  1. Interesting thread.....my sister wants a birkin and knows I'm into watches so she asked me to see what I could find.....so here's the question: any information or thoughts on Francis Tse and his products? Seems to be the MBW of rep handbags.... thanks for any feedback.
  2. I really don't understand what these guys are talking about (as I look at my modded MBW DRSD whilst I type) wondering if I should change to my yachtmaster rolesium for dinner and cursing to the sky that my Cartier Pasha has not arrived yet (geeze, I ordered it yesterday).... welcome....and the yachmaster is a great choice. jeff ps: next choice should be a Panerai 111H. (that was yesterdays "watch of choice") BTW: when you say only one more for this year I assume you mean till the end of 2006. January begins a new year!
  3. you might want to start following this thread: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=10768 Ubi really knows his stuff and if he pulls this off, you know the dial will be great. $120 is not to bad for servicing a movement and waterproofing...you have to decide how you are going to be using the watch....now, if it we're me (I don't let my watches get wet!)...I'd buy the $208 "special" then see if the dial thing pans out...if it does, I'd buy the dial and then send the whole thing off to The Zigmeister to redial and service.... BTW...can someone figure out the math for me....the serviced perfect Yachtmaster is $348 or the same watch (non-serviced) is $208 with $120 for service and waterproof...
  4. yepme: I bought my rolesium yachtmaster from Sash5...excellent transaction....It's his "perfect model" and I like it alot...dealing with him was easy and shipping was fast (had the watch in Ohio within 10 days)....I believe I paid $200 (with ETA), however, it was a grand opening sale so if you go with him expect a bit more....nice choice BTW...on the Yachtmasters the biggest issues are the "redness" of the Yachtmaster on the dial and a full complement of second tic marks in the six o'clock position.... So welcome and enjoy the watch!
  5. Freddy: plenty of pictures of MBW watches on the forum(s)...just seach and you'll find them. Only two real places to get them: George and Watchmaster. Watchmaster claims his stuff is not MBW, but consensus is that the quality is equal. They hang out at TRC. They are expensive...check out the pics, etc. and you will be able to determine if you think they are worth it.... welcome jeff
  6. 1. PAM titanium with logo dial 2. River 3. still have it.....I'm getting a 177H dial from Phoband and upgrading through The Zigmeister
  7. KKS: here's a recent Watchmaster ad from TRC for his Comex...complete with pics...you might want to send him a PM because it doesn't say it's been sold....BTW, it does have HE valve. http://www.replicacollector.com/members/in...showtopic=25977
  8. Thanks for the info and opinions...I think I like the way the riveted bracelet looks and I'll go with that... jeff
  9. I have an MBW DRSD which I'm starting to "fix up"...I also have both a regular "flip lock" bracelet and a nice riveted bracelet. Is one more accurate than the other and/or more desirable? I need to put the one I don't use on another watch....so which would you use on the DRSD? thanks for the advise. jeff
  10. Keeno: MBW stands for "Maria's Best Watch"....Maria (a guy) was a dealer back in the old days. The MBW vintage rollies (Double Red, Single Red, Comex, Milgauss) are considered the best in as much as they will accept genuine Rol*x parts. They are expensive (between $400-$500 USD). You can also get MBW reps of modern rollies, but the consensus is that you can probably do better as far as price with most of the subs from preferred dealers. Do a search on MBW and you'll find a lot of information and pictures (10 pages). The only known dealer is George and he hangs out on TRC (but you'll have to work a bit to find him)....they also come up for sale in the members areas.
  11. Hey, if he email someone the pics..please post them...we'd all like to see what this looks like!
  12. Not wanting to detour you, but have you looked at the Davidsen 183H he's advertising with superlum? Very nice....also, he's selling a pvd 111, so I suspect that you could get that from him in either pvd or regular version....
  13. I wonder if the price goes down as the quanity above 10 goes up.....
  14. If it's not too late...count me in....I'm a block away from a WU outlet!
  15. Welcome: there was a thread recently regarding the Chanel reps....basically there are 4 versions. The very best is genuine ceramic with a quartz movement similar to what is in the gen. EL indicated that you need to spend upwards of $500 for the best.....like a lot of things, it's out there..you just gotta pay for it... again...welcome.. jeff
  16. Neb: My wife and I try and go to London at least every other year....we swear by London Walks (www.walks.com) Our two favorites are the Jack the Ripper walk where you visit the sites where the ripper killings took place (Make sure you get Donald Rumbelow as your guide...because the ripper was never caught, it is still an open case for Scotland Yard and Rumbelow was the detective assigned to the case)...and... Along the Thames Pub Walk...the guide was a Shakesperean actor and we drank beer and visited pubs (including the oldest in London) and he told about the history of the town (including why the English drive on the right)....the walks are fairly cheap (around 5 pounds)...the British Museum tour was great: all the highlights in 2 hours.... enjoy PS: if you're a scotch drinker Milroy's in Soho wuld be a great place to buy me a gift for these great suggestions!
  17. I have been discussing with another member either selling or trading watch(es). When I discovered he lived in Japan and I'm in the US....all of the thoughts of posts of customs issues, dealers warning of higher scrunity, how dealers ship with fake names and addresses, etc. came flooding over me. Questions: Am I just being paranoid, or should I be concerned? I realize I can make confiscation his problem, but if my name is on the documents, and I'm shipping rep goods, then I'm kinda on the hook. The buyer/trader wants the package to be registered with tracking......should I just confine my transactions to within the US (I do have other interest parties in the US)? Are there any tricks (fake names and address, etc.) that would be wise? I appreciate any thoughts you all might have. thanks in advance...
  18. cibOrman: don't know if you are also signed up on RWI (and you may have to to view this ad), but I would be remiss if I did not mention one of Davidsen's vintage Panerais....this one is simple, has a solid back, new crown guards, and is really nice... take a look. http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4993 jeff
  19. watchski: welcome and you won't find a better dealer than River...if you're thinking PAM 111 (I'd get the h model) check out his 111h asian for $119....bargain! jeff
  20. none: if you are considering the Santos 100..don't forget the difficulty that people have finding a source for replacement straps...and a gen strap is around $300.....
  21. My wife are taking a cruise in March 2007 as a 30th anniversay/retirement present to each other. I know some of you either live in those cities and/or travel there for business. What I'm interested in is any recommendations that you might have for hotels to stay. Given the nature of the trip, we're looking for something nice....thanks... jeff also, any "must does" in either city?
  22. Just wanted to add my thanks to Thom for putting this together....what better way to spend a hot Sunday than having a few cocktails in an air conditioned bar talking watches.....thanks again! jeff (buckeye)
  23. cornerstone: at least for today, you are in cync with the force!
  24. the black looks a bit more finished to me...more subtle...... that being said...V you have put together a beautiful watch there. I'm sure you realize that there is no bad decision here......I wish Davidsen wouldn't waste his time with that pvd "slytech" he just posted and do what you have done here...congrats. jeff
