  1. I wonder why case ceramics are so much more difficult or expensive versus the bezel?

In any case it reinforces my satisfaction with the Mellow Yellow. I will be revealing mine with a nice surprise in a couple of weeks when I am back in country and can snap a few pics. ;)

it is my understanding that the tooling and manufacturing of ceramic parts is quite complicated/expensive - Angus told me that the makers would not do it since the case also consists of several parts, unlike let's say the Chanel

I agree on the Mellow Yellow - here is mine :-)

  2. don't get too excited the case on the Ice Bang and the Black Magic is made out of PVD coated SS rather than ceramics like the real one - you can easily tell the difference when you touch it and it also looks quite different - the best versions are still the regular SS HBB, the SS HBB with ceramics bezel and the Mellow Yellow

Having had a good look over the pictures I'm fairly sure the new black case parts are actually made from steel with a glossy PVD type treatment, and not real ceramic like the bezel is. Check out the clasp, it would clearly be made from steel and not ceramic but has the same type of finish.

Am I imagining this? What does everyone else think?

if I am not mistaken I already confirmed this :bicycle::whistling: - I know for a fact from one of our dealers ;)

  3. So the black Magic is here. Nice.

They even repped the smooth strap:

But I do not know which model is that. Did they want it to look like Ice Bang with that SS bezel?

Maciek - this is supposed to be the Ice Bang - but the Tantalum bezel on the gen is darker than the SS used on the rep

  5. thanks all for your compliments :winkiss:

    Whoaaaahhhhhhh

Benchmark in modding work and benchmark in photography..........very very impressive all round :thumbsupsmileyanim:

LovePanerai ....love to know how you get your pics sooooo superb......dealers should pay you to photo for them!!!

Can't wait for the postman this week.....The Zigmeister package no.1 on it's way!!!

a lot of it is the equipment - I use a Canon 20D with a Canon EF-s 60mm Macro lens - put it on a tripod and use a lightbox (you could actually use a white plastic trashbin and some cheapo lights :-)

They llook very good! What base did you use for the 111? Is it a Swiss/Asian?

    Swiss 6497

  6. Thanks everyone!

Regarding the IWC: it's really pretty sad how naive I am, but I didn't really know anything about the rep when I bought it... AR coating? Yea -- no clue.. No clue on how much the watch was worth but I remember thinking it was one of the best looking watches I've ever seen... Had to have it... And this is how my collection began :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Welcome Matt - I am sure you are going to love the IWC - when I started about 3 years ago I thought I am going to have about 5-10 replicas, over the years I ended up with 30+ at the high point and I started to consolidate my collection a couple of months ago. be careful, since this is really a highly addictive hobby :bangin:

    cheers M8

  7. The winning baseball pitcher for the Seattle Mariners on Sunday was a young guy named Ryan Feierabend. His first major league victory. We were grateful that he didn't decide to quit working before the game was over.

(If you don't get it, pull out a German dictionary.)

RFLMAO - ausgezeichnet hab' mich kaputt gelacht :victory:

  8. Someone metioned that even if you go for the Asian, you can upgrade it with Swiss ETA later on. I guess it's a good thing.

you can't really just swap the movement from Asian to Swiss since the hand post sizes are different - The Zigmeister posted this a while back. It has been my experience that a properly serviced Asian movement is as good as their Swiss counterparts and in some cases the Swiss movements also need servicing/have issues out of the box. Remember they are being assembled in the same environment the Asian ones are, meaning no QC

  9. on the PAM196 you should go with the Swiss 7753 - not just because of reliability but mostly because the date has the correct distance to the dial - not like the recessed date you get with the Asian 7750.

    here is mine:

  10. To honor the original post title here is what I know to come out within the next couple of months:

Panerai Northpole GMT PAM252 and Big Bang Black Magic

if the post would read: "what do you want to come out as the next super rep" ;) my response would be:

IWC Aquatimer Chrono SS and TI with both rubber and bracelet

IWC Spitfire Chrono (42mm silver dial)

  11. I obviously asked the bad way :)

I have a Tag SLR with an inside rotating bezel (as the IWC actually has - see my signature)

The problem is that when you set it at a certain position (with the pusher at 9), any small touch to the same pusher will immediately end in the bezel moving.

So my question could be : how hard/loose does the bezel rotate and stay in place ?

Lovepanerai, can you answer that for me ?

    now I get it :thumbsupsmileyanim:

it actually requires some effort to turn the crown at 4 o'clock and than it clicks for every minute you rotate the bezel, so accidentally moving it is something that is very unlikely
