This watch was sold for $326,500 at Christie's auction, a record price for a Panerai watch. This watch, created for the Egyptian Navy has a stainless steel case and its characteristic Panerai Radiomir brass dial was originally black. The copper colour is the result of the corrosive action of the Radiomir, the radium paste used to make the dial luminous, which having been in contact with the brass for many years has radically changed its colour. I am still trying to wipe drool off my keyboard...

Just a few quick shots of my PAM111 with reddish brown bronzy straps. I realised that the original buckle that came with the watch is 22mm after I paid Bronzy, not realising this strap is 24/24. I was shopping around for a 24mm buckle until I found an old 24mm buckle on a strap that I got free from DSN years ago for my Fiddy. SCORE!! This is the shot that Bronzy posted on his forum that made me pull the trigger. This is what it looks like on my wrist... shots taken in an overcast day with my Samsung S3 phone camera. The grain on this leather is AMAZING!! I'm in love with this watch once again!

Yeah, I think so too. I think the bracelet is kinda... boring. I'm so impressed with this strap watch combo... I might wear it on NYE. It is a quartz after all, I need accuracy for the countdown... can't afford to be -/+ 5 secs! lol

Thanks

I bought a PRC200 a few years ago and I've only ever worn it a handful of times. The rest of the time it just sits in the watch box... all sad and lonely. I decided to take it out a week ago to give it a fresh new battery and I've noticed that rust stains on the bracelet. They do come off when I wipe and clean the bracelet but the rust stains just keeps coming especially when I sweat or when the bracelet is wet. So, I decided to go out look for a strap for it... not knowing of what I would find. I went to 4 different watch stores and I think I'm happy with the outcome. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the watch, here is the PRC200 with the steel bracelet: Here it is with the OEM leather strap: Here it is with a pilot style strap... looks sexy I think! The leather is from Morellato, quite thick but feels very nice on the wrist. So... what do you guys think?

More phone shots: And yes, these photos definitely confirm there is AR on the back crystal too. I think just as impressed with my Samsung S3 phone camera taking decent macro shots. lol!

You mean the logo on the movement? I actually like it, lol! Thanks, wearing it now.... I was worried that it might wear too big but it wears my small wrist really well. Quick wrist shot:

Managed to find a pic with the blue hands AND the swirl patterns of the seconds dial... but on the arabic numerals version.

Any Steinhart fans here? Just picked this one up today... made the deal on the bay. Steinhart Marine Chronometer II, UNITAS 6498 movement, decorated bridges. The photos don't do this watch any justice... this must be a very hard watch to photograph showing the beautiful blue hands AND the swirls on the seconds dial. There are a lot of bad ones out there, these are the best of borrowed pics. Will attempt to shoot my own tomorrow... with no light box! The watch itself is absolutely stunning!! I love the circular decorations on the movement bridges. There are 2 types of decorated movements for this piece... I believe the older models have Geneva stripes with gold base instead of circular engravings. And yes... genuine Y incabloc!! LOL!! This watch makes my new noob PAM111 looks.... BORING!

Well... I haven't' seen it. Thanks for posting GMTlover.

Very hard to take this one off...

To be a true replica collector... you will NEED to accept: NO replica is 1:1... EVER in the entire history of replica manufacturing!! They cost less for a reason, replica manufacturers use lower quality materials (steel, titanium, gold plating... etc) and also much lower quality control and craftsmanship. Sure, some replicas look VERY close to the genuine, but in terms of exact 1:1 cosmetics or quality of materials, no such replica exist. Another fact: NOT every replica that you purchase will be 100% scratch or dust free inside the crystal when you take it out of the box like on your genuines. WHY?? = Massed produced + low cost + limited minimum resources. If you are someone that demands a watch to be sent back to China because of a 0.1 micron scratch under the letter "E" of OFFICINE on the movement.... or, send the watch back demanding a replacement because you can see a speck of dust inside the crystal with your hubble 1,000,000,000,000,000x microscope.... or demanding a refund or report to PayPal because your replica is not true 1:1 when compared to genuine... then this hobby is not for you. Stick to buying genuine, they have warranty plus some will replace bracelets, straps or other parts for free under warranty. And YES, they will definitely last for more than a year. If you want to buy just 1 (ONE) "ULTIMATE, SUPER DUPER 1:1 replica INSERT WATCH HERE"... because you believe that it is the HOLY MOLLY GRAIL of reps.... 2 things can happen: 1. You WILL be disappointed when you find out your ULTIMATE, SUPER DUPER 1:1 replica that you paid 345usd for is not so ultimate super duper 1:1. You will be angry and bitter about it, report seller to paypal, cops, your mum, etc and never buy a replica again. 2. You WILL be disappointed when you find out your ULTIMATE, SUPER DUPER 1:1 replica is not so ultimate super duper 1:1. But, you will be quite amazed on how close it is and feel the love and passion of other members here because they are oh, so close, and share the urge of owning another.... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another... and another............... until you are BROKE!!!! Once you accept these FACTS and are willing to play the customs roulette and could live with the imperfections in replicas (cosmetics, scratches when new due to poor handling etc).... you will become a true Jedi Warrior.... I mean, a true Replica Collector!

