Contact The Zigmeister, he's a trusted member here and he repairs reps.

The basic difference between the two is QUALITY.
1. The Asian is a copy of the Swiss and its tolerances will not be as accurate.
2. The Asian version uses metals with soft alloys. In other words the stem shafts may bend, the gears may warp easily, etc.
3. The Ashian models come without any lubricants and need to be serviced before you can even use them.
There are reports of people getting versions that work for a few years, but because the quality varies so much it is a hit or miss thing. If you have the chance just get a rep with the Swiss movement. They're well worth the money difference.

Not sure about battery operated, but there are some bidirectional ones in ebay that are cheap. I got one and it's very quiet, but it doesn't run on batteries. Just check the descriptions and see if they have any that are battery operated.
Here's one store selling a variety of winders: http://stores.ebay.com/GADGET-BESTBUY
Good luck!

The one on the left has the correct size and type dots.

Rob's the best! He devotes an incredible amount of time answering our dumb questions as well as teaching about the inter workings of watches. I now know where I can send my 1930's Lord Elgin when it needs servicing.

Wore mine in one time and was looking at the real things under a case and the sales rep noticed it and gave me a compliment. No need to hand it over for inspection.

REP! Or ROLEX made some mods...
GEN
The round markers are broader and flatter on the rep too. On my rep they are exactly like the gen.

Well, I reset the main forum index lilke the other user and bookmarked that page. Works fine now.

Go into preferences on your hard drive, go to the Safari folder and open it and then select the folder called "icons" and trash it. This folder keeps images to load on sites you frequent often to make browsing faster but it tends to get overloaded and cause hanging. Just clearing the cache won't empty it.

Maybe he collected reps too

I've had bad luck with the Asian movements. They don't keep good time and eventually the spring breaks. I bought my wife a beautiful Rolex rep with a Swiss movement and it works as well as the real thing.

No need for such a list anyway. You'll never find anybody more trustworthy or better skilled than our own The Zigmeister.
