  1. @Dude: No, definitely not. That watch isn't bad, but it has one fundamental flaw, which is the datewheel/cyclops positioned too right. It's very typical problem with Submariner/GMT reps. It also has pure stainless steel showing underneath the sides of the gold wrapped SEL.

I think I owned that exact same watch 3 years ago (from Joshua himself). Nice rep, but can't be compared to either of these (in any way).

    Thank you for the clarification!

  2. Hi all,

I have a noob sub with an asian 21J movement I bought during the group buy. The problem is that when screw down and tighten the crown the movement stops. I have to either not screw it down all the way or better yet leave it completely unscrewed. I could do this, but the watch looks "unfinished" like this and definitely takes away from the joy of owning the watch. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.

  3. Hey everyone,

Just to set the record straight I live in Boca Raton, FL. I don't know what the back and forth jabs between Canadians and US is all about. Inside joke I guess.

Anyway, I wore the watch to the shop and showed it to the guy. He must have been in a bad mood earlier because he was pretty friendly this time. I held it next to his briefly and I couldn't see any difference. He seemed indifferent and commented that the weight is probably different. I didn't press the issue. The bill for 2 tires, alignment and headlight on my 2002 CLK320 was $458. So I joked its a good thing I only paid $80 for a rep. He said he bought his about 8 years ago for $3000. I told him now they are close to $5K. I told him my dream watch was a gen TT Blue sub. He said he wants to get an all gold Daytona. Which I think costs around $25K if I'm not mistaken. We then sort of became buds as his first name is the the same as mine, Dean, which is not a common name at all. He proceeded to tell me that he never liked his name growing up and asked his parents to call him by his middle name. I told him I also told my mother I hated my name and to call Steve, Mike, Tony, anything but Dean. Funny how you can connect with someone when you find a common ground.

Anyway, I know I went off subject, but it was still an interesting encounter that never would occurred if it wasn't for my TTK sub that I bought as a result of finding RWG :1a:

  4. I had a bit of an awkward exchange today with a front desk guy at Tires Plus today. He was wearing a 16610 sub. I immediately noticed it and studied it a bit while he was putting my order into the computer. It looked just like the one I bought from TTK for $80. Even the crown guards looked the same. I wasn't wearing mine. I told him, "nice watch". He said thanks. Then I couldn't resist, so I said I have the same one, but its not real. He then said to me annoyingly, "Well then it not the same one". I was surprised at the attitude so I said it looks the same and he said "yeah they make the fake ones look pretty real".

I have to go pick up my car in about an hour. I'm going to wear my sub and show it to him if he's there and see the reaction. :bicycle:

  5. Thanks for the update!

    CHRGOD

    DEE 1

    DINO 13

    HIKE USA

    JOHNNY HA

    MUDFISH

    NELLY

I believe 4 or 5 people from this list got there's already! Unfortunately, I'm not one of them......still waiting!

    Hike,

I think you know already, but just in case...I got my 16610 3 - 4 weeks ago. I was DINO13 on this list.

  6. I see no practical advantages of an automatic over a quartz and find them to be a real pain in the butt.

I appreciate the art and craftsmanship, but not the cost of maintenance, effort to keep them wound, accuracy, etc.

I like the way autos sweep. Why can't they make a quartz that sweeps?

I'm looking for a good analogies but can't really find one:

    How about these:

    Bently = automatic

    Honda Accord = quartz

    Pam Anderson = Automatic

    Jennifer Garner = quartz

    Original Van Gough = Automatic

Van Gough lithograph poster = quartz

Having a lion as a pet = automatic

Having a house cat as a pet = quartz

  7. Wow a lot of info on accuracy. I never really thought about it before. Funny how you can buy a $10 quartz that keeps nearly perfect time and can go up to ten years between batteries and a $25,000+ Rolex is not as accurate and can barely go two days before needing a "charge". I never quite understood the attraction of automatic watches, but subs don't come in quartz so I will put up with it for vanity sake :showoff:

Anyway, here is my 72 hour update:

    Hours:

    24 +/- 0 sec

    24 - 48 - 20 sec

    48 - 72 - 15 sec

so after 72 hour cumulative 35 sec slow.

Here is my last accuracy test update. lost another 17 sec today. In the last 72 hours it has lost a total of 52 sec. Extrapolated to 30 days means it would be projected to lose about 8 minutes.

  9. Hike,

Here's my 24 hour accuracy test:

I started at approximately 9:30PM last night it now 9:58 pm. I set the time to my computer. Drum roll please............

This is freaky but my watch matches the computer, EXACTLY TO THE SECOND! This is no lie.

I looked at it a few hours ago and it was about 5 seconds faster than the computer. I guess it settled down?

In interest of the test I must reveal that I did not wear the watch at all today. I picked it up a few times to shake it, look at it and take some pictures. I don't know if wearing it would affect the test. This was really unexpected. I thought it would run a little fast as others have said which would have been fine. But +/- 0 seconds over 24 hours?? Now I have to see what happens over the next few days.

Here's my 48 hour accuracy test (actually 47.5, but who's counting)

You'll recall from above the 24 hour test shocker where there was a zero variance between my watch and the computer clock.

Well, I wore the watch to work today and...now its 20 seconds behind. Seems odd to me that it would be slow. Anyone know why this may be? Maybe I'm not swinging my arm in natural arcing movements as I go about my daily chores :cc_confused:

Anyway, stay tuned for the much anticipated 72 hour report tomorrow. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

  10. Dr. Phil is a genius.

He even wrote a book that says that fat people will lose weight if they eat less, and exercise more. That was really revolutionary, and I'm sure the book sold millions.

Next he's probably going to concentrate on hair loss.

    LMAO :Jumpy::rofl::thumbsupsmileyanim:

Dr Phil and Maury Povich. Two side show freaks

  11. Maybe you could update as in a week or two about its accuracy!!!

  12. the crown guards can be trim slightly. it is very good value for money.

Actually I think the crown guards look very good. Maybe better than the gen if that's possible. Took at the bottom crown guard. Looks pretty good even at this magnification. OK a little pudgy, but I'm not messing with it ^_^

PS. Rep is on the left

  13. Charlie Sheen is much more interested in watching snatches than snatching watches. :clown:

Totally agree and I think he knows that snatching a good watch helps in snatching a good catch.

Guess you could make an analogy:

woman with fake boobs attracts a man, as a man with a fake Rolex attracts a woman. Made for each other :p

  14. LOL, I looked that up on season 1 (shows you how obsessed I am), just type it into google and it states immediately he's a Rolex lover. He apparently has quite the collection.

People have said they won't wear a Yachtmaster because Dr. Phil wears one which I would tend to agree with, but now that I know Charlie Sheen wears one its back on my must have list! B)

  15. Hike,

Yes. Purchased from the group buy. Thanks for the heads up on the movement and sticker. I will try and check the accuracy and report back. I'm personally not too concerned about it though. I'm just glad it runs :D
