  1. Here you go. I'm finally getting the hang of this photo compression thing. I like the weathered look on the dial. The only problem on it right now is that the little marker at the 7 position is off center slightly. You can see its veered a little off course. thanks for looking.
  2. It seems almost every cat and dog has this watch or has heard of this watch, so it doesn't feel special anymore, so I took a picture of it and told it that it was still special to me.
  3. I can't believe the quality on both of these. It really blows my mind. I thought the ROO Montoya thread was hilarious. I couldn't in good spirits show my watch to a gen owner. They might take themselves behind the woodshed and punish themselves for spending so much! Dani, actually, the secs at 9, if you don't mind the secs being there has a nicer backplate than the secs at 12. I'm pretty happy with it. have a good one fellas!
  4. for the price of the gen, plai, it better do that and a whole barrel of tricks!
  5. very nice! also, what color is the Lamborghini?
  6. I'm all over this baby! I hope the mesh is thick and substantial. Nice!
  7. Hello, everyone. Here are some pics of my RB2 (the older secs at 9 version) and the new Montoya titanium white dial. I had no idea the RB2 was that much larger, or rather, I didn't expect the Montoya to be that much smaller. Was I wrong to think they were the same size or is my RB2 simply a bad version and built much larger than it should be? I measured with calipers and the RB2 bezel measures at 45mm and the Montoya measures at 42mm. I always thought they were the same size. Any experiences that are similar are appreciated. Also a cheap wristie of me and my new Montoya. It's off to The Zigmeister in a few days, so the romance will have to happen later. It's a fantastic watch! Sorry about the pics. They're cheap phone pics.
  8. drulee! I'm sold on the blue lume. I will definitely follow your lead on this one. I'm sending mine out in a couple of weeks, so I'll post when I get it back. Just waiting on my AP ROO Montoya to get in so I can send both to Zig.
  9. Thanks, Lani, and Drulee. I think I'm going for the blue. It would make the dial really bump out of the tantlum-looking case. I'll post pics once it gets back from the Zig-man.
  10. Lani, these are great. Given that you have a tantalium watch (or at least the watch that reps the metal), which do you think would work well, a The Zigmeister green lume, or a blue one that will match the hand scheme? I ask because the lume color on yours looks pretty good. I'm going to send my 192 to him, but don't know which lume to go with.
  11. Beautiful. Chopard is on my mind recently. What a good fit for a watch. The strap is the most snug of them all! enjoy, man. I like it.
  12. That's a tough call, but I'm thinking that something like the VC art deco piece would go over well. I think it's a sharp looking watch, and It doesn't look half bad compared to the gen. I think it's a winner based on the criteria you've laid out. http://www.watcheden.com/vacheron-constantin-american-1921-ss-case-with-white-dial-arabic-marking-i-30494-p-1.html
  13. Good call, MOP. I can already see Bond hashing it out with a killer Great White (mesh bracelet and all), after which he adjusts his Valentino tie 100 feet underwater.
  14. this is a great style, and one that heavily underappreciated. Well done, man. I'd like to do this with a couple of pieces myself. What do you think about doing this to a PAM or a vintage omega? My first thoughts were explorer II, but then I realized... I need an explorer II. Damn, my plans are ruined.
  15. fantastic looking watch. I'd like a solid Lange rep, even if it had to cover the back of the watch. I don't mind a top only view. also, am I the only one who thinks that the steel part of the dial looks like a t-shirt for a guy with a beer belly?
  16. I don't have anecdotal experience, since I don't own a RG plated or gold plated watch, but the new watches, like the RG Montoya Royal Oak Offshore claim that they are plated using a process similar to DLC Coating. I know nothing about this process, but I'd like to hear from others if there's merit to the idea that these new plated watches will last longer.
  17. I concur. These watches are fantastic. The Yacht Club has a great feel to it. Same problems as others with the secs at 6 configuration, but it's a real stunner. Also, the handwound looks good.
  18. that's a good question. The RG plating advertised on newer models claims it's like DLC coating. I don't know what that means, but if the plating has improved to that level, this watch sounds more promising at each turn.
  19. I think it depends on where people measure, at the bezel, or at the casing near the crown. I've seen these measurements vary as a result. I could be wrong, though.
  20. Welcome, sir. This one is not likely. The El Primero is not something easily replicated, and most of the Zeniths have major flaws as a result. I will say that the Defy Extreme Chrono looks good, but the Open watches are hard to do. You won't find a decent rep of this on any site, and anyone that claims they do it is either lying or news to me. It's a nice watch. Good luck, and I hope you find some news contrary to what I know about this.
  21. Now that, my friend, would be a very nice thing if I could swing it.
  22. I was about to get the Ti version, but now I'm taking a step back and thinking it over. This one might be a little more up my alley. Beautiful!
  23. I'm not a good judge of this watch, although i've been interested in why a good rep hasn't been available for such a popular timepiece. Can you help me out here? I might be ignorant to this, but why is there one picture that has an engraved caseback and another that has a see-thru caseback on the reverse side? Oh, I see! One's the actual caseback. Never mind. See, I told you I was ignorant. Do any JLC reversos have see thru casebacks?
