  1. I can understand your sentiments, as I was curious as to the origins of the hides. I can assure you, these were not black or even gray market hides and were purchased from properly licensed importers. Elephant hide boots, belts and gun holsters are offered by big name corporations, as well as the little guy...
  2. Thanks guys! It feels really great on the wrist, definately my favorite strap out of all the ones I have!
  3. First, let me start off by saying that this strap is not for sale. Long story short, I met a holster maker that had a ton made with exotic hides. He told me he'd send me some scraps to mess around with... fast forward to a week later, I get a box in the mail and lo and behold, there are some scraps! Included in the box are stingray, ostrich, buffalo, lizard, hippo, gator, tiger shark, and elephant. The only ones I think I have enough to make straps from are the stingray, gator, ostrich and maybe tiger shark. The elephant came in black and gray... out of the black, I think I can make 2, maybe 3 out of, the gray was this one, and that was using some creative mapping out! lol anyways, enough talk and on to the pics! The leftovers of the gray elephant hide:
  4. My experience is that most of those people actually wear reps as well, but are overcompensating hoping no one knows. I personally know 2 people that do this and IMO think it's a shitty habit... Unfortunately though, it spreads like wildfire as the next person thinks that's how they need to act in order to cover up...
  5. haha I was actually thinking that this morning! I'll have to mount it to mine today when I get off work and snap some pics... Thanks for the compliments!
  6. Found some shark skin at Tandy the other day, so I figured what the hell and picked up a hide... A little tougher to work with than regular leather, but I think the outcome is well worth the effort! I doubt I will stitch this one, as the stitching would only distract from the texture of the hide IMO. I used suede for the backing on this one for comfort, and will report back in the coming weeks as to how it wears out in the real world. Took a few shots with and without flash to try and capture the texture as best as possible. As always, critiques and criticisms welcome!
  7. The aero bang is insane looking, especially with the etched crystal!
  8. Just curious... how does a watch get magnetized in the first place?
  9. Nice post! I've still got alot to learn about disassembling watches! Love your workstation btw. Was this to test the water resistance of the watch or the plating?
  10. Well, there's a first time for everything, and this is one of em! After reading on this forum for a few weeks and seeing all the cool straps, I came back from the leather store with a bag full of goodies to try my hand at tutorial I read. One of the materials I picked up was some black suede... I think I rushed through it, being that I was anxious to see how it was going to turn out the first time around. Came up a few cm too short on the buckle side. Other than that though, lemme know what you guys think! I need to find some orange thread to tackle my new B&R next...
  11. Last night, I find a PAM 029 on craigslist for only $100. The bug had already bit me and figured "Hey, it's only $100" so I emailed the kid from craigslist back. Long story short, I copped the PAM 029 from CL for $100. Watch is in good condition, and came with a deployment clasp. Feels nice, and I love it so far, but damn, I need to stay off these forums for a few days... You guys are a bad influence!!!!
  12. It does indeed have the silver sub dials. I got mine from a buddy
  13. I wonder what could it be? Let's find out, shall we? Looks like a lot of styrofoam and bubble wrap. Must be pretty nice to need all this protection. hmm... Interesting, looks like... A LIL BIT O' BLACK MAGIC GOIN ON IN HERE!!!!! But wait... there's more??? Looks like the total opposite of the Black Magic.... a white faced SS BCE! Sorry for the blurry shots, as the batteries for the dslr are dead and I had to go with the ol P&S.
  14. In my line of business, I still am amazed to hear about how deeply some people have dug themselves into the credit hole! Some are legitimate, and aren't able to help themselves (medical concerns with family or themselves), although insurance would have coverd that aspect, but for the most part, it's people spending for luxury goods they can't afford. Case in point, I'm trying to help a family get their credit in good enough shape to get a mortgage to buy a home. On my first consult with them, I tell them no big purchases or anything on their credit is a must. What do they do a month later? Apply for a car loan to get out of the Acura SUV they already own and into the same vehicle, but silver instead of champagne! That's just one example. I believe everyone deserves a 2nd chance, but come on, don't abuse the chances you're getting... That's what not just Americans, but modern society needs to learn. Then again, if everyone was responsible in the first place, I'd be out of work
  15. WOW that's gorgeous country up there! One of my best friends is from the Matanuska valley and I was up there for his wedding. Wanna go back in a bad way...
  16. I would say just get a screwdriver with the same width as the H screws and you can use a dremel tool and cutting wheel to put a notch into it.
  17. If it was a black AMV8 and in South Fl, it's a good friend of mine... That ain't his only AP either
