  1. TX: this is a quote from The Zigmeister regarding the asian 7750: Update "This article was written before the latest version of the Asian 7750 was produced. The newest version of the Asian 7750, is as good as the ETA one, and has corrected all of the defects with the older version.." I know there is a review somewhere, but it didn't jump out at me...so you get anotated version. As I understand it, the big problem with the new one comes with "seconds @ 6" like in a Daytona. This requires 11 more gears which put too much stress on the movement. hope this helps. jeff
  2. They're so expensive because they have the "hard to get" ETA 2886 movements!!!!!
  3. Sure: MBW stands for "Maria's Best Watch"....these watches have taken on a bit of a "mythic" quality....generally know for vintage rolexes (Comex, DRSD, etc) many/most consider these to be the closest to the real thing reps...to the point that the vintage models will take genuine Rolex parts without modification (crystals, bezel inserts, crowns, dials)...The only MBW dealer active on the boards (RWI & TRC) is Luckyyy....and there are questions as to whether he will even sell to a noob AND questions as to whether or not you should buy from him.... now the speech....there's a ton of posting regarding MBWs...use the search button and you can fill in a lot of the detail, see some pictures, and learn about Maria, Luckyyy, etc... BTW, they are also not cheap ..... jeff
  4. Thom: thanks for putting this together and I'll see you there. I'm coming home from Florida a day early to be there! jeff
  5. It's easier and more lucrative to arrest and fine a 12 year old "tourist".....
  6. chrono: thanks for staying on top of this....I'm in Cleveland and will be there.....now, what to wear, what to wear........
  7. I was on a carribean cruise a month back (Seadream Yacht Club). Ship carries 110 passengers. 3 couples with matching gold Presidents, a Panerai, 2 IWCs, a couple of subs (tt & ss),and several Breitling aerospaces....I was amazed. Me:rep PAM 005 and gen Oakley..Wifey: gen Corum bubble....
  8. Antonio: I know sometimes people (newbies) react negatively to the "take some time and read" advise...people are not trying to give you a hard time...it really is the best advise you can get. As you read, you'll find that all reps are from China and the "swiss" part generally refers to reps with ETA movements (which are swiss, but probably assembled in China!).....as you read you'll start to see the range of options available: are you a R*lex person? And if you are is it daydate or sub? Stainless or TwoTone? And of course Panerai...wait till you see the choices from the 111h to the new davidsen PVDs....speaking of that do you prefer vintage (r*lex DRSD) or new....Panerai: sandwich dial, suasage dial pre-V or pre-A? 6 months ago I couldn't have conceptionalized these questions, let alone known the answers and how they translated into purchase decisions. And the dealers...everyone has their experiences and preferences AND for the most part have documented those on the board. So, the best advice (which i suspect you won't take--especially the buying part) is don't buy anything for two weeks and read as much as you can. Once you've done that, you'll get a sense of the field and you'll enjoy the hobby even more. Otherwise, just buy the best sub..... jeff
  9. @Bres: Here's a pic from EL website. Note the 4 "little" screws on the corners of the case. Each screw secures a "wire" which go into the springbar channel on the watchband. Biggest problem is that if you lose one of the little screws...you've got a big problem... http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a210/sun...w¤t=9.jpg @shive: post some pics of the watch with the stingray band...I'm curious as to how it will look with the stingray's "white dots" and the gold watch..... jeff
  10. Shrive: I'm in Cleveland...when I ordered from Josh it took 8 days..... jeff
  11. not that there's a fixation with women on this board...but I think I speak for the group in saying that we wait with baited breath to view your watches....did I say watches? welcome...River is awesome...good choice. BTW, my wife wants the Chanel ceramic which he also carries...
  12. Cabbage: try this: http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3418 if you need more info or detail, let me know....
  13. my wife is Polish too....but I think she must have come from a different part of the country.... you sir, are a very lucky guy! jeff
  14. I have two of the ball-points (from Adam)....I use the Parker gel refill and it fits perfectly. My understanding is that the rep pen uses a rep refill and a gen refill is larger....so, if you must use a gen refill then you will need to "open" the barrel a bit using a "sand paper" that works on metal.

he posts his "wares" on RWI and TRC......you might want to read the dealer reviews before you decide......seems that they are variable (althought I have purchased from him without much trouble)...
  16. just was there..no problems here!
  17. the "silver lining" is that you now have a competent local watch repair guy who'll work on your reps....
  18. iiotoko: I checked a bit and Josh has one his site in rose gold (plus the one dadog mentioned)...but the RG dial is different (there's also WG in the same dial)...you probably need to check what dial you want. http://perfect-clones.com/product_info.php...products_id=573 some general info: http://ninanet.net/watches/others08/Mediums/mpateko.html BTW...there's a guy who posts here from Germany who has an e-Bay site that sells the deployant from the article (same guy who sells the decorated IWC Jones movement)...not cheap ($150)...but I'd consider it if I bought the watch. It's not RG, so if I was going to go for it, I'd think about the gold... jeff
  19. Saw Cream open for The Boxtops at the Butler University (Indianapolis) homecoming.....drove up from Bloomington with a friend who was a guitar player in a local band......he cried while watching Clapton play...the students booed the long solos and we left after the opening act....although I heard that the Boixtops got good reviews in the Butler Blade...........
  20. here's another vote.....hey what are we voting on????????
  21. I checked mine prior to sending it to The Zigmeister.....44 and 46 hours on a full wind...
  22. you could PM and see if still available..... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...&hl=rolex+crown
  23. golf: MBW stands for "Maria's Best Watch". These watches (along with Watchmaster) are considered amongst the very best reps. They specialize in vintage Rolex and are known to be able to fit gen Rolex parts. Where they are made is a bit of a mythology and how to get them is a bit of a "journey". Luckily, a dealer named Luckyyy (TRC and RWI) has access to them and can supply. Generally he does not sell to newbies..but if you are really interested, then I suggest you become a VIP member and post a bit. They are a somewhat more expensive, but not so much as to put them out of reach (around $400 + or -).....now serarch, read, and enjoy.... another good link: http://www.replicacollector.com/members/in...showtopic=22885 jeff
  24. Ryyannon: Everything But the Girl is a real favorite...funny that there's not much (if anything) from Tracey Thorn since the group retired...AND Astral Weeks is perhaps one of the top ten albums ever......that being said, I'm listening to: 1. Damien Rice 2. October Project (got a live dub from the guy who used to work their soundboard) 3. Over the Rhine (Cincinatti's finest) 4. Gary Allan (country) jeff
