Strange..

Since a long time now , no Polish or Polish speaking members anymore on this forum that could/would contact Jakub and eventually shed some light on this "mistery" ... very strange..

Jakub got my first rep and it vanished... And with it.. vanished my trust in this fascinating , but unreliable rep world.....

I hope that someone, sometime, will explain what has really happened in the case of this "Great Jacub Theft...".

Until then, no reps for me anymore.....I''m very dissapointed. ... Fake world, Fake people..

I simply don't trust it anymore....

I'll stick to the genuine, real stuff.. much, much more reliable....

That washer prevents the hour weel from "creeping" up against the back of the dial (and thus losing proper contact with the hour drive wheel).

Just my 2 cents:

If you want one of these replicas, pay a little more and go for one that has at least some quality movement .

Personally would go for a SOSF with a genuine ETA movement (2836). It's not a "nice" nor "special" movement, but it's very reliable and stable...

The difference in quality between the asian mvt and the swiss one .. in the long term... is HUGE !! (and worth the price difference),....... Believe me....

This one could even be a daily beater for the average consumer.... it's a "strong" watch...

Saddened (but not surprised) that there are so-called 'members' (some with very low post counts and membership time it must be said) crawling out of the woodwork to offer unsolicited opinions, make holier-than-thou judgements and take perverse interest in crucifying somebody's reputation without having any personal knowledge, experience or indeed any concrete facts in front of them. Like rubber-neckers at road traffic accidents, or vultures picking at a corpse, there are always those that enjoy a little schadenfraude. I have to say I find it distasteful and symptomatic of why I don't spend much time here anymore.

That may be so for some members, but..

Anyone who has not seen his watch(es) back since months, and has sent it (them) over to Jacub because of the positive response and the privileged section he got on this forum, can, imho , rightfully ask questions and give opinions on this same forum. Whether he or she has posted 5000 times or just once, is completely irrelevant.

It's the silence about this mistery that's just as bad for Jacub as for the whole forum and the rep world in general.....

Just to round it all up...

We're all waiting for a sign from Jacub Jablonsky here... who has given us an adress to send our watches or crystals to. We also filled out some kind of form with our home adress (to return the watch to) .

Some people (members or "friends" of members..) who have met him say that this (collecting) adress is not the place where he lives.

Another (polish) member has called his landline number and got in contact with his .. "mother" ? Member promised to call again after a few days.., no reply anymore...

Someone else says he's talked to Jacub Jablonsky and found out he has some serious problems "that would not go away for some time"... (but did'nt mention the kind of troubles..)....

Recently he replied to some members mentioning that he will send things back, but did anyone replied that things have indeed been send back ? .

If i'm not mistaken, one gen and some crystals should have been sent back ?.. , but this has not been documented any further... nothing else... Very confusing and.. indeed ... no further reply's, everyone just waiting... ("buying time" ??).

All this "mist" and "mystery".. leads me to some (hopefully wrong) "suppositions":

1) This is a super scam with one or more than one person involved. If that's the case, the watch or crystal is even of lesser interest, the worrying fact is that he (they) are in possession of all our home or business adresses. All my watches are kept in a bank safe, but that might not be the case with everyone....

2) Mr. Jablonsky is an honest guy but got caught by the law (because of receiving and sending an amount of reps) , got an interdiction to communicate with anyone involved with reps (and thus also this forum) for the time being.. and they monitor all email correspondence (that's usual police practice) and he keeps to it... (which would eventually explain why only a gen could have been sent back to its owner)

3) Mr Jablonsky really [censored]ed things up and hides just because he cannot re-imburse for the losses....

4) Mr Jablonsky got into deep depression and lost all interest...

The only thing i can hope for is that we can forget about supposition 1, but as time passes....

Any thoughts (or good/bad news ) ?

The (tri-compax) V72 is just a (bi-compax) V22 with the addition of an hour totalizer (in addition to the V22's chrono seconds & minutes totalizer subdials, the V72 is fitted with a 3rd subdial, the hour totalizer, which counts hours). Since the watch has only 2 subdials, it cannot be a V72.

But I am pretty sure the movement is a Valjoux GHT, because of the shape of the bridge & size of the 2 gears highlighted inside the red circle (if you compare these to your movement, you will see they are the same (the bridge & top gear on the V22/V72 are different))

Although both movements resemble each other, i still think it's a 22.

