The gen bezel is the way to go. And I mean the entire bezel. It looks and feels so nice. Plus the pearl is purrfect!

Without date, yes, with date not so easy...
-
I have noticed a few a7750 movements have sloppy tolerance date platforms. Whats odd is that the factory that created them must have known about the issue as they made daywheels to match. This is fine until you put an eta wheel (with washer even) on them.....

Just an FYI, I recently bead blasted a gen Porsche Design PVD chronograph. The PVD was in poor shape and my intent was to blast it all off as it looked like it was painted, it in fact was not painted, just 25 year old PVD showing the wear of photojournalist wearing it to hell and back. Have a look. Anyway, while blasting this case, I did notice that part way through the process I had blasted the remaining PVD into a new soft bead finished PVD that was very similar in look and feel to a davidsen PVD case. I didn't take any pics unfortunately as my goal was a pure bead blasted finish and I was part way through the work. The finished bead blasting was quite pleasing and the watch came out excellent. I do believe that with a fine media that isn't at full velocity, ie very close to the gun, a blasting of the PVD surface could be made to happen. The key however is how much PVD you have depthwise to start with.....

What flaws on the 42mm?

I'll be building a swiss franken SA soon....

Welcome to America! Now pay more taxes so I won't have too!

Why not just mic your subdial posts and then ask if anyone can match the hands to that diameter? It may match a movement another smith has laying around open that they could fit it on. I know I have 6-7 different swiss chrono movments that are bare right now.

Who is this guy anyway? He looks like a grown up Steve Eurkel to me....
-
Yup 20mm... I have a spare SS braclet if anyone looking for one.
-
I'd wait for pics before passing judgement. I do believe his pvd cases are pre-v and therefore the crown position is higher then regular cases. At lease the ones I've seen have been this way and also had a different CG.

Well mine is done, its an FPO! I'm about 1/4 the cost of a used gen, so while not cheap its not too bad...

Cutting new threads on stems, what do you think?
owdeguy replied to RWG Technical's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Looks great. I'd be interested in getting some of those if you make them available. I'd like to use your lume services too when you have some time. -
Anyone know of a PO 42mm that has a gen bezel/insert done?
owdeguy replied to owdeguy's topic in The Omega Area
Well just an fyi, I can tell you that the gen bezel is plug and play onto the 42mm.... Mine is on now. -
So its not just me that has had issues installing these. I spent 8 hours on one watch trying to get it to click on the date change instead of acting all gummed up on 2/3s of the changes....

That looks to be gen to me. Just looking at the rotor you can see its got a proper ETA rotor bearing. Now if the factories won't put that into a $1k HBB what makes you think they're replicated that into a hammy?

swiss > asian Any day of the week. Even serviced, one of the biggest things for me is parts availabilty. If something goes on an eta I can order the part and fix it quick. On an asian you order a new movement I suppose, but then you'd need to service that new one. This is why most smiths will work on an asian once, then never again. If for some reason something does happen, they have no way of sourcing the right replacement part. The fact that there are so many variants of the asian doesn't help things at all either. And I'm someone with a stockpile of asian parts to have around just in case I need to fix one. But most of my keepers have etas as i know it can be repaired.

Will a ETA 2836 fit into an Oris Carlos Coste
owdeguy replied to w2w's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I'm supposed to be doing one soon, I'll let you know when its done... -
Nice watch, I once had a rep of this and nearly bought the gen but settled on a vitesee. Does your franken have an Eta inside too?

Anyone know of a PO 42mm that has a gen bezel/insert done?
owdeguy replied to owdeguy's topic in The Omega Area
My watch would say otherwise. I want to see if anyone out there has put the gen insert on their watch and still has the gen bezel.. -
Hi, I'm trying to confirm something and I need to find anyone that has done the gen bezel insert mod on a 42mm Planet Ocean. Tia. Pete

I have an old case with a 7753 in it apart on my bench right now. I'll check it when I get home. I just got rid of my spare 7753, it nearly went into a pam but will end up in a cartier instead.

HBB Ceramic Bezel and Hairline Cracks at Screws
owdeguy replied to Watchmeister's topic in Other Brands Area
Anyone have a cracked one they want to part with? -
gen breitling parts avail... let me know soon.
owdeguy replied to Defender110's topic in The Breitling Area
can you get me a gen chrono avenger bezel? -
Anyone have a line on gen bezels for under $224? I want to get the bezel, but at that price it bumps the watch over what I consider practical in a rep vs gen ratio. Or if anyone has pulled a bezel out of a 42mm and wants to sell just the bezel, please contact me.
