  1. There is really nothing you can do to stop gold plating from wearing out. I cannot tell you if any dealers full gold gmt will be a better quality however I can tell you that the full gold replicas I have bought have had very high quality plating and I have worn many of them for years without problems.

The new gmt with the ceramic bezel from josh/andrew/king/puretime, etc seems to have good quality plating. f you bought a $50 replica you will get $50 plating.

Most of the good gold watches will run you around $300 from our trusted dealers.

I can chime in and say he is right. I bought two 2-tone noobmariners from chris of eurotimez... and all the center links are in fact solid gold... not alot of gold there tho, the bezel is solid gold... and the end links are gold filled..which is so thick it would take daily wear for well over 20 years to wear off. You do get what you pay for tho. I had a 2-tone daytona I bought for like 120 bucks and this thing was garbage.. almost all the gold was wearing through at like 4 weeks. trash.

  2. I just got my new watch in yesterday from Chris (eurotimez) Watch is quite beautiful. Two tone watch, looks very classy indeed. blue sapphires at 12, 6 and 9 and diamonds on the hours in between. Quite similar to my noobmariner I also got from chris... solid gold links, (these are even thicker) and the plating on the crown looks to be thicker and better than on the noobmariner. Also, the date magnification is SPOT-ON.. ever so slightly bigger than on the noob. In any case, fantastic watch, if any more pictures are desired, let me know.

  3. Gen tubes are normally larger in diameter than the rep ones. The Euromariner will accept a gen crown without the gen tube. Also, some rep crowns are too large. Case in point the Noobmariner. The Euromariner crown is a close match but has a slightly different look to the nurled portion of the crown. Sorry no time for pics this time.

Agreed. I have a noobmariner TT which i love, and the crown has somewhat uneven plating... plus if you look at the inside edge of the crown, you can see where the plating stops. I already bought a gen crown and tube to switch out when I have the chance, and the Gen crown is slightly smaller but the gold on it is a sleeve of thick gold electro-bonded to the stainless steel, so it wont wear off for anywhere between 10-20 years if not longer.

  4. Same here... My watches get recognized often, but I barley have not heard the question if it is a gen. I guess the trick is to wear watches that fit (or at least come close to) your style, your age, your job, ect. Then no one will ask you.

Precisely. Make it believable. Unless your income is over 100K a year, you generally cant pull off wearing a watch that costs more than 10,000 by itself.

  5. Perhaps he was the victim of a scam, and actually thought it was real? :o

If he believed it was real, wouldnt Rolex have sent him a letter stating "You bought a fake. We aint fixin' it." When he sent it in to pay 1300 dollars and have the dial replaced?

Also, to really pass off your reps as gens you have to have really good fakes, and make it believable. Im in a very high income bracket, so noone questions my one rolex and one graham.

Also, another reason to own reps instead of gens.... every week SOMETHING happens to my tt submariner, wacking my wrist against a table, scraping it on a wall, hitting the rim of a drum with it, whatever. If I had put that many scratches and scuffs onto a real one... I would be on the floor hyperventilating.

  6. Yup...investing is one thing. Getting a gen Rolex will maintain value or increase in value over 50 years...depending on the demand for that particular model.

If you are captivated by the SPIRIT of the watch then a gen adds so much more value.

If you are just captivated by the design...then a rep is just dandy.

    Awesome pics as always...great lighting.

Some rolexes do hold their value and in some VERY rare cases increase in value, but 99% of the time from what I can tell a 5-10 yr old rolex gets about 50% of its original selling cost, still not a good investment at all.

Some people use that EXACT same analogy with rolls royces, how they will only increase in value etc. Right... which is why a 1985 silver spur with 50K miles now sells for around $25,000.... <_<

  7. Uhhh...she said that Seiko was the best watch on the market. I think that pretty much says it all.

This girl I was . . . having as a guest over my house. . . right . . . . . . this weekend had a seiko watch she said her ex-husband bought for her for $500 bucks as a matching set to the one that he got, as a 2 years anniversary gift. I was actually quite impressed, it was VERY heavy for such a tiny, girly thing. Had a solid gold (albeit extremely tiny) bezel and crown. There was no second hand, just a gold minute hand and hour hand. Near the bottom of the dial, it read "seiko japn. mov't" whcih leads me to believe it is a mechanical watch.

