I've done well by purchasing all the watches I like then stop going into the forums
-
Mine just arrived from King at: www.kingwatches.net.
A beautful watch indeed. Quite large too.
From China to my hand in the US in 5 days.
I asked her about the problematic movement. She said it shouldn't have any problems.
We'll see...
In the meantime, since it is only the 1st day, it's working just fine...
Let's see how long it lasts

mmm! if you had heard my ex watchsmith you would believe chinese 7750's are the work of the devil. Not sure if they can be called clones of the swiss eta. he said the quality was nowhere near what the gen 7750 is. he said "very cheap copy, rough, inferior parts, nasty to work with, not worth servicing or fixing cause they are only 30 or 40 quid if you know where to find them" he charges 20 quid an hour for his work. said there is no point in wasting my money servicing or fixing them. as a result I thought i would ask josh if he could sell me a couple of movements in case i need them. sadly they are "strictly not for sale"
tried searching but couldn't find what movement is used in the 6.75 or if i can buy them anywhere.
Peter at IwatchStation sells the Asian 7750 movement. Email him.

That's really odd about the noise. My PT/WM9 ran really quiet.
-
His website seems to be down though
Angus is a good guy.I have had a couple of watched of him now and have been very pleased with both the service and the product.

I'd also like to know if there's anyone who will work on reps in the metro LA area too. Please PM me if you have the info. -

I bought a nearly new DSN 217 (Swiss); the previous owner said it had a low power reserve and didn't feel like sending it back. The watch will only run for a few minutes before stopping--it usually starts right back up when I pull out the crown.Does anyone know a a place in SD, LA or OC where I can get it fixed without too much hassle?
-
Ahh...now I understand. Thank you for shedding light on this one.
well you're right.Peter, Angus and Jackie are connected in business, as Josh and Andrew are.
A bit of history: Jackie and Peter are known to us as they participated in TRC as dealers. So they're no strangers. They're here for a reason.

There's a new dealer in this forum by the name of "Jacky Chen" or "Jackie Chen". He shares the same section with "Watch Station".
Has anyone in this forum dealt or purchased with Jacky/Jackie before? The Trade Review section for Jacky/Jackie is still blank.
Now, there are a couple of things that came to my mind:
1. For those who purchased from Angus at Pure Time would notice that Angus' Paypal account name is also: Jacky Chen
2. Watchstation who shares the same section with Jacky Chen in this forum, is supposedly Angus' partner.
So:
1. Could Jacky and Angus be the same person? Or
2. Could Jacky and Angus be working together?
Some members in this forum brought up the point that Angus really has not been replying his email and according to one member who supposedly received an email from Angus explained that Angus has been facing some personal problem and most of the business is being taken care of by his partner, Peter, at Watch Station.

First of all, don't take reps to any authorized dealers of any kind. Open the yellow pages and check for your "local" watchsmiths. Call him and tell him you have a regular automatic watch that needs servicing.
You don't have to tell him the brand of the watch. Just ask if he could do the job for you. Only tell him it's a rep if he insists on first knowing the brand of the watch prior to you coming over to his shop. This is so both of you don't waste each other's time in case he just doesn't work on reps.
When he says "yes", then take the watch to his store and when you give him the watch, casually tell him it's a replica with automatic movement.
With the economy being so bad, your local watchsmiths will take the job. If you have a good rep, you'll get compliments from him and then he becomes your best friend.
10 out 10 this approach has worked well for me.
Good luck.

It looks soooo good and while I'm not willing to shell out the money for the gen during these tight times, so a good rep will have to do for a while
I owned (but recently sold) the so called "perfect version" from Trusty. It has an ETA 2836-2 movement and a change of dial from Angus, the watch looked really good...I'm aware of past discussions on rehaut issues in those "perfect" versions, but gen yachties also looks more conical with a different looking rehaut than a sub. I've been to the local AD and tried on the gen so many times. I don't know about the noob but I'd have to say, mine looked darn good...
I have said ad nauseum that all these watches are incorrect. Don't know understand why everyone creams over them so much. -
Wonder whatever happened to this YM version from Puretime? Is the current Yachtmaster offered by Angus this version?
Just got the case and dial from a factory, saying this is a 1:1 Yacht-Master case, which will accept genuine movement, as I dont have a 3135 movement on hand and I did not try but for sure this dial does not fit an ETA movement (the date window is to the left of the ETA datewheel). The factory also says they use 904L steel for this case and the bezel is platinum plated, as I dont know how to test so I just skip them.
Hope By-Tor and BK and other experts will comment on this. 200+ mails are waiting for me, I let the pictires talk.

