one buy it or use it the leather has no value in a black, white or grey marked hens my bad stomac felling on this.

    Nuff said.

We can agree to disagree.... The same thing can be said about the both of us and our involvement in a large scale counterfeiting operation, whether we want to call them homages, replicas, fakes or counterfeits.
