  1. Logo at 12 is a dead giveaway - Here's a gen 5970:
  2. Freak the masses - it's a great rep.
  3. To me it looks like it was designed on a CAD system by someone who hasn't mastered complex solids and 3d splines yet -
  4. I'm sure they're manufactured by Rolex, or at least by their display/promotions department. But they're not real watches.
  5. I don't think anyone is being "bashed", simply told not to be an alarmist. Stuff happens that the suppliers can't control - watches get damaged in shipping, customs hold-ups, unseen damage etc. Not giving suppliers a chance to respond paints an unfair picture, the problem may well be something they have no control over. There will be plenty of time later to report "I had a problem and X resolved it quickly" or "I had a problem and X did nothing" But by jumping the gun and reporting too early you can make a good, responsible supplier look like they are unresponsive when they in fact are doing their best to keep their customers happy. By all means, report on your transactions, and don't forget to report when you have a good experience as well. But you can't do a movie review if you've only seen the first five minutes of the film.
  6. It's an authentic Breitliz! Very rare! How often do you run across a battery-operated automatic watch?
  7. Source for rep boxes - http://www.wiki-watch.com/replica_watch/ns...&order=time While some are quite good, not all of these boxes are authentic or even resemble the Gen box so do your research first. Most dealers can source boxes for your reps, just ask. Angus at Puretime has always come through for me in this area.
  8. I imagine he'd be happy to do that for a small additional charge -
  9. I just bought an Assioma rep and I was thinking about getting a leather strap to swap out with the metal band. Has anyone out there done this? It looks easy, but looks can be deceiving - Does the Gen with a leather strap have a deployant clasp, or just a regular tang clasp? If it's a deployant, is it single fold or butterfly like the metal band? Any idea what the distance between lugs is? I know I can measure it once it arrives, but I though I would get started shopping now -
  10. Hey, the Gens come with a "standard ETA movement", too - at ten times the price!
  11. Canal street is a street in New York City famous for shops run by Chinese immigrants offering very bad Rolex fakes, often for $10-$20. They sometimes sell them from tables right on the street in the original little plastic baggies, with a cheap 17j movements and often humorous misspellings on the case. My favorite was "Aotometic Mvement - made of Swiss" The fakes are so bad the cops don't even bother to bust the guys. They're considered novelties. If you get to know the shop owners and convince them you're not a cop, they often have a selection of better reps in the back. but if you're not Asian or a friend of theirs you'll probably never see the good stuff.
  12. You think they could have at least sized the bracelet to fit the Mannequin. But really, it's not uncommon to use props and reps of all kinds in window displays, the TV's and stereos are usually fake as well. Rolex themselves has fakes in the front window of their NYC store for security reasons, although better fakes than that -
  13. I'd have to agree, all the gold models I've seen look like cheap costume jewelry
  14. The finish looks like the entire thing is made of vacuum plated plastic, and cheap plastic at that. Still, I would have bought it just for a souvenir -