I could be wrong but the number of dents on the column wheel, the shape of the CS reset arm and the small bridge under the second wheel are different on both movements (seen from this side). (there's a lot more details that differ).

man, i sent him a ultimate ceramic bezel hbb black magic i . i'd venture to say one of the more expensive reps out there. he answered all my emails promptly and courteously. the watch was back in no later than 4 weeks. A+ job and service. this was mid july. if he was going scammer i think my $1k+ dollar rep (at the time) would have been gone FOR SURE. my point don't give up on your watches just yet. imagine how much work he is behind on, not including emails...think THOUSANDS of emails. it would take him literally days of straight emailing to get caught up, and right now it's probably the last thing on his mind. the death of a loved one really takes the wind out of your sails when it comes to motivation. and all the threatening emails aren't helping.

Right, and i'm not really worried (yet), but a simple reply in this thread shouldn't be too difficult , nor time-consuming, and would re-assure all is going the right way ?

My email to him has indeed not been answered yet, but i can imagine he receives way too many mails recently.

Hi Woody,

It looks like you messed up the hairspring, so only the hairspring and eventually the complete balance should be replaced (or repaired).

But if you don't have the experience and the right tools, you shouldn't try this yourself, especially if it isn't your own watch...

Any (independent) watchmaker should be able to help you. (If in doubt he is rep-friendly, take the movement out of the case, remove the hands and dial and ask for repair).

I see you live in the US, so eventually replacing the movement shouldn't be a problem.

Not "pissing" on your watch, just trying to point out the (possible) flaws for the members. I doubt it's a difficult fix though.

Here's a photo of Lewis' watch. The area that I'm referring to is surrounded with red. The gap is noticeably bigger on it. No gap on the other side though.

@Taka: Yep, the bracelet has small screws.

The lower gap is there and the bracelet endlinks on that side "wiggle" a bit. There is no gap or a "wiggle" on the upper endlink fixation. Thats sits very tight.

It comes down to this: the bracelet endlinks are screwed TROUGH the case holes. On the upper EL's the threads (the tubes that have threads in them, and are part of the endlinks, pass trough the holes in the case) on the bracelet side are a "teeny weeny" bit shorter than the ones on the lower ones.

So the upper ones have a tight fit, while the lower ones don't. (it's a matter of machinig tolerances). One can easily fix this by "filing" down those threads so the screws will "press" the EL's to the case.. Nothing to bother though, as it's hardly visible while wearing it.

Hi All,

Today i've been servicing a Seagull ST 19 mvt (as used in some handwind rep chronographs, a Chinese ex Venus 175 movement, sometimes called wrongly "L

If the hand always stops at the same place (off by a hair), then it was simply installed that way (off by a hair) & needs to be removed/reinstalled in a more accurate position -- a 10 minute job for a watchmaker. But if it resets at different points, then the hand may be loose & requires repair as indicated above.

Because the chrono on most watches (all rep watches) shares the mainspring with the clock portion of the movement, running the chrono constantly will reduce the watch's power reserver. The exact amount depends on your watch, the mainspring installed &, if it is an auto-wind movement, your lifestyle. Other than that, you are also accelerating wear on the chrono components, which should not be too much of a problem as long as the movement is serviced regularly (every 5-7 years).

On a rep watch (especially those with relocated running seconds), I would use the chrono as little as possible (if at all) unless it has been properly serviced & the watchmaker gave you the green light use it.

And if the chrono function is used on a daily basis AND the watch is worn (very) frequently, i would even recommend servicing the watch every three to four years (otherwise every 5 / 6 years is sufficient, just to clean and replace / re-grease hardened oils). Don't let it run till' "everything has grinded to a halt".

@ The Zigmeister: of course you can glue tube and hand together (if that's the only problem) . I understand that it's not easy to source parts in the rep world (sorry, i'm new here). So this may be the simplest and fastest (and thus best-) solution.

The only thing i would like to add: if glueing like that is done: make sure no glue can flow "into" the tube (for example via the top opening). And also make sure the glue on the outside of the tube isn't applied too thick or it could interfere with the free movement of the second hand tube inside the "minute wheel".

If applied too thick, there may be some friction between the two, certainly if the second hand is pushed a bit too deep onto the central second post into the hollow minute wheel.
