  1. and I said I know this........ And its up to $224 not 180....................................
  2. Anybody have any idea how much a UPO would be worth with link gap fixed, correct dial, and complete gen bezel? I'm just curious as I have a 42mm but I'm on the fence about spending the money on a gen bezel. And yes, I know the gen bezel does not just drop on, I like challenging problems....
  3. I have the kevlar strap on mine, and a new SS on the way. If anyone has an broken one please let me know. I'd like to buy it to test a repair. I can see about getting it welded back by a friend that welds medical grade equipment. thx
  4. Sweet, another full swiss gst! I'd like to get my hands lumed, but thats about it for me. The tritium on my dial still works adequately. The AR would be cool I'm sure but I won't do it on this watch since they never came with it. Guess I'm just old fashioned that way.
  5. not to insult, but you do have the pushers threaded out in the full unlock position right? otherwise that pusher won't be able to push the full 100% into the case, if at all.. the picture you show above had them unlocked, if they are locked you'll see the inner part of the pusher.
  6. Cool, theres quite a few of us, I wonder how many are swiss or frankened.. My modded watch is swiss+eta wheeled+gen dialed
  7. If you want to play, please do one thing. Know when to say when to stop. I've seen so many watches that people have destroyed beyond repair its sad. If things take a turn for the worse, think about whether your next move will ruin it or maybe you should sell/send off/do something else with it.
  8. I own 3 GSTs (1 SS, 1 Ti, 1 Swiss Ti) and all the crowns feel wobbly when extended out. I think it has to do with the spring loading inside the crown. It does feel weird by I'm pretty sure they're all that way...
  9. The asian 21k movement is more accurate for this watch as the gen runs at 21k as well. I have a 21k AP roo and was about to put an eta in it when I did the research and found this out. My personal feeling is unless you can find a 21k eta 7750, you're better off keeping the asian 21k in and possibly getting it serviced...
  10. The Zigmeister, If you need a 7753 let me know, I have a spare that I have nothing to put into.
  11. Who is this guy you used in Chicago, because this mainspring being broken sounds implausible.
  12. I saw a 3,6,9 on ebay... Might still be there, It would alot more logical to buy that and use the other movement for something else.
  13. I really enjoy fixing other peoples problems. I've gotten over 1/2 my watches that way. The latest is an IWC GST SS that I just put back together. Too bad you aren't stateside I'd trade you some of your accidents for repairs on others, or even just buy them from you. I feel like all these broken watches are poor orphans and someone should save them from the back of the watch box!
  14. Guess I'll keep hoarding the 7750 etas while I can still get them. I'll just hold on to them for myself and my friends. It seems right now its safer to make them swiss than to risk buying them swiss from a factory....
  15. when you slowly and gently wind it clockwise can you here it clicking (winding)? If not it could be the winding gear is stripped. If you do here it winding then you have a more serious problem with the movement. The other safe way you could attempt to wind it is by putting the face vertical and rotating the watch clockwise slowly as many times as you can. This will wind it via the rotor. Good luck.
  16. Wow, great job! How did you remove the lettering without having to refinish the black matt finish?
  17. Actually it was way way back in the old days, but I only ever saw it in quartz, and I have no idea if they made an automatic version back then......
  18. Thanks The Zigmeister, You're understanding matches what I thought I understood about this subject. I figured it had to do with the tic vs toc, but I thought maybe there was something obvious I just wasn't thinking of so I wanted to bounce it off someone else. Now that I understand what you've explained about lift angle maybe I can start working on something. I wonder how the Chinese angles are done, maybe off their clone counterparts? Its a shame there isn't a really good graphical representation of this. Once I work it out maybe I'll build a flash animation of it. Thanks again for being so helpful...
  19. The Zigmeister, Being that you're an engineer maybe you can explain how a timing machine is calculating the amplitude. I'm building my own timing unit and I'm not seeing anything detailing what exactly the amplitude is or is being calculated off of. I'd kill for one good diagram so that I could visualize it. tia, Pete
  20. Theres still enough definition I could sand back more edging, but its so small I hardly think anyone would be able to notice. There is still a beaded finish in the surface, but at least its polished and not matte anymore... Heres a better pic with the other camera..
  21. Great post Andy, thanks for share such good details! BTW, how's my crown compare?
  22. Have any of you guys bought the 7750 version and done the 7753 conversion? I have a 7753 that I can't decide what to do with, so unless I find something that strikes me to mod it into I'll just sell it.
  23. This is for PAMs only correct?
  24. Amen to that The Zigmeister, I say Caveat Emptor for anything I buy/trade. As long as you gave a proper disclosure of it thats the name of the game with private party sales.
  25. when are you going to run this? ad-hoc or on a scheduler? If this is going to be run like an application then I suggest you ditch it and just use cmdsql to run your query and push your result into a sheet. Then all you need to do is link the result fields to your sheet.
