  1. My T48 crowns arrived yesterday, and here are a few (blurry) shots of them installed. The first is a T48 Ti crown - this was a straight-swap, with a longer stem required - the crown looks perfect and installed without any hassle. ...In a Pre--V style case with V CG - a perfect fit with no modifications necessary. ...And a side-by-side with a C-series OEM 48-tooth crown. The gen is on the left, the T-crown on the right. The dimensions are almost identical - the tube is thinner to fit the standard rep tubes. The crowns look slightly different through a macro lens - but bear in mind that the C-series crown may be different to a newer one, and the quality of T's crown is as good, if not better than an OEM. I know the photos aren't great, but I can't stress how good the new crowns are - and excellent value for money. Thanks, T - your efforts for the community are appreciated!
  2. The 4-liner pictured is a redial with 'Officine Panerai' added at a later date, along with a new second hand. The Club Panerai forums have it for sale at the moment, with a little history included - so whilst it is rare, it is not original.
  3. I've never seen any other photos with the alarm movement - I'd be interested to find the discussion, the only responses I could find were from Piero Lapiana confirming the authenticity of the watch pictured. As for Angelus base dials, this is the only other one I have a photo of: ...which was sold by Antiquorum in 2004, I believe. I've not got any other information - and can only guess from the typical 'tells' that it has an Angelus motor. I would question the authenticity of the previous one pictured, as it clearly comes from eBay - the Antiquorum one would be more likely to have a good history, but they have been known to heavily modify auction images - so there are no guarantees that it is an Angelus base dial! Hope this helps.
  4. Have you got any photos? I've only seen one Angelus 6152 with an alarm movement - that was posted on Piero's site, which VDB has quoted above. From what I've seen, non-alarm movements were more common amongst clocks from the 1930's - after this point, they seemed to move over to alarm-based movements, or non-alarm key-wound movements (as seen in ship wheel clocks etc.). Where did you get the hands from, VDB? They look great - I've just found a minute hand in this style, but unfortunately don't have the hour hand to match (no idea where it came from, or why there's only one!).
  5. I've just noticed this Graham Chronofighter Commander on Ioffer. Why go to the hassle of making a carbon fibre dial, only to stick it in the standard oversize case (rather than the divers case which is also available), in SS rather than Ti, and without a carbon bezel? Just to add the final insult, they write 'Commando' on the dial rather than 'Commander'. Out of principal, I couldn't wear that - imagine all of the 'going Commando' jokes you'd get in the office!
  6. Thanks for the picture - that's really useful!
  7. I'm afraid not - but thanks for the interest!
  8. Has anybody got a good flat-bed scan of an accurate Fiddy-style dial? I'm working on a project - I'm not fussed about the dial text, but a good scan of an accurate dial to see the true shape of the indices will really help me out!
  9. I think you'd be better commisioning your own hands - it'd be easier! I've got a couple of spare sets of blued vintage Angelus hands (flat, not curved), but they're not quite the same as pictured.
  10. Simon, they look aweful. If you want them out of your site, you know my address Seriously, that is a stunning collection - wish I'd stocked up on Jimmy cases when they were available. There's a serious amount of work that has gone into those; the 009 is stunning!
  11. I remember the days when I'd pass on a $250 movement because it had gone too high - I can't believe how the prices change! Great looking piece, it's staggering how Stephan can manage all of these projects!
  12. How many attempts am I allowed? Is another 3,499 ok?
  13. I wonder how many people are frantically searching through your Photobucket album right now?! I'll start the guessing at E2385/3500.
  14. Amazing job. Do you mind me asking where you had the movement ring manufactured? I'm trying to get a couple made up for a different project, and am having a nightmare finding people to work on such small tasks!
  15. I think I may have one or two, send me a PM and I'll either send you one or let you know where to get them!
  16. Now you're just showing off! That looks amazing, but I'm looking for the rustic charm of a vintage watch this time round. Maybe when I can afford it, one of the other movements could end up like this?!
  17. Dadog13 has just given me a great idea and some contacts for CDG finishing
  18. I've got the non-alarm plate, what I need is the smaller Angelus engraved plate with 3 jewels on it! Frustratingly, I sold a key-winder with the correct decoration a few months ago for virtually nothing ($50 - there's eBay for you!). This is almost exactly what I'm after: ...these come decorated with wide CDG on the cheaper key-wound clocks (which people use as spares as they can't be installed into watches) - so hopefully we could arrange a trade for a movement like the following one pictured, or I could supply any part you need for your vintage project (including a dial made to your specifications - see example Angelus dial images attached). Somebody? Anybody?! Thanks for the replies so far.
  19. Thanks for the reply - email sent. But, still looking
  20. This is a long shot... I know most people with Angelus projects have spare (key wound) movements for parts. What I'm looking for is a replacement bridge (the one that usually has Angelus engraving on it), with wide CDG decoration. If anybody would be interested in a trade - either direct trades of bridges, complete key-wound movements (I've got a couple to choose from, including one NOS perfect for parts), or for other hard to source parts for these movements - hands, gears, you name it. Or, I could make you a custom-engraved dial for a vintage project to your design! Any help would be appreciated - the bridge decoration looks similar to this (old photo, not the movement in question!)
  21. The case looks good, and the screws are a perfect fit. What's the top case in that image? The lugs look nice and square - can't see the bezel though!
  22. It's a good observation - but as has been said before, it'd be pointless making Pre-V screws with 1.8mm screws, as they wouldn't be true to the original and wouldn't fit the real 5218's. As the 44mm cases that are widely available to the community are completely wrong anyway, the next step should be to look to reproduce a 1:1 case that accepts these 1:1 screws. A lot of effort and investment has gone in to making the Pre-V screws, so I wouldn't like to see them dismissed based on the fact they aren't a perfect fit for an inaccurate case.
  23. Glad to see the screws going to good use
  24. Does anybody with a technical mind know exactly what screws are required? I've been having a look at off-the-shelf options, and a 2-56 UNF Fillister screw should do the job - but they come in imperial dimensions, so 3/16" is the closest (4.8mm, which can be cut / filed down). The only problem is specifying the correct head diameter - I think the closest off-the-shelf option is .124" (3.1mm). Has anybody got any ideas, as it should be possible to order 100's for $50 if it is possible to get the specification correct. Sorry to stray off-topic, Rolli
  25. Very resourceful! Thanks for the tip - sounds like a job that a skilled hobbyist could do, I might have to give it a go!
