  1. This WORLD needs help with the "I" and "ME" syndrome. This is the ultimate of all grammatical errors today...I hear this on TV and radio from newscasters to DJ's...and everyone else. "This is a picture of John and I walking in the park" WRONG!!!!!!!!!! "This is a picture of John and me walking in the park" CORRECT!!!!!!!! You wouldn't say "This is a picture of "I" walking in the park" ...you would say me. I even saw where someone wrote: "That's Ross and I's cat in that picture" - WHAT???? I's????? DUUUUUUHHH! Drives me nuts!
  2. Zig, sorry this happened...but, you seem to be taking it well. We sometimes don't think about what we've got until it's damaged or gone (not saying you). But, I've seen this before and you'll be fine. The center of your doughnut looks fine. Get some rest and the swelling will go down soon...and stop the driving. That image is awesome...it's amazing what can happen to us and how our bodies react. Speedy recovery man!
  3. I like that Silver Roman. Here's my old one...the real deal was much nicer than the pic.
  4. Yea, Pho beat me to it, but... I was thinking we could do a LOGO contest. We did this on another forum. However, there were so many good submissions that the banner is now a rotating (animated gif) with all the logos that won. Could be fun and something that many people could do to contribute.
  5. EL WAS THE MAN!!!!!!! One of the worst things I've had happen on this board is knowing that EL will no longer be in our world here. He was my top dealer and there was NEVER any problem with all the reps acquired from him. If there was even a question about anything, he was already sending me a replacement...even if I didn't think he needed to. Even when inquiring about certian reps on his photo list, he'd send it over for me to check out and I could return it...however, I always made the purchase. Today, I still own his wares...and those that didn't get lost in the flood are still running fine. I've emailed him since his departure, a couple of times, hoping that he'd reconsider...but, no good. I really wish he was still around.
  6. Wow...that IS a work of art! Just beautiful! Enjoy!!
  7. Lots of amphibians around here! Welcome!!!
  8. I just love 5th Avenue...but, the wallet was just a little light for these places. (I guess that's one of the reasons to hang around at RWG)
  9. Well, I've been here since Wednesday...but, I leave on Sunday. WOW...I've probably seen the worst reps out there. Times Square, Broadway, China Town, Little Italy, The Bowery, Canal Street. I also found some of the most expensive watches as well...5th avenue. But, window shopping is all I can do here. Since I've been here, I was followed on the subway (scary), pan handled by many loonies, and almost pick-pocketed watching the cops swarm on some fool fighting with a vendor on the street. That last one was a trip....when the sirens went off and about 25 cops came running from all angles, I've never seen so many vendors pack up that quick and haul ass. Crazy stuff. But, back to the reps. I found a sweet Patek dress turby and an Omega Orange monster...but, they'll probably stop as soon as I walk on the plane to head home. LOL. I just had to pick up something while I'm here...and chump change out of my pocket isn't that bad. Mostly, everything in China town is laughable...but, they were eyeballing my Rollie SD...so, maybe they think I got it from the vendor next door. I'll update more later with some pics when I get home.
  10. Well, I don't believe it really matters...and it's just personal preference. However, I personally hate anything that's stuck to my skin. Where I live, there is a lot of humidity and things get a little "sticky" at times. So, I always have a watch band sized to where it will move around on my wrist just a little. I hate it to be too tight. If I were to wear it up on my arm, rather than close to my hand, it would drive me nuts. Even when I'm driving, it rides up to my arm and gets a little tight...so I always shake it down to the hand. That's just my take on things.
  11. I'm called "froggy" all the time here. However, my given first and last names both have one vowel in them. So, it's kind of hard to shorten either of them. Most of the time, my friends refer to me by my last name only. But, I don't mind that I guess.
  12. AAHH HA HA HA HA! Classic! Yea...I always have a counter offer to BS scare tactics.
  13. The choice of blue for this watch is just horrid. It's like 1970's bathroom tile blue. I mean there are literally thousands of combinations of color that could be used and it looks as if they just pointed at one and said: "what the hell, let's go with this one" Bad choice. I guess they forgot to use the Pantone Color Chart for reference. I love the green on my LV, however...a buddy of mine just got a (second hand) GEN 50th and it's quite nice.
