  1. Guys,

please reply or PM with link to tutorial how to do the fix on flimsy lever.

    Thanks in advance.

Can't find the link for the tutorial but I can try to expalin it below:

remove CG pin, remove lever, squeeze hot glue in lever hole and scrape off excess.

place lever back in CG. remove glue from gun but leave plugged in. heat up pin with gun tip and push pin back through CG pin hole. the gun will slowly heat up the pin which will melt through the glue until it is in again. then make sure it is flush and let it cool.

    should do the trick.

I hope that isnt too confusing but its way easier than it sounds. I do it all the time to the watches I make for friends.

  2. Actually, watching the process and seeing how many hours and the skills through pictures sent as the cases were built makes me appreciate the piece more. I have many more pics but picked a couple of random ones from along the way. It is amazing to watch a piece start as a block of steel and then to see all the hand machining, lathing and final file work. Even the forming of the plexi is very cool. It is such a diferent world from the current world of CNC where someone draws an accurate CAD and a computer executes it.

Let me rephrase my statement. that level of craftmanship makes it look easy. I can certainly respect the time and effort put into a project like this. And I can understand the price as well. I have a mechanical/industrial engineering background so I've spent time on a lathe before. I'd really like to find a friend who has a shop in his back yard and try my hands at something like this myself. Either way, thank you for sharing and I'm anxiously awaiting an update on those dials. Congrats for your patience and drive to take on a project like this.

  3. All my friends know I'm into watches. A while back I made a homage for myself and my friends began commenting so I've begun making some to sell to them. I'm using standard rep cases and altering the dials with some matte finishes depending on the model. I'm using glo-inc for lume and its turning out great. Here are a few i finished this weekend. I still suck at getting the lighting right in my apartment so forgive the pics.

Thanks for viewing. I'd be happy to answer questions. Thanks to all the folks posting means and methods in the forums, I couldn't do it without your help.

  4. I can't speak for daytonas but I can speak for wholesaleoutlet and say that his products are high quality and recommended. I've bought his buckles, hands, and a few other misc parts and all of them are very satisfactory. They lend themselves well for modification too if you are interested in getting them relumed or vintagetizing them yourself.

Steve McQueen Rolex Explorer II 1655

We all know that Tag Heuer makes a Steve McQueen version of their Monaco sport watch. It's a great looking watch, and McQueen wore the original version during the filming of the 1971 movie "Le Mans". That's all well and good but the real Steve McQueen, the man, not the man he played in the movies, wore a Rolex.

He wore a Rolex Explorer II model 1655 with an orange 24hour hand, to be exact. That particular model is now known as the "Steve McQueen Rolex" and they are extremely collectible and extremely rare. And it is for those reasons that we are featuring one for sale here on Hodinkee.com today. This one is 40mm, has a fixed bezel, and was extensively recondition in 2004 and now has a new box and Rolex documentation.

This watch is a dream watch for just about every member of the Hodinkee team, and if any of you out there have the means to buy this, we highly recommend you do so immediately. This watch will only increase in value as time goes on. Click here for the details."

Can't say I know much about the subs though. Probably just enjoyed watches