Close up side view, pay attention to the crown position, crown guard, bezel teeth and crystal height, noob on top

Dial, noob on top, please neglect the missing lume on the noob dial and missing paint on the new dial, seems the noob printing is better? Dont know...
Side view, noob case is slightly thicker, noob on left

Lug view, noob on bottom, no engraving for the new case (the factory says because they are not allowed to make replica so they cannot do the engraving)

Sorry for the simple and unprofessional review, enjoy :-)

Sorry, who is Sean? Is he a dealer?
Sean is now showing a series of pics for the Yachtmaster as well as the Sub case discussed previously this week.http://www.etaswiss.net/gallery/details.ph...52ed0eb14f9d6f2

Yes..although I don't own a noob, I did however notice this issue. The noobmariner is also too small.
Angus at Puretime Watches had a thread here last December where he received new cases based on a 1 to 1 replication from a gen. I don't know if the Yachtie he's offering is actually based on the one he showed at the time, but his updated Rolesium dials are sure nice. Very silver and sparkly. I ordered it and replaced the dial on mine and it made a world of difference.
His Yachtie is $178 and add $50 for an ETA version.
Has anybody noticed that the noob yachtmaster is too small? The bezel diameter is only 39 mm when it should be 40. This difference is very noticeable, especially with the convex curve of the left side of the case, which on the noob sticks way out beyond the bezel (it is not supposed to). I spent A LOT of time with some gens today, and was surprised at the difference. The other thing is that the noob dial does not have any grainyness to generate a sparkle under the right lighting.I keep seeing recommendations for the noob yachtie as the best version, but it has these major flaws. I know WM9 is coming out with an expensive version, but has anyone considered combining two yachties to get the best of the dials, bracelets and case?
-
Yes, I have been watching the WM9 website. You are a very patient man indeed. We're very anxious to see the result. For a project that's taken this long, it better be good.
WM9 have a YM out very soon now, mine's been on order since January. -
It's been well documented that the Noob Yachtmaster is the most accurate to gen.
But it seems dealers have different versions of Noob Yachtmaster.
To cite an example, from what can be seen online, Trusty's and PC's noob have different case numbers
Other dealers like Euro also offer noob versions.
So, which Noob Yachtmaster is the one that has been often discussed and reviewed?
Thank you
-
No. I actually received my orders one week from the day he returned from his holiday and he answered all my emails.
Since he came back from holidays I'm trying to put an order together but he doesn't reply to my emails. Maybe he is in trouble? -
Tried to log into Pure Time's website just now but got this message instead:
"This Account Has Been Suspended. Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible"
-
I hope you receive it soon. Kindly post some pics and show us how it looks like. Thank you.
Getting antsy waiting for mine! Hopefully soon... -
Thanks By-Tor. You are RIGHT.
Markers, pearl and all that... it's easy to fix with a genuine insert. But I encourage you to compare it to MANY Sub models from different decades. What I've learned about Rolex that there's only one thing that's consistent: inconsistency. LOTS of variation between things like bezel font, thickness and even dials. One day I was looking at the "Rolex forum", and those guys who "call out" fakes there. What a bunch of amateurs... they have absolutely no clue about anything. They "called out" two perfectly legitimate 16800 models on Ebay during one day, thinking that bezel font and thickness is the definite way to determine between a fake and gen.
The biggest issue with Rolex replicas is always the "fundamental overall look" of the watch. That means the crystal/case combination that you simply can't fix. That's all I really care about, rest is "fixable" if it bothers you. There's lots and lots of variation in stuff like dials and bezel font, even among the 16610. But the case and crystal/rehaut combo is always the same. It's immediately identifiable for someone who has really studied the gens... and that's where the WM9 shines.

It looks like PT sent out a number of watches upon his return on Sep 30th. I got mine yesterday also
As far as modding, I already got the WM pearl and JewelryOutlet insert ahead of time. I was going to change it yesterday but I held off once I noticed the JewelryOutlet insert has those thinner markers as I stated in this thread. The insert from PT has the thicker markers.
Photos from the Bay doesn't help. Some "M" series has thin markers. Some has thick ones......It's quite confusing...
BTW - did I mention that......MY ULTIMATE SUB FROM PT JUST GOT DELIVERED
Sized up the bracelet and slapped it on. Already thinking of mods - maybe gen crown & tube, CGs, WM Pearl. Im not too worried about the dial not being 100% the same as the noob dial, but good enough. Unless the etching gets to me, I'll grab a Clarks crystal.
Happy Happy Joy Joy
-
Yes, my point exactly. The new "M" series subs seem to have thicker markers on the insert compared to the previous versions. In that case, the version from PT (WM9) is correct as it, indeed, has the thicker markers.
Hmmm not too sure about the markers, but here's a pic of a gen sub that has thicker markers on the inserthttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...-Submariner.jpg
-
I received my supreme sub from PT just yesterday
Being somewhat of a noob (compared to many of the veterans in this forum), the one thing that strikes me was how "wide" were the strip markers (5, 15, 25 and so forth) on the bezel insert compared to other bezel inserts on other reps. I placed a watchmaterial bezel insert right next to the Supreme Ed sub to compare and the width difference is quite apparent.
So I went on the Bay to compare photos of the gen version. From the photos, it seems the strip markers on the "M" model are in fact wider than the previous models.
Is this true or are my eyes just playing tricks on me?
Thanks.

The word "RESERVE" is still misspelled.