  14. Wow...that's a beauty. I love that super SD. And your pictures are well done. I want another one now.
  15. Wow Volker!!! I just love your watches...and great positioning photography. I need to re-evaluate my skills (and take some lessons from you). You've got better props than I do around the house. Ok...now I've got a project. Just beautiful! ps: Hope the rain subsides...and you can have an enjoyable vacation.
  16. That was a bit uneasy...but, DONE! (my father was a dentist...so I know the value of good teeth)
  17. Yes, my friend, I did say WANT to buy...not necessarily will. However, one day, who knows. My wife and I vowed that we will visit Maui every other year or at least within a 5 year period. I want to golf at Kapalua Bay again! On the big Island, we stayed at Chalet Kilauea in the Ohia rain forest (outside of Volcano Village, Hilo). It was the most unique place I'd ever been...couldn't live there, but it was most certainly worth the stay. Additionally, there was a Thai restaurant called "Thai Thai" that has to be the best Thai food we'd ever had. I know that's not pure Hawaiian, but we're going back there one day as well. I'll let you know next time we're in Maui...we should meet for a "Lava Flow" or 2 or 3.
  18. How about Israel Kamakawiwo'ole? Please be easy on the dumb tourist. I only know the islands as my 2 week Honeymoon and I'm sure there's more traditional stuff out there that the locals listen to. However, while we were there, we were treated to this music all over Maui and the Big Island. Anytime I think of IZ, I think of one of the best trips I've ever taken. The food was amazing, the weather was amazing, the service industry was amazing, etc. etc. I want to buy a vacation house in Kapalua or Lahaina.
  19. Yea, but check out that Sinn 1746! Wow...that's my style. Nice! However, I don't buy from eBay...screwed too many times.
  20. Wow...I'm impressed these guys are still doing the Beatlemania thing. I went to see them in high school...about 25 or so years ago. They played at an outdoor stadium in a local park. We actually snuck in because, at the time, we didn't have $11 for the door. (There was a small hole in the bottom of a fence around the side. There was a guy at the top of the stadium doing lookout for anyone sneaking in...we waited for him to give us the "ok" sign and we shimmied under the gate. Ha Ha...sorry I just had to tell the story.) As you said...the members of the band, at that time, were pretty much spot on. Very similar in sound and dress. Not necessarily looks, if I recall, but everything else was just about perfect. I loved every minute of it...or what I could remember. Those were some "blurry" times. I'd go see them again! Glad you and your daughter had fun.
  21. I love the YM (I just need a new one) and I liked your pictures! About 10 years ago, I had a very nice set of Japanese Swords: Tanto, Diato, Wakizashi - If I spelled it correctly. I sold them to make a move and wish I had kept them. I love the tsuba on yours.
  22. My father was in WWII and just turned 90. He STILL has an Omega (Deville, I think) that he bought during the war. It's not been through 70 years of salt water, but it's still running just right. The only thing changed on it was the band. He promised it to me in the will...but, I may have to fight my older brother for it. We'll see. Cool story anyway.
  23. OK, I understand that it has to be somewhere that everyone loves and/or could make without too much burden. HOW ABOUT NEW ORLEANS? Not during Mardi Gras...but, during JAZZ AND HERITAGE FESTIVAL!!!!! People come from all over to do the festival, but this does not fill up all the hotels in the city, like Mardi Gras would. The time is the last weekend of April and the first weekend of May. So, there's your WEEK. And no holiday prices. I've been in New Orleans for 40 of my 40 years of life...I know the in's and outs like the back of my hand. Where to go...and more importantly, where NOT to go. Contrary to popular "out of towner" beliefs, we are NOT still underwater...and we have come back bigger and better than before. I don't have time to host this myself, but I sure could give you all the details, hotels, venues, events, restaurants, and local information that the general tourist would not know. Most people here have no idea about reps...so, the laws are probably easy. However, the lawmakers here would own reps if they knew what they were. They're more concerned about making money for themselves to worry about reps. As far as crime here? If you look like a local, act like a local, and say: "I'm local" to any low life...they'll leave you alone. And I can teach you the rules on this one. The European and American history here would take up about 100 posts or more, so I'll just leave it at that...but, if you don't know about this place, look it up on Wiki or something. Just a lengthy thought.
  24. Wow...that's one of the coolest looking Skellies I've seen. Great job. I look forward to the final!