Over-winding Asian 6497 Movement(21,600bph)
fendushi replied to fendushi's topic in The Panerai Area
Doesn't matter now... I just got the watch. She winds like a beaut till fully wound, no problems... MORE PICS HERE -
The courier scared the [censored] out of me when he turned up to deliver this today. My door bell was broken so I left my door open anticipating the delivery. I was watching for signs of the delivery van when I turned my back for a couple of seconds, then looked towards the door again and there he was standing at my door way yelling "PARCEL DELIVERY!!!" Delivery was fast... super fast!! Sent on 1st Dec. It came carefully packed to prevent damage during shipping. First thing I checked was the movement. I left the rep scene for a while now, so I was unaware of the quality of the asian 21k bph 6497 movt. I was advised not to wind the movt fully so I had the impression that it's going to feel like winding gears on sand and no clutch to stop the movt when fully wound. To my surprise... the winding was buttery smooth. WAIT.... (cue 70's porn music) "It's buutttaaahhhrryy smmooottthhhh!!! Mmmm.... buttaahhh!!!" And for those of you who are new to this movt, yes it does stop when it's fully wound. Just don't force it when you feel the clutch that stops the winding. The straps kinda smell funny when I took it out of the box... definitely doesn't smell like normal leather... smells funky, rep leather funky! lol! But it looks good and nice imprint on the leather as well. Its a nice sunny day, so I decided to take it out... Functional AR?? Does it serve it's purpose? Maybe not the best shot to tell here. The lume is OUTSTANDING on this rep... the best lume I have ever had on ANY rep. You can even see it glow in a shade outside on bright sunlight. CRAZY!! More shots of the buckle and straps: Another shot of the head... well, i'm just in love... Here it is with my other PAM111... now I have 2!! Both wrists, why not? You can tell how crazy the lume is compared to the other one... this shot is indoors with window lighting. For those of you who are curious, I got the other one from the legendary EL (yes, sadly... he is a legend now ) seems like a lifetime ago now. It's during the time when PAM reps have the incorrect cannon pinnion and have the option to get it upgraded with gen parts. Hope you guys enjoyed the pics!

Yeah... now I'm looking at getting other watches too, including gens... AARRRGGHHH!!!!!!

Over-winding Asian 6497 Movement(21,600bph)
fendushi replied to fendushi's topic in The Panerai Area
The TD replied saying that some of his customers still try to wind at total resistance... one of them must be Robert Bruce Banner. Thanks for your input guys! -
Over-winding Asian 6497 Movement(21,600bph)

HULK.... WIIINNDDDD!!!!!! -
I just had an email from a TD advising me to be careful when winding this Asian 6497 Manual Wind Movement (21,600bph) that's on the noob maker PAM111. I was advised not to wind it fully... to stop winding when resistance is felt (about 25 rounds). He also told me that the movt could break if its overwound. I have 3 other PAM reps that had 6497 (18kbph) (advertised swiss, but prob asian movt) and I wind them fully till it stops with no problems. Does anyone have any experience with these new Asian 6497 21,600bph movt? Is it possible to overwind them?? I dont think it's possible with my current PAM reps, it literally stops me from winding even more if it's fully wound. Can any one that owns any PAMs with asian 6407 (21.6bph) from noob maker confirm this? Can you wind it fully like normal 6497 and the clutch stops you from winding... or can you wind it indefinitely and over-wind the movt?
-
I ordered the N noob factory PAM111 v3. Funny that cause noob = cheap crap when I was last in the rep scene.
-
I've got no one in my hood that could or would mod reps anyway... unless, somebody knows somebody??

Hi Alan, Neil, Ken... ahhh its good to hear from you guys again! What's new?? I've been reading quite a few posts to catch up with the new lingo... "H maker" , "N Noob maker" etc. Then I went: "Screw it, I'm ordering myself a new PAM for christmas!" And I did... lol! Oh, the excitement of waiting... checking tracking every 5 minutes... waiting to pass customs etc... Just like old times, LOVE IT!!

Hi everyone... its been a long, long time! I havent bought a replica (or a watch in years). I think I'm about to be bitten by the bug again....

I'm about to pull the trigger again after a very long time... whooo!!! I've forgotten how addictive these forums are. The rep world have changed since, so I need to re-educate myself again. After reading the forums I am unsure of a few things about the 2 different 2836 movements ("ETA" and Asian clone) A Swiss ETA 2836-2 could be: A genuine Swiss ETA 2836-2 (Dream on!) An brand new Asian clone, regulated with some QC (Most probably?) A old used gen ETA 2836 with refurbirshed old parts (Probable?) Another Swiss brand movement that is similar to an ETA 2836-2 (Unlikely) A genuine swiss 40 yr old movement (WTF??!!) An Asian 2836-2 could be: An brand new Asian clone, regulated with some QC (Would be nice, probable) A stock Asian clone 2836-2, no QC or regulating, hair & dust no extra charge (Most probably?) A genuine Seagull movement that is similar to a 2836-2 (Unlikely) Exactly the same movement as "Swiss ETA" advertised reps (Shock, horror!) Does anyone have any pics of a so called "Asian Clone" movt? Is it the same as in ajoesmith's post?CLICK HERE I don't want to pay the extra $$$ if the Asian clones are as good or in fact the same as Swiss ETAs. I would however, pay the extra bucks if in fact the "Swiss ETAs" are Asian clones regulated with some QC. And I sure don't want to pay extra dollars for an old, used ETA movement. Can anyone clarify anything here? Just want to know if we are paying the extra dollars for anything extra at all.

Nice... I have the same watch.
