  1. I don't know. But I once sent a package to a person in Costa Rica. The package had, among other items, his new debit card. It never reached him. He soon received a phone call from the bank asking him if he knew his debit card was being used to buy international calling cards. Haha! The post offices in South America are screwed up.
  2. I am very angry right now. Not only did my watch get stolen, but Eurotimez now wants me to pay him another $25 for him to send me another watch. Is this a joke!? I expected better from Eurotimez.
  3. People, relax. Just because things are changing doesn't mean that they are getting worse. Overall these changes are beneficial for everyone. With high gas prices, we will see a return to locally produced goods. We will see housing developers make communities more people friendly. Waiting in traffic will become a thing of the past as work becomes more local. Natural resources will be conserved and the environment will become cleaner. Cities and nightlife will become amazing here in the US, just like Spain or France. I could go on. Mark my words, this isn't the beginning of the end, but the beginning of a brighter and cleaner future.
  4. I won't be in line. I'm keeping it old school with a 5 year old Sony Palm PDA and a basic, 4 year old Samsung cellphone. Together they aren't nearly as good as an iPhone, but I take pleasure in seeing my equipment get old and used. I cherish every scratch and every ding. When they finally die after years of loyal service, I feel sad, like a good friend of mine has passed away.
  5. I'm in California, USA. The shipping method was the standard Registered Airmail from Asia that Eurotimez offers. Do you think it was US customs that took it? There aren't any customs markings on the package.
  6. I ordered a Rolex Yachtmaster from Eurotimez and received the package today. Before opening the package, I thought to myself, "This must be a really light watch because this package doesn't weigh a thing!" Well surprise, surprise, there was nothing inside! The package had obviously been tampered with while in transit. They had cut the side of the package open with scissors and sliced through the bubble wrap with a knife. They then resealed the package with tape. This is my first time buying a rep. I'm wondering: Is stolen mail a common occurrence when buying a rep? Out of all the packages sent from Thailand or China, why did they choose to open mine? Do you think the postal workers know about Eurotimez's packages? Any insights or opinions would be greatly appreciated. client9
  7. I am actually excited about these rising gas prices. They may mark the end of an age, but they present new and exciting opportunities for those who are willing to work hard and be creative.
  8. The reason I got into reps in the first place was not because of price, but because of the terrible attitudes and snobbishness that I found on the gen forums like TimeZone and WUS. These individuals have large sums of money, but they argue over the stupidest things like children. These people are mindless zombies who have actually bought into the marketing hype of their perspective brands. Rolex enthusiasts treat their watches like gods, and they believe that all other watch brands are for the 'little people.' They then have long arguments over why Rolex is better than Omega and vice versa. It's just a nasty, condescending atmosphere. I much prefer it here where the people are relaxed, amicable, and able to appreciate all watches.
  9. As humans, we naturally look towards others for guidance and leadership. We are pack animals, and the majority of us are followers, no matter how much people profess otherwise. But the key in life is to learn to stop worrying about what others think and to stand up for what you WANT in life. It is difficult to do, but once done, you will realize that the more you stick your neck out, the less likely you will be shot down. The more you stand up for what you WANT, the more people will happily give it to you. People are always looking for others to lead, and if take the lead, they will quickly fall in line. So what you wear does not matter, it's how you wear it that does.
  10. RWI has a genuine watch section, and it hasn't caused any problems.
  11. I don't like eBay's monopoly behavior, but they do provide a valuable service at a fair price. 10% isn't all that bad when you consider that before the internet, selling anything on your own was arduous, for your only options were the pawn shop, classified ads, or consignment.
  12. Wise words. Thank you Frankt and Corgi.
  13. I am considering purchasing my first replica watch and want to know how much I could resell the replica should I not like it. I know most genuine watches depreciate quickly once used. Is this the same for replicas? Also, if I were to buy a noob factory submariner for about $120, how much could I recover by reselling it used? Thank you for your time. client9
  14. None in particular Guanaco -- I have yet to buy a rep. I was just thinking ahead.
  15. Because rules sometimes need to be broken to accomplish a task. Also, assuming the AD didn't sell the same brand of watch, I figured they wouldn't care about selling you a strap for a fake they had no relation to. Thank you, Rolexman.
  16. I would do a montage of various images that celebrate the art of horology. For example, you could have portraits of notable watchmakers, such as the inventor of the tourbillon, mixed with images of watch parts, and old-fashioned watch factories in Switzerland. I'm thinking something similar to this:
  17. I hope this message receives all of you in good health. I know it's a rule of the community to not go into an authorized dealer with a replica watch on, but is it OK to do so when buying straps for them? I ask this because I can't buy a strap without first seeing it on the watch. Any advice, tips, or tricks for handling this tricky situation is greatly appreciated. client9
  18. Some good suggestions in here. The IWC Portugaise is a classic, but I've read that the current batch of them is lousy. Is this true? I've seen two VC's recommended here. They are now on my radar. I especially like the Vacheron Constantin Malte Retrograding Perpetual Calendar that Prince suggested. Here's Pix's photo of the same watch: Wow! Keeping it classy.
  19. These are amazing looking watches. IWC keeps it classy.
  20. That's a nice looking VC, Prince. I'll definitely be looking into it.
  21. I hope all of you are having an enjoyable Friday afternoon. I am in the market for a fine looking dress watch and need some suggestions. My budget is $75 to $150. Accuracy to the genuine is not my chief concern, only the quality and beauty of how it looks in real life, for judging the quality of reps from dealer photos is impossible. Here are a few genuine watches that I like to serve as inspiration. L&S Datograph: JLC Duometre Any help would be greatly appreciated. client9
