  1. I understand what is meant by the "Swiss Made" alignment and I can see that while close, it is not perfect. I am curious when you are speaking of bezel alignment - are you speaking of whether or not the white triangle on the bezel aligns well/perfectly with the chrono hand/12 o'clock position? (or perhaps I should ask, is that what you look at to determine the bezel alignment?) I am asking because I will probably order this watch from Ruby at some point (I have used her for my first rep and was very happy) and I want to stress what things I want her to look for). Appreciate the clarification! Again, beautiful watch!
  2. Khurram, May I ask who you purchased from? Beautiful pictures. This watch is at or near the top of my list... I am debating my next purchase right now... Totally unrelated, I gotta say, Chrgod, your banner has been fascinating me for a long time. I usually don't like blondes but...
  3. I use AVG antivirus from Grisoft. It is free (the basic edition), very reliable, and has a much smaller "memory footprint" than the "bloatware" antivirus programs such as Mcafee and Norton. They work fine but they consume more system resources and they cost money. I also use two anti-spyware programs. One is Spybot Search & Destroy and the other is Spyware blaster. On Spybot you should enable "teatimer" which will prevent ANY changes to your system registry without you authorizing it first. This happens when you install software or when someone tries to install software without your knowledge. With Spywareblaster you can easily disable all tracking cookies. These three programs together, along with Windows firewall enabled, are totally impenetrable. I use eMule without problem though I have to open dedicated TCP/ICP ports in my router for it to work really well. I am not familiar with Bittorrent so I can't say much except just try it. You DON'T want to be wandering around without a raincoat. http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-an...us-free-edition http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
  4. Kill them. They will rob you blind. If you call the cops they will just laugh and if you just knock them around they (or others of their kind) will keep coming back. Stick them in boiling water and then skin them. Nail the hides to the outside of your house. You shouldn't have any more problems.
  5. Beautiful pics Raymond. I never get tired of looking at pics of watches. I got my SSD yesterday and am still really excited. Here are the ones of MY SSD - looks kind of like yours: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=74070
  6. BK at RWI and RepGeek has a crown/tube combination that fits the 117 case. I think he sells them separately (I mean apart from his modded watches) - here's the link: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=17312
  7. Depends on where you go. In areas where this is money there are nice watches - people here who have money like to show it off, that is for sure. The rule in the U.S. that you can't really tell a person's worth from the way they dress or their car does not really hold true here. People usually display MORE wealth than they really have - and for that reason there is a thriving business in fake everything - though I have never seen really good reps here. There may be but I have yet to see any though I have seen a million guys selling crap fakes on the street.
  8. I ordered a Super Sea-Dweller from Ruby 22 days ago. Since then I have endured long days and even longer nights punctuated by hourly visits to the EMS tracking page. Today my suffering was lifted, my pain was removed, a shining light fell from on high and I felt the spirit move in me. About 15 minutes later my SSD arrived. This is my first replica watch. I am thrilled to death that for the moment it has none of the myriad problems that reps sometimes have upon delivery - dust under crystal, crooked markers, misalignments of various types, seized screws, problems with clasp, etc. I removed one link, replaced the diver's extension with the longer gen from my Sea-Dweller tool kit, and shot some photos. The watch was running when I received it so I set it and so far it is keeping good time. Tomorrow I will check it over 24 hours to see exactly how many seconds it is gaining/losing. I am aware of the problems with the SSD - which can be fixed and which cannot but I have to say that regardless, this rep is a thing of beauty. I could hardly be happier. I could only hope that my future transactions will have such happy endings... I may do some sort of review of the whole transaction at some point but for now I will let photography express what my humble vocabulary cannot begin to convey... Behold: Side by side with it's new sibling - my Poljot Sturmanskie "Civil":
  9. I always pronounce it E. T. A. but figured there was probably another way. Does anyone actually say, "F. I. F. A."?
  10. It is pronounced with emphasis on first syllable and the first syllable is an E like it "he" - Think Yee Haw! but with a "T" EEEE-Taaaaa!!!! Just kidding, I have no idea.
  11. You could make a fake receipt and carry it in your wallet. In fact you could make up a fake repair service receipt from an authorized dealer. Then if anyone asks you if it is fake you could pull out the receipt and say, "No it is genuine and I have the receipt for servicing from the dealer, so clearly this must be genuine, here look, no, no, here, LOOK at it, no, you're not reading it...LOOK AT IT!!!!" Always works for me.
  12. I find talking like this to customs officers always gets me through quickly and without hassle. I highly recommend JuiceMaker's approach.
