  1. I personally would stay away from the GMT movements (unless of course you go for this one) :)

Haha but http://www.chrono24.com/en/others/popup_pic.htm?extwin=&popupmode=1&AD_ID=1627237&picnum=7&ow=640&oh=480&wascaptcha=0 what is "declarartion"? This is not even a real word - English is not my first language but I at least know this. Attention to detail brothers! Attention to detail! How can I trust this seller if they cannot even get something so simple correct?

  2. Hi guys Nos here, not been around for a while!

So I have the itch for a new watch and I think either a cartel Prohunter GMTII or a Prohunter Sub is the way forward, with the Swiss movement. One of these will look badass on a Nato. I seem to remember there being issues with some of the GMTII modded movements - is this still the case? I presume the current cartel offerings are incorrect stack which I don't mind, were these the ones with an issue or was it the correct stack ones? Or should I avoid modded GMT altogether and plump for the Sub? Been away too long :)

    cheer, Nos

  3. I had a number of midrange gens and some neat reps - the reps got the most wrist time; so I sold my gens and put the money towards my mortgage. My wife now owns the only gen in our house, a great custom Rolex which she will treasure forever.

I love watches "gen" or "fugezi" - at least with a rep if I trash a watch it's a few hundred $ down the drain and not thousands; I have other things to care about and don't care to have $10000 sitting on my wrist when I walk the dog :)

Anyway if you do want to sell either of those watches pictured I'm sure you'll find man an eager buyer!

  4. 6694- dates from the first quarter of 1964 according to the case back- I 64. Also, the 6694 wasn't made in 1949. Good looking watch.

Also, interesting point rosnik- open 6 on the 26- I bet it also has round top threes. The 26 on a 1680 Sub is closed, and the 3's are flat top. Same time frame, but Rolex did use different date wheels.

Many thanks for the clarification man!

  5. Hey all, been away a while. Thought I would share a neat watch I bought for my wife. It's a custom Oysterdate (I think it dates from 1949 but not entirely sure, serial number 5157**). The dial has been painted with a Mickey Mouse emblem. It's on an aftermarket bracelet but the lugs are original. She loves it, and I think it's very cool. It has a great handwind movement. Anyhow, here are some pics, enjoy!

  6. LOL. What 4-door car don't they use as taxis these days? I've seen Beemers, Audis, Jags, Mercs, you name it. :D

Anyhow, as you might gather, that was a quick test drive. The dealer and I got in the E280 diesel. I turned the key. We both listened to the agricultural clatter for a minute, looked at each other and shook our heads. Didn't even bother to drive it. Been a loooong time since I drove a diesel Merc, and I'd hoped they'd gotten a lot better. They're certainly quieter than they were, but it still sounded like a tractor...

The AMG E55 is a blast, though :D

I've got it for the weekend and I'll see how I get on with it. He's had it in stock for a while, so I could probably get a good discount. Given that I don't have the decision from the insurance company, despite their promises to do something about it today, I guess final decisions will have to wait but at least I've got something nice to drive for the weekend. The car dealer says he thinks he's got a regular petrol E-class coming in fairly soon, so I might hold off and try that too.

Now we're talking - AMG are fantastic.

  7. Well the Germans know a thing or two about making ..

Good cars (If you forget about the GM Opel sh*te)

:) Actually Bibbs I recently had the pleasure(?) of driving a Vauxhall Vectra from Scotland to London, and also a Vauxhall Astra from London to Manchester. I must say I was extremely impressed with the build quality and driving characteristics of both. I'm a terrible car snob, but these were genuinely impressive. The fact that thay are so uncool makes them cheap on the used market also.

  8. If you're over 50 get a Mercedes. I would avoid SAAB at all costs, they are nothing but rebadged GM crap these days. Lexus has more than a whiff of Alan Partridge about it ("I like to call it the Japanese Mercedes"). Having owned a stock evo9 and a stock e46 M3 they're not comparable; the evo was far more hardcore but the M was in a different league. Both were hideously expensive to run :(

    If you'll be spending ~

  9. Two days ago I was sitting on the couch watching some dumb arsed reality TV show about Million Dollar Real Estate in SoCal. One of the realtors drives a black AMG 55 and had been wearing an AP ROO.

About 20 minutes in to the show, I got a glimpse of the watch... SECONDS AT 9 FOLKS... YEP, its an MBW seconds at nine!!!

He made over $120k commissions on a sale during this episode and blew $700 on two pair of shoes BUT he wears a replica AP.

This doesn't surprise me really - I'm not exactly rich but I'm not exactly poor either; I'd never spend much on any watch, no matter how much money I had.

Besides, buy that $800 super rep, save $20k and put it towards an M5 or pay my mortgage off - good economics!

  10. yeah

i was looking at markwang's website, i feel that it is easiest to deal with him since i am in singapore.

i have noticed a few watch that i have interest in.

IWC ingenieur SS with 2824-2 nickel plated. Double AR (i was wondering how to get lello's wheel and who to install it"

Omega UPO 45mm "wondering how to get the accurate dial"

Aqua Racer Tag heuer. "wondering about the inaccurate part"

Breitling Skyland and also Breitling Blackbird "was wondering if the movement is good and the inaccurate part"

But the problem is, im actually finding a watch closest to original.

Can any one recommend me one such watch? many thanks.

Perhaps you can also add me in msn Graphix1988@hotmail.com to guide me more
