  1. Out of interest, how often would you usually expect to wind yours fully?
  2. I'll try that and let you know how I get on, thanks Shundi.
  3. OK, now the second hands stops after about 10 seconds and wont move again untill I move my arm...then stops again after another 10 or so seconds. I have a bad feeling about this...
  4. I received my Carrera last week and it looks great, especially now that I've finally had the strap made smaller. The only thing is, I've noticed that it can be a little temperamental at keeping the time. For example, during the first few days it kept the time really well but completely stopped at night time. Now it seems to only keep the time for about an hour - even with lots of arm movement. Is there something I am doing wrong? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Alan
  5. thanks guys, finally got the strap sorted and it looks great! Alan
  6. Hi everyone, Thank you for taking the time to provide so much useful information and advice. Boy did I laugh when I read all your messages about my crown concerns! OK....OK.....yes...I am a total plonker! I'll try scratching off the blue coating later today. Sometimes I just cant believe how wonderful you all are. Your messages have made me believe in buying reps again! Based on toadtorrents reply I may just send the watch for a proper service and pay the fee as I'm not confident at doing the necessary work myself. All I need to do now is find somewhere that will do work on reps. Any recommendations would be helpful. I live in south east London but anywhere in the south of England would be ideal? Now you wont believe this but I had a nightmare yesterday trying to get the strap made smaller. I noticed several guys on RMG recommended the Timpsens franchises for this as they don't mind working on reps and do it while you wait. With this in mind I took the watch to my local branch. After a few minutes the guy handed the watch back to me saying, eh...I cant get the strap pins out because they are 'really, really' stiff. He then showed me the standard tool he used and said trying to get them out had snapped the tool...it was now on two pieces! He recommended taking it to another branch so I'll do that later today. Wish me luck! By the way, happy Halloween. Alan
  7. Hi guys, Just received my new Carrera from Eurotimez. This was my first rep purchase and could not fault the Eurotimez service as everything went very smoothly and the watch only took a couple of weeks to arrive. I ordered the Carrera based on the number of good reviews here and the fact that it seemed to be one of the most accurate reps available. I agree it is very good indeed. However, I have noticed a couple of things 1) The mechanism is 'very' noisy and suffers from a great deal of noticeable vibration which I'm sure wouldn't be the case if you had the genuine watch. 2) The Blue coating on the crown end has been applied very poorly indeed. This means the crown looks deformed or ellipse shaped. I would have thought this would have been noticed on Eurotimez respected quality control checks? Naively I expected the watch would look and certainly 'feel' just like the original (but naturally without the expensive precision movement / mechanism found in the original) but I feel let down in this department. However, all in all I cant really complain as it is just a rep! Anyway, it has made me think twice about buying another rep in the future. I'd be interested to hear your comments? Regards, Alan
  8. Thanks, I'll have a go at doing it myself first and if I get any problems I'll take it into Timpsons near me.
  9. Thanks Andrew!
  10. Thanks Rikske Seems easy enough!
  11. I've read Andrews great review of the Navitimers and the differences between the original models and the reps. I'm really interested to know why the rep manufacturers cant turn the numbers on their side to match the original? Is it really that difficult to do? Especially as this is probably the most obvious thing someone would spot at a quick glance. Your comments would be appreciated. Alan
  12. Thanks everyone, You've all been really helpful! Think I'll order my Navitimer through Eurotimez because they have had some great reviews and they seem to be the only retailer that has a really stringent quality control policy which seems highly regarded by RWC members. When I receive the watch I'll need to have a few links removed from the SS bracelet so it will fit my wrist. Can I take the watch into any UK watch jewellers to have this done or are they likely to notify the manufacturer? I'm not sure of the legalities surrounding this? Alternatively, how easy is it to do this myself? I cant find any mention of this on the forum. Alan
  13. Thanks everyone, I've had a reply back from Narikaa but unfortunately he doesn't stock Navitimers so I've contacted precioustime and Eurotimez to find out prices / further info etc. Unlike some of the overseas suppliers I've noticed that neither of these sites has any detailed information on their watches other than the photos. Ive seen a site called perfect clones mentioned here. Does anyone know if they are reputable and where they are based? Would you buy from them? Look forward to hearing your advice, Alan
  14. Hi, Ive just joined this site and think its fantastic. So much great information from people who really know and love watches! Can anyone please recommend a good place to buy some rep watches from a UK seller on-line? Im particularly interested in a TT Navitimer Black Num Dial Working Chrono but want to avoid the pitfalls of buying overseas (unless you can recommend a good reputable oversea seller)? Thanks, Alan