  13. And look at this thread too - there is some discussion of remedies... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=72693
  14. I agree. Can you give more details - when the watch was ordered? When did you email? What did the response say?
  15. No, his bank didn't encourage him, an EMPLOYEE of the bank who was speaking his own personal opinion made this statement. And I have not the slightest doubt he also said "I didn't tell you this but...." I have no moral problem with anyone lying to their cc provider under these circumstances - despite Pix's reference to "mind and moral" or Statos referring to "the right thing." The simple fact is that if you pay for merchandise by credit card in the United States and don't receive anything in return, the card issuer (Visa for example) will initiate a chargeback on your claim that the item was not received and that the seller is non-responsive. Then it is up to the merchant to prove the item (or service) was delivered to the card holder. As a card holder having made a purchase over the internet, I am under no obligation to provide ANY evidence. The burden is upon the seller. The people who are suggesting you must provide receipts have never been through this process - they are imagining what they THINK would happen. If you have paid by credit card, there is ALREADY a record of the purchase on the issuers server - you don't have to provide the receipt (and in all likelihood none exists). Nor do you have to identify the merchandise as a "fake" watch. You bought a watch. Period. If they even ask - which in my case they did not. I think that before suggesting a path that could easily ruin someone's credit rating and possible incur criminal liabilities, no matter how unlikely that may be, common sense would dictate that we give accurate information about possible outcomes of all possible remedies. If the OP tells his issuer he never made the charge, probably nothing will happen. But the potential consequences are severe if he is caught. And suggesting that the original poster, if he chooses to simply initiate a chargeback, will not receive any relief from the card issuer, is pure nonsense. For anyone who wishes to know EXACTLY what rights and obligations the card holder has under these circumstances they have but to refer to their own credit card agreement or visit the Federal Trade Commission's website at www.ftc.gov/ which has much information on the consumer's rights in credit card transactions.
  16. In the United States (I am not sure where OP is located) if a consumer pays by credit card and the merchandise is not delivered, the credit provider will initiate a chargeback and the burden is upon the seller to provide evidence of delivery of goods or services. It is neither complicated nor time consuming. Alleging unauthorized use of the card on the other hand triggers an investigation by the in-house fraud department. If you are caught you can kiss your credit rating goodbye and the issuer, at its discretion, may turn the case over to the state's Attorney General's office for further investigation. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by lying to the card issuer under these circumstances and quite a bit to be lost. This is not a good idea - it is a decidedly BAD idea.
  17. inkedOg, I would follow Pix's advice. If you paid by cc you are protected. I myself would not deny having made the charge because that is a dangerous game and is in fact a fraudulent statement. Good luck.
  18. Name the dealer for goodness sake. How are we supposed to avoid the same pitfalls if you don't name and shame?
  19. I have said before that I am watching EuroTimez and I am sure that at some point I am going to order a watch from him. This thread spurred me to look at his subforum again. I had said some time ago that a smart dealer would be taking advantage of this forum to get suggestions from his clients - what better way to improve your customer satisfaction and repeat business and thus your own profits? Dealers who listen to members here have EVERYTHING to gain. So I found a new "Suggestion Box" (linked below) in his forum and I not only feel that the dealer we have been waiting for may be on our doorstep, but also that anyone here who really wants to have superior service (even those who hold tight to the belief that it will never happen) should take advantage and make any useful suggestions they can think of to EuroTimez here. We have nothing whatsoever to lose: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=72451 I predict that little by little this guy is going to begin to erode the sales of many of the "trusted" dealers commonly used by members of these forums. When that happens they will either accept the loss of sales or they will copy EuroTimez in order to remain competitive (at least among the members of the various forums). But they will not succeed in maintaining the same level of sales without changing their behaviour. The biggest advantage of free markets is their Darwinian nature. The fact that EuroTimez QC's and now offers a suggestion box is proof that our voices count. If we lie down and take the poor service and poor QC and say, "well it's China, it's illegal, they're fakes, you're a noob and just need to accept that there's nuthin we can do about it", well, THAT attitude is the one that will GUARANTEE that nothing ever changes. No revolution was ever waged in silence.
  20. The first dealer who comes along and offers a large inventory, in stock items shipped within 24 hours, a decent warranty (some do already), quick response to emails, and good QC ALL UNDER ONE ROOF is going to kick the [censored] out of the other dealers. Then we will see how long it takes them to shape up.
  21. Here is a close up of the dial - wider spacing on some watches doesn't bother me but on this one it would eat into the sticks and that would be a shame - sure is a beauty. I will end up getting the non-chrono version which is repped...
  22. bump - I have the same question. I have searched most of the major dealers and don't find it. Probably doesn't exist but I thought I would ask too.
  23. Yup - forgot I did this once - tix to London and separately purchased tix to Madrid = baggage claim, customs, recheck luggage, all to save 50 bucks. Last time I did that.
