Sander - i love these builds. Congrats.

That CG lever is still poop. I see that thing catching on my clothes and ripping something! Also, the datewindow cutout looks a little unfinished - hope that gets cleared up. I am hopeful on these, it has such huge promise.
-
Agree. I continue to await for the silver borders. I wish they would fix that
-
I will try and throw a pic of my 063 up in the next couple of days. Agree - the WHP watches were great. I still hope to upgrade my 063 someday to a dial without low bar A's. It is the only PAM I have that does not have either a new era rep dial or a gen dial. Someone revive the 063 and make a correct dial!!!
-
That is beautiful. I have a 104 that really looks good now - gen dial, gen crown, cannnon pin mod, etc. But the ultimate crystal, even with the blue ar stripped just does not look gen enough due to the cyclops. I got to get a gen crystal.... damn yhat is going to be tough.

Sorry guys, wanted to clarify my statement. The new A7753 watches can have their movements swapped with an E7753 movement - many have done this already (my good friend in Canada has done this for me for one of mine). However, you have to have a dial that fits the E7753 movement since the datewindow position for the A7753 was not put in the same spot as is needed on the E7753. The only way to get a Daylight dial that has the E7753 position is to get one from DSN. His dials for the E7753 are ok - but not as good as the new Daylights dials. Specifically the PANERAI lettering on the dial is not as accurate.
-
That would he very interesting news. Since the dial from the current A7753 does not work with the e7753. Are they making different dials especially for e7753 models?

As another thought to this thread. The new reps are aldo going to make great parts fodder for contnuing to upgrade some of our frankens. For instance, the new daylight cases are really superior for a 7753 transplant. The problem is you need a gen or dsn dial
-
S#!T -- that is pretty well done! Now, if only they could fix that second hand...

No such thing outside of a modder. The Zigmeister speciality.

Looks like it is still a waiting game...

I would be interested in a fully completed watch too!
-
First - these dials are beautiful.
Second - can you tell me which dial goes with with watch? I obviously note the differences between these two "2's" - but what goes to what. Does the one on the right go to the Angelus movements or something?
The MM variants:
-
yeah - that is a toro - you can tell by the slighly smaller pin diameter. Looks great.
-
Yes - that is a pretty big gap. But, they are all like that. Read through the posts - the fix is to take the CG off and "pinch" it super-carefully in a vice, one tiny bit at a time. By doing this - others have been able to make it flush. They also mention that it only bends the top part (where the lever is - since that is where the metal is the weakest - so the "pinching" is lopsided - but nearly impossible to tell.
Or - you just accept it and leave it alone. The problem with this hobby, is that once you see it - it is all you see.
-
Sander - interested in your work. PM me when you get a chance.

It takes me about 2 hours to get it looking like this..
Sandpaper, dremel, needle file, scotch brand scrubbing pad, painters tape, bracelet pin remover, blue loctite, screwdriver.
Although it was a better looking CG to begin with, it made a big difference to me. Very much worth the time/effort/cost.
good before and after here...
Damn - that looks great. You should provide this as a service.
-
Well, "worth the money" is subjective to the buyer - since it costs as much as the watch itself.
Visually, you can not readily tell the differences.
Feel wise - no comparison. Smooth finished surfaces, clicks correctly, etc.
Operation wise - perfect. No worries at all about the clasp not holding.
So, worth it to me - since I love the look of this watch. Not everyone is a fan of this style though.
-
I agree with W0lf. The reason that alot of us are in this hobby is exactly to fix the flaws of the reps to see if we indeed can make them close to gens. It is great to get reps that are already "ultimates". But, then - the fun is over rather quickly. It is more fun to incrementally change a thing here or there.
Just as long as it does not put you in the po-house.
-
Does anyone know if the old case CG will fit on this new case Daylight?
-
Very nice watch! I really love this style of Hands on the GMT PAMs, what i find disturbing though, is the grey seconds subdial on this model. For me a complete downer.
It would look so much better without it:
Is that basically the same model? You think there is a rep of something similar out there?
There are two - but none like the 237.
There is a fantasy 237 but with Anthracite dial (basically a 89 with ss case)
and the 297

V2 was not good. The real gem is a V1 made for gen ETA7753 :-)
From what I understand - those are pretty rare...