All in all, pretty dang classy....

  8. hanging your arm outside the car window ... total poseur, haha !

    j/k

i really like the Graham Overlord

mind if i ask what the lever on the left does ?

The lever on the left operates the stopwatch. The large second hand is stationary during regular use, and the chrono at 3oclock is the running seconds.

Update on that skeleton tourby: I originally was displeased when I looked at the back to see the exposed gears and none of them apparently moved. I thought "its just there to look cool, but isnt functional. What a waste."

Just yesterday night I actually took a closer look... the silver gears do move, but only when winding... they transfer to one another and wind the mainspring... the gold gears move, but they move with the minute hand... very slowly.. you have to watch for quite awhile to check its progress. So in the end, what a beautiful dress watch!

  9. maybe gen's tt gold parts appears similar stain or tarnish.

He's right. All gold can tarnish... just a light polish will clear it right off. My tt noobmariner has some heavy scratches in it, I used to lightly polish some of them out, now I dont bother. The way I see it, it makes it look more credible if some sees a scratch on the end links, centerlinks etc that go nice and deep and its solid gold all the way through.

I should post pics of this.

  10. Dear colleagues

I am interested in buying a replica Rolex Submariner

    steel and 18ct yellow gold.

There are too many sites which promise reliable 1:1 copies.

According to your opinion which is the best of them.

I would like to thank you for your answers beforehand.

Bytor's "who has the best tt sub" review thread is a gold mine for you my friend.

And FYI... I own both of the watches you see in those threads. Not just an MBK and Noobmariner, I own THE watches shown in those pics... I should be a celebrity around here for that alone.

    :D

  11. Something like that happened to me earlier this summer. A P40 was flying over my house... just doing circles... blowing some smoke too... for about 10 minutes... around and around... I guess he was happy to have an audience because we were all out in the yard waving... this is a pretty rural area and I can't imagine what else he could have been doing. Anyway, that plane was flying so slowly, all I could think about was what an easy target those guys must have been when they were actually fighting a war. So slow, so shiny, so elegant and with an engine that's a pleasure to hear. I really felt like watching that thing overhead transported me back in time. I'm sure Grahams weren't around back then- at least not in their current configuration, but wearing mine reminds me of that day.

Yeah grahams were around back in the second world war... british pilots and naval officers wore them all the time. Look it up, theres a pic of a really old 1940's graham with a huge antique lever.. god i love those things.

  12. Nice tourby!

    :)

Thanks man... I like the chronofighter just as much if not more... and you can quote me on this:

"If there was ever a watch that was solid, classy, masculine AND eccentric at the same time... surely enough it would be a Graham."

  13. The mail came today! I was happy to see that I got one from england and another from china.

The first from china is the skeleton flying tourby, modelled as a breguet. Overall not too bad, I did overpay. It feels light and im not too fond of the leather strap but hopefully it'll get supple with time. I would venture homer's tourby is better and costs half as much. <_<

From precioustimes in England I get a graham chronofighter! This thing is incredible. Solid and flawless. I can imagine the conversations i'll start with this thing in the future. I already got a double take from the one person who saw me wearing it hanging my arm out the car window.

The running seconds at 3 are cool, and if you time it right, you can set the stopwatch to go at the pace with it... which adds some cool movement.

  14. I want a new car. Well, its not going to be new, sinces prices in denmark are silly high (180% tax on cars)

Im considering a 95-97 audi a8, with allweel drive, and the v8 engine.

The aluminum body appeals to me, since the roads are salted in the winter here. Would be great with out the rust issue:-)

Does anybody here have any experience with such a car? Im just curius if its reliable and wont have as many issues as my bmw 735 has.

I know its an old car, but some a worse than others. :)

If your buying the rep A8, make sure you check the grill to ensure it has 4 rings... the old repped audis only have 3 and its a dead giveaway.

I have a rep lexus SC400 and the "L" is backwards!

  15. If you check an inflation calculator, these have pretty much stayed in line with overall inflation.... slightly overpriced, but that can be attributed to the advancement in technology and some other factors. I believe the new watches are in fact better than they were made years ago.
