thanks for the replies guys! I think i'm just going to get my rep lumed and then buy a gen when funds allow. I'd be perfectly happy with a grey market one though; if a B&P model is £800, i'm sure a grey market model can't be more than £600?

Hey guys, This watch is my first love (in watch terms), it was the watch that brought me here, and the GMT model was my first rep (21j). Unfortunately that watch was stolen and rep forums turned me away from what I like, and on to what is accurate. I'm now consolidating my collection into two watches, the new mark xvi and the 2531. I have a WBK 21j model coming in that will hopefully arrive tomorrow. What are the good parts of this model? is the he valve correctly positioned? Is the 21j movement the same beat rate as the gen? The gen dial is £125 from cousins and the 2892 is £225. When costs are added together for a super franken, I could just pick up a beat up gen. The next issue is the crystal. Does the gen have AR coating? My last question is whether the WBK smp is close enough to the gen that I can just get it relumed and keep it. Thanks for reading guys

I have a few questions though. 1)What movement am I looking to buy? 2)Will any rep case work? or are there problems with them like with all other rolex models. 3)Where do people get their gen dials? almost all the ones I see on the bay are ladies. I think i've already got hold of a gen Plexi, O-ring, tube + crown + hands (minute+hour), and possibly a case. Cheers, -R

Yep it's a gen. Its the predecessor of the artellier. It's very special to me as it's my birth watch and it belonged to my father. Looks like the crystal needs replacing!

Thanks for the answers guys! I suppose the people that are buying these watches will never even consider buying a gen Rolex so it doesn't hurt sales much. I didn't want to get my mum a rep, because it's my mum! I can't have her wearing a rep. also, I left it a bit late for a rep; her birthday is on Sunday. I settled on this ceramic and stainless tissot. when compared to reps I guess it was pretty expensive at £290, but it's a Swiss watch with a three year warranty. I think I'd have a problem gifting a rep too... They just come wrapped in plastic! A gift needs a box IMO. Although having said that I gave my brother an upo. I tried on the new aquatimer while I was there. What a watch. I want a rep please.

Hey guys, i'm getting my mother a watch for her birthday as she's dropped pretty heavy hints that she wants one. But I dont think she'd bother with automatics and setting the time when she doesnt wear it for a day or so, so I was looking for reasonably priced quartz gens (they are all quartz after all). And I found toywatch. I was wondering, how do they get away with just making a rolex design out of plastics? A submariner, explorer, daytona... they're all there. Surely rolex would have some issue with this? If Ford made a car thats body was the exact copy of a 360 modena, changing some minor details in the materials, there would be lawsuits flying like no one's business. Or when samsung use some of apple's code in a phone, samsung get a europe wide sales bar put on their phone! Why are toywatch still allowed to operate? what's the deal?

Hey, I ordered a watch from a member in canada, and he said he shipped it on the 29th of september. 12 days later I still have no watch. This is the longest I have ever waited for any rep from anywhere in the world. is this just a route that takes a long time?
