  1. Thanks Kruzer (Tak too for the tip) but alas it is a black dial naturellement. Will keep my eyes peeled.
  2. Angus seems to be upto his eyeballs right now - I hear what you're saying TK but it's almost certainly on its way so where's the harm really? I'll bet it arrives in a day or two. If it doesn't then of course you reserve the right to be [censored] off. But not yet.
  3. ....related to his current incarceration perhaps? Let me guess, something victimless and soft - tax evasion? Just a wild stab in the dark......which is, incidentally, what he may be getting walking round with a gold Rolex on his wrist, rep or otherwise.
  4. Why not get him a nice B&O kit, twice-weekly visits from the local escort agency and regular supply of Columbia's finest whilst you're about it.... I think you should do your friend a favour and refrain from sourcing either of these. Whilst I suspect Norwegian prisons may be like holiday resorts compared to most countries, he will still be mixing with other inmates, which means you'll either be laser-sighting one of his intercostal spaces for an unfortunately sharpened eating utensil, or else painting a target on his backside. Neither of which you'd want on your conscience I'd assume?
  5. Taka/Kruzer, Where did you both source your gen dials? 'Tis the missing piece of the jigsaw in my fellow franken TiCA ('ticker' )
  6. Another trick they missed was to give it a ceramic bezel insert but without the embossed/engraved indices that looks so good on the 116710 GMT.
  7. That aside, for a serious heavy duty divers' watch from the luxury end of the market, you still can't beat the venerable Heuer Aquagraph - the DeepSea doesn't come close IMO.
  8. My own thoughts exactly The likes of the Explorer II and Milgauss were awful sellers but that scarcity has boosted their collectability and value to astronomical levels. As for the DeepSea, you know I actually quite like it - elements like the domed crystal, thicker case, Ti caseback, blue lume (nice!) are welcome, but the words 'ring lock system' could have been improved upon. I mean if you have to have huge point text on the front of your tool watch at least have it say something that doesn't sound like a sanitary installation.
  9. Amen to that. He also has a very decent 1655 Explorer II that would be a good base for mods I'd be interested in picking up.
  10. Well done R I always chuckle whenever Freddy starts frothing at the mouth about "Mr Slimeball". The sort of character that if you did this deal in person and shook on it, you'd be wise to count your fingers afterwards.
  11. There's no doubting that looks to be a genuine and original Rolex dial. However, that's not the same thing as saying that is a genuine and original COMEX Rolex dial. Caveat emptor
  12. No it doesn't. Triplock crown and tube in this new model.
  13. Ha ha TMG, you and your damn itchy trigger finger beating me to the punch - still great minds think alike
  14. Well he wouldn't need TWO gens, just a 16710, an Explorer dial and hand set and it's off to the RSC Indeed, the 'ground crew' Pan-Am GMT 6542 There's also another more modern precedent of inbreeding like this - some mountaineer/adventurer/Ranulph Fiennes-type who asked Rolex to put a fixed Explorer bezel on his GMT 16710. Must dig that Antiquorum article out sometime.
  15. You'll have trouble getting it as the gen is a LE piece.
  16. Mmmmm, the Black Steel lurks in the gloom, eyes burning like embers, stalking its prey, waiting just waiting.....
  17. Mmmm, there's a graphite dial too....bracelet to follow too. Must resist.
  18. Is this really what this place has descended to these days? Dealer vs. dealer, pick your sides? Let's be straight here, it's hardly a "veiled rumour" from Angus is it? So what he's second the market, there's room for all, some prefer to buy from J&A, others from Angus. Why is it necessary to spew forth this type of post, stirring the pot Pugwash-style? I'm a little surprised and disappointed at this to be honest, we all love the Skyland so let's focus on that and the positives and negatives of the watch, and any comparisons when they arise. Less politics, more watch-talk I say
  19. Fair enough, crossed wires, apology accepted. You've been around here a good while now, so I'd ask, have you ever known me to have a dig at anyone never mind question their integrity? On a lighter note, I think those who held back are going to very happy next week
  20. Jesus christ. Massive sense of humour failure alert! Changed your tune as going from not buying the Skyland with flaws, trying to cut down on purchases etc. to minutes later, yes excellent, all excited, weak resolve like us all. Ah, you know what, it's quite sad that I have to explain myself here, maybe I should just ignore your posts in future lest you jump down my throat again. I really don't see what's gotten into you here. Jeez and you say you're embarrassed for me? Au contraire p.s. Dexter's Lab is my favourite Saturday morning viewing - obviously the only humour we share.
  21. Ha ha changed your tune now Mickey, better start being less honest and start selling lots more top-of-the-range electricals eh? I pity the poor unsuspecting fools that walk into your space tomorrow, like lambs to the slaughter
  22. Quite. A bit of journalistic licence from Steppen there perhaps. Nor would Angus say that even if it was. But it will certainly be interesting to see what it looks like - I'll bet it's no worse
