  1. Same here... The Slevin has a brilliant design IMHO and the new aquatimer is just different... not my cup of tea. I
  2. Classic story, thanks for sharing! There are some similar stories with jewelery stores but one may not forget that it
  3. Two fun posts from TZ regarding this watch: "The gas comes out here! See...it's the ORIGINAL gas escape valve design! Aren't you impressed/? Yes... I used to have the Seadweller with the helium escape valve...but it didn't say that on the dial (rehaut, rehaut, rehaut...sorry) so I got this new one instead so EVERYONE would know that my watch will emit gas from the original patented spot at the appropriate time...right...every time I'm dry diving and using the helium mix...yup...the gas comes out right here...see? Yes...I'm very happy with the watch. Oh...of course it was worth $9500! Are you kidding? This has the Ring Lock System! Nobody else has that...well except every other dive watch on the market...but HEY!...they're not the same!...well, yes they are but...That's a unidirectional bezel that marks my dive time (when I'm in the dive bell using the helium mixture so the gas will escape out of the original valve right here on the side of the case...see the words...maybe they should include arrows... see.. it's right here...on the side...yes...the gas comes out there...)It also works great when I'm timing how long I have before I pick up the kids at soccer practice! Tell me how many other Dads can dry dive and pick their kids up from soccer practice on time...all in the same day...with the same watch...see?...see/ do you see how great this watch is?...do you...huh?... 10 reasons for not buying this watch: 10) I don't spend much time by the sea, let along deep in the sea. 9) If I did go deep in the sea, I would think twice about wearing a big shiny shark lure on my wrist whist diving. I did not go to MIT, so it took me 6 months to figure out the guidelock bracelet. 7) Once I figured it out, I realized it would only benefit me in situations of extreme allergic reactions when my wrist had swollen up astronomically very rapidly. 6) I am not allergic to anything. 5) I am not married, and thus have managed to ovoid "Ring Lock Systems" to this point in my life. I am not starting now. No way. 4) I only have room for one "Gas Escape Valve" in my life. Trust me, mine is the original. 3) I think advertising my "Original Gas Escape Valve" while in public might deter women from attempting their "Ring Lock System" on me. 2) My head would implode at 12800 feet below the ocean. I think (emphasis on think) this might be the time when I stopped caring what was on my wrist. 1) I already owned a Breitling and decided the look was not for me."
  4. There was an other comparison on a german watch forum and IMHO this sentence describes Rolex in a more appropriate way: "Rolex is to watches, what Volkswagen to cars - but for the price of a Bentley" (which belongs to VW BTW).
  5. Yes, I read about Breitling too and interestingly Eterna was mentioned on the same level. There are some Eterna watches made for special forces like these http://ablogtoread.com/eterna/holy-grail-e...atch-available/ http://www.50717.com/othercountries/eterna-01.html and I was thinking that maybe these limited editions established Eterna
  6. Same here... Boring and dull mass products which are shamelessly overpriced as gens. This brand is perfect for people who like to pay for marketing. But it
  7. What about starting to design and build a brand new watch and call it "ubiquitous design"
  8. Same here... It was a kind of "how can I say something without telling anything" theatre... First someone may think it
  9. Wise move, "doggified" just did not sound that good... Nick has changed - the amazing posts and watchwork will be still the same. I suppose it
  10. I suppose there is already a starting point here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/King-KingsVote-t94470.html
  11. I think the problem is that the 2894 was not developed as a chrono movement. Basically it
  12. ARTHUR: Well, it doesn't matter. Will you go and tell your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here. GUARD 1: Listen, in order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings 43 times every second, right? ARTHUR: Please! GUARD 1: Am I right? ARTHUR: I'm not interested! GUARD 2: It could be carried by an African swallow! GUARD 1: Oh, yeah, an African swallow maybe, but not a European swallow, that's my point. GUARD 2: Oh, yeah, I agree with that... ARTHUR: Will you ask your master if he wants to join my court at Camelot?! GUARD 1: But then of course African swallows are not migratory. GUARD 2: Oh, yeah... GUARD 1: So they couldn't bring a coconut back anyway... [clop clop] GUARD 2: Wait a minute -- supposing two swallows carried it together? GUARD 1: No, they'd have to have it on a line. GUARD 2: Well, simple! They'd just use a standard creeper! GUARD 1: What, held under the dorsal guiding feathers? GUARD 2: Well, why not?
  13. Somehow I do not really like the new album. "Wrong" is a great song and I like "Perfect" and "Jezebel" but that
  14. This movement looks very nice. As far as I can tell it is indeed an ETA 2892 as it was mentioned above. There are some oldschool reps with this movement, e.g. VC Overseas or Franck Muller Casablanca. I
  15. That wine reminds me of a Gordon Ramsay TV programm (The F Word). There was a wine expert (Matt Skinner) who had to guess different wines and their prices. He was right regarding the wine "Blue Nun" costing under 5 Pounds and "Penfold" for around 500 Pounds. When he tried "Petrus" '92, which costs 1000 Pounds a bottle, he said it
  16. She must have escaped from the Menschenaffenhaus. I hope they put her back in the cage after her stunt...
  17. Hmm, that seems to be standard procedure.... I had some paypal transactions last month and there were some rwg sales too. Suddenly I just got a message that I received funds of over 1.800 Euro - which was NOT true - and therefore there is a need for security check: credit card check, invoice with my address was requested, some info about the transactions, etc. I managed to transfer all the amount from paypal to my bank account so it turned out ok after all but paypal still sucks! I think if someone transfers money from paypal to the bank account immediatelly after receiving it, they block the transaction for some time out of security reasons too...
  18. Maybe... Maybe the seller is simply lying because he does not want to complete the deal... As buyer you could try to find the exact same item you bought through the auction and tell the seller that it is still available. As there is a binding contract, you can claim delivery of the item. And for the feedback: The deal was not satisfactory at all. A negative feedback is justified IMO (timewasting, unreliable seller).
  19. ...there you said everything regarding ebay. They will not do anything. You can leave a negative feedback but does it help? You still lost a good deal. The thing is: There is a binding contract between you and the seller. If you want to fight it to the end, there is only one way (if the seller refuses to deliver): a legal process. If it
  20. I really like the design of this watch. I wish it
