  5. Thanks Peepshow. Succint and to the point. Jon
  6. Hi, Please indulge my newbie question. I have searched, and maybe I missed the posts. I am interested in a simple titanium (or maybe brushed steel) manual PAM. These models interest me, and I am asking what the differences are? 036, 118, and 177 The next question is about Asian v Swiss Unitas movements in these pieces? There is a big price difference, and so I assume a big quality/reliability difference too? Final question: in simple terms, what is this "swan neck regulator"? Once again, I see a huge prices difference. Thanks, Jon
  7. Hi Dave, I am an animal lover, and have felt the loss of each my "babies" very deeply. Our cats are like children to us, they have the run of the house, sleep with this, including under the duvet when it is cold, and so on. Each loss is a bereavement, and whilst time may diminish the deep anguish, there will still be moments of anguish and pain. Those who have no animals cannot understand these sentiments, and I believe that I can truly empathise with you. I offer you these words: "We do our best homage to our dead when we live our lives most fully, even in the shadow of our loss". May you find some small comfort from one who understands your grief. Jon
  8. Thanks for the welcome. I have a feeling that this new hobby will grow...and grow...and...!
  9. Hi Erwinner, Thanks for your comprehensive answer. You have given me plenty to think about. I am pretty certain that I will take the plunge soon. Jon
  10. Hi, I switched to Mac a couple of years ago. It was a good move. My first Mac is this first gen MacBook upon which I am typing this. The hardware is great and OS X (Leopard) was wonderful to use. As other posters have pointed out, this is not a gaming unit. The reason is that it has shared graphics rather than a dedicated card. This puts strain on the system. Re: Windows - out of curiosity I have tried Parallels and VM Fusion. I found the latter to run faster and smoother. The best solution for me was to ditch Windows. That was easier than giving up smoking! I now have an iMac which I love. Buying advice: Apple are due an imminent MacBook update, so if you can hold off, and can buy new, then wait a few weeks. There is a great site full of excellent buying advice called MacRumors. www.macrumors.com Visit the site, and look for the buying guide section for first class info. Make the switch, you won't be sorry. Jon
  11. Hi Capice, Thanks for the welcome. I have not compared anything directly, I am only going by the stuff I have read. I do like the one you showed, but prefer the "sword hands". Basically, what I would like to know from those knowledgeable in this area, whether the reps are any good, or just plain lousy? If the experts in this forum say that a "good rep" is available, then I might go for it, but right now, I just don't know. Make sense? Jon
  12. Hi, I am new to the world of reps. Awaiting delivery of first purchase (Sub of course). I adore the elegant simplicity of the IWC Mark XV/XVI, and would dearly love to wear one. The postings on this site and others suggest that the Mark XV reps are not of good quality. I have no idea about what makes this particular watch either a"good" or "poor" rep, and so I appeal for advice. Are there any good reps of the Mark XV, or is it a "lost cause"? Perhaps you might suggest a similar alternative for me to think about? Thanks, Jon
  13. Hello, I have just begun to explore the world of delights. My first order is for a Sub. The waiting game begins....
