  1. wow Anakin..a great and very informative post... thanks for the pictures also. I wish this came along sooner as it might have given me confidence to have done it on my own SMP. That being said i dont think i would be brave enough to carry out such a task (with or without the right tools!) hehe

    Thanks for the tutorial again..

  2. I got it from Sinowatch. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the pearl on the bezel. According to some users here, the pearl on mine looks very close to the gen..

Does anyone know how the Sinowatch smp compares to the Silix versions? As far as i can tell from the pictures and review videos, they are the same thing. Though if the pearl as imranbecks say is better than most then maybe this one has one up on Silix's version.

  3. Very good pics, there.

Now, to address your insert fall-out question: I've not heard of this occurring on the SMP 300M, only on the chrono. My chrono had this issue, and after re-application three times, only to repeat its penchant for detachment, I finally cleaned it of old adhesive, and applied a few drops of 'Gorilla Glue'. It's been perfect ever since.

Your watch's only obvious problem (which I'm surprised no-one of our anal-retentive members has pointed out thus far) is the usual mis-aligned insert. A small rotation following a heat treatment should do it. It's the only thing standing between you and a really close to spot-on rep.

Notice how the insert markers are aligned with the 'peaks' of the bezel on the gen.

funny i nvere thought to look at the misaligned bezel... must be too busy admiriing the watch as a whole! hehe... One thing that i dont really get, and maybe someone can help me out is the method of realigning ( the haird dryer method). Many have mentioned heating the bezel such that a glue softens and the bezel cn be moved and left to dry again... but would this compromise the integrity of the glue so to speak... meaning that the glue used wont be as strong as when initially applied?

It seems the safer method is take out the bezel and going for a reapplication...am i right?

  4. Hi Guys

Sit back, relax..............and picture me rolling with my new Omega sea master GMT!! :) :)

I must say a special thanks to By tor for his great review of the watch and Tutorial on GMT feature.

This was what made me go for this watch :D

Congrats on the GMT!... though, hard to picture you with it without any PICTURES hehe cant wait to see them?

  5. I should add.. most importantly.. Chiefs new generation AR.. has practically "no Hue" .. so it works brilliantly with the SMP.. since there is no visible colour to the AR.. it just amplifies the dial colour and "detail"..

.... What crystal? and what hue? i see nothing!! heheh :p

Wow i must say the new double AR looks incredible... i keep imagining all my watch pieces covered with double AR now and what they would look like hehe

  6. Please could you help me?

    thanks

    Hey fitipaldi2,

Im not sure if the new chorno versions crown can fit the old one, but maybe some of the wise fellows here can help! :)

I share your problem as my crown on my SMP is gettting loose also! Ive been recommended to get a gen crown, tube and stem on it to solve the problem- but as u said it is around $77 minus the shipping and parts.

Hopefully your local watchmaker can have it done for you.

  7. hi guys

I have just bought a brand new 2254.5 - i am looking to change for a lovely black rubber diver strap or maybe black leather.

can anyone recommend a place to get hold of one? i think a rep may be needed as i read the quality is very good for a lot less money...!

also what size would i need to buy? i only ask as i saw this:

    SMP2254.50.JPG

and the owner mentioned its on a PO strap....surely the case is too small to fit it?

    thanks very much!

    Gday dudman!

Id read into some info on the reps before going ahead with one. Just so you can be prepared for what to expect. Though there are alot of great versions with great quality, their not without their small setbacks that sets them apart from the real deal. For your info, i am aware that the PO style rubber strap is available for the PO (both 42mm and 45mm versions) and also in a smaller size for the SMPs. Ofrei might list them if you check out the site :)

The Strap/lug size for the SMP is 20mm. Goodluck!

Hope that helps..other please correct me if im wrong :p

  8. Hah hah...QC delays are very "common".

QC on waiting for arrival of the watch maybe...but Jay has always come through for me in the end.

The wobbly crown is common...even with the SMP Chrono. I left mine for awhile...until the crown stripped...and then had The Zigmeister upgrade to a gen tube and crown. You can check out my review of the SMP Chrono for details.

Congrats...and good to see you posting.

Hopefully the crown on mine wont strip for some time to come until i can find someone to do me a gen crown and service :p Great review on the chrono btw :)

    is this a 21 j asian movement?

Silix SMP version is ETA (this was his answer to me when i asked him).. and as far as i am aware, ETA clone from all the reviews and information ive read on the forums. I havent opened the caseback so i cant be 100% sure though..sorry.

Ive yet to handle a Asian21j rep but since im going bond crazy i might be able to do so with a WBK SMP :D

  9. I think you will just be happy with it the way it is :D

your right there mate :) im well happy with it hehe. Though it sometimes feels like the crown would fall off at any given time. I guess if i manage to find a watchmaker in Sydney who is willing to fix reps i might give it a go..(its too scary a project for me to ever try doing it myself!)

  10. Hi everyone, ive been a long time lurker here and finally grown some balls to decide to post more actively :p

Id just like to share my joy and owning my first rep with all the Omega and rep enthusiast.

Its a Silix rep ( i hear to be the best version SMP atm), and its a great piece!.

I realise there has been some issues with Silix of late but i dedicded to give him (Jay) a go anyways. It took around 4 weeks which was expected for the watch to arrive but im happy none the less. Jays service was great replying back to my queries within 24 hrs and also including a picture of the watch before he sent it!

Just to note that i did get a notice about my watch initially not passing QC which was the reason it took 4 weeks <_< ... that excuse im suspect of but no harm done! Anyways, the obvious flaws of the rep arent too noticable in hand but the main flaw that worries me is that the crown appears to be wobbly when unscrewed... I guess now i need to go through the task of finding a reliable watchsmith in Sydney that will do reps to get a gen crown fitted! I was just wondering if this crown issue was very common in omega reps and also if its something i should be owrried about?

Anyways here is a strip tease (of sorts) of the watch..sorry my photos arent too flash, i was too excited haha Now i have my eye on a WBK rep or them 'bargain bonds'!

  11. Check with King.

Is this the watch you want?

    post-216-1211926449_thumb.jpg

Yup it sure is! thanks for the help from all you guys! Just for your information:

Chcked with WBk and he is out of them atm,

King, Angus and Ruby have them available i think its the Ultimate 2007 versions..might be getting one very soon :D

  12. Which GMT are you referencing...???

sorry didnt mean to be too vague..specifically the Omega Seamaster Pro GMT with the black dial, and the blk/silver bezel. I think teh refernce no. is the 2234.50.00.

I managed to get to Angus anyways, now just waiting for his reply- asked if the GMT has a 120 clicks on the rotational bezel.

It seems Angus's and (i think King has them too), has the most accurate GMTs out there- just the GMT hand and crown issues.

  13. Hi everyone!

Its my first time here and already ive learnt so much! I kindly need your help regarding a rep ive been eyeing. Im in teh market for a black GMT but dont know where is the best place to get it. Doing my little research, i know of two people that has them (that come close to the real deal).

From what ive read, Angus's GMT is apparently pretty much spot on with everything except the GMT hand. Are there any other flaws (or inaccuracies should i say:P) to his GMT? im not too sure if it matches up to the other source which is Trusty (Andrew) i.e. sapphire, engraved clasp, ETA

Can someone please help me on this? is there maybe a website or contact of Angus that i may use to communicate?

Also one last question, if i buy a rep SMP clasp from Andrew, would i be able to fit it straight on the GMT no problems?

Hope u guys can help!, i cant wait to own one of these fine reps :D

    Ian
