I've seen that painting and quite a few others of his. They brought a huge impressionist exibition to Brisbane a few years ago that was one of the largest collections of Dali's work ever assembeled. More than you can see in anyone place in EU even. Was a great show. I'd be happy with any signed Dali, print or not. Col.

A little help in dispelling a myth I believe in

As far as the outside goes a rep is just as tough as a gen and you will never kill a good 21J, trust me Iv'e been trying for 12 mths. If it can stand up to spliting wood or useing an electric jack hammer or full bore rifle shooting you won't break it at work. Stay tuned for the full report on the toture test noob soon. Just have to get the beastie to Offshore for a teardown and pics. Col. -

Aginst stupidity, the gods them selves, contend in vain. What more can you say? Col. -
Ta for the link OS. For what he wants the OBs would be a better choice. That's the cuddy cab version too. The price is ex shipping and taxes, the other one is landed, all costs paid. I think it's a shame they don't still make these, the Kiwi's would love 'em! The cabin is no problem, it's going to Tasmania's west coast where the seas are as high as the boat and the temps like Down East, way Down East. Yep, with air she would make a great Key hopper or Bahamas boat. Been talking to SSboats and we're going to arrange a survey in Japan and see what she's realy like. Time, as Klink would say, will tell. Col.

Your best bet for the MVT would be Cousins UK or Jules Borel and CO The dial and hands, ask around here. What's wrong with the dial and hands? Col.

One of my clients is looking for a new boat and came across a company that imports used boats from Japan. There are some nice craft at good prices (you can have them chked by surveyor in JPN) available for import. He likes the look of this Nissan PS730 and so do I. Looks like it was built to take the rough stuff and has a very ship like feel for a 24 footer. Twin 90s should push it along nicely and the cabin looks positivly blue water proof. Has anyone got any experiance with these jiggers? If the're anything like the Yamaha craft the're bullet proof but I have NFI what they are like and they do not get imported here as the end cost would be too much, same as the Yammys. Dems, KBH, anyone? More pics and stats here. Looks like it would make a fine offshore workhorse and a great fun boat all in one and at 40knt top end she moves fast enough to beat the weather (well, most days). Col.

Need some advice from any Jaguar owners
trailboss replied to Chicken Manny's topic in The looney bin
The new Jags are great. It's a Jag AND reliable I can joke as I had a XJ-S for a few years. Wonderfull car, big, heavy lump of a coupe but the sum was so much more than the parts. It was a mile eater without par. Brisbane to Sydney (1000 odd klicks) was a stroll in the park. You arrived in good shape and still capable of thought and action unlike some GTs that you fight the whole way there. It was a nice big heavy car so took a lot to throw off line, it simply ate rough roads for brekey. That old V12 lump is a great engine as long as you don't overheat it (they don't like that). Loads of torque and a very usefull midrange. This si where the twelve belongs, not wieghting down the nose of a E-type but filling that huge expance in the front of the coupe. I have an option on a one owner example if he ever decides to sell. I have a mate who put a pair of Garrets on onme of the 12s for his Lambo replica (he built it from scratch inc the spaceframe!) I wonder if they would fit in the XJ's engine bay? Hmmmmmm. Please tell me that thing a few posts up is not the new Jag? Sheeeesh! In short, go for it just make shure the car you get has complete and up to date service records. Euro cars do NOT like missing out on regular services. Do it on time and all is well. Miss a couple . . . I would be useing a synth oil such as Mobil One in her too if I were you preferably allong with a Purolator Pure One oil filter and A K&N filter pad just to be on the safe side. Dems: Ypu want the M Coupe or the M Roadster for real Z3 fun! Droping the M3 engine/brakes/suspension in one makes it all the fun in the world and definiatly NOT a woosy girly car. Of cause with your laws strangling the M3's ability to perform as intended even that may be a little blah. Try shoehorning the M3 donk into a 316is instead. The result is the fastest and best handling "Corolla" you've ever seen Col. -
That looks surprisingly good on the green NATO. Col.

Swissgalory are fine and dandy. Julie is the current girl there allthough it used to be Mary before she got a biger deal. Quite a few folk at RWG1.1 have been useing them as Luthier knows the folk there personaly. I have bought from them with no probs. Just make shure they know exactly what it is you want and include pics withy your request. If you ask they will send pics of the watch before shipping. They have a knack for finding anything. If it's reped, they will find it. Don't be afraid to negociate on price. Regards, Col.

Rhack1: Rodico is Jewelers blu tac. It is used for holding small parts for positioning and removeing dust from dials plus many other things. BTW, for those who do not know acatone is a solvent for supa glue, cured or not. If you manage to stick a bezel carefull application of acatone will cure the problem. Just don't get it on anything likely to "melt". Col.

The case back seal is different to the crown seal. The crown seal is an 'O' ring and made of different stuff to the majority of case back seals which are a flat seal of a different compound. They are not made for repeted opening and closing and are supposed to be replaced when opened if max water resistance is to be maintained. Somehow I just knew I had that wrong and you would be around to put it straight It's the well used one at any rate. The one you realy want and it don't work. Col. -
A7750.com is relitivy new on the scene. He hangs out at RWG1.1 if you want to PM him there. He seems oke but there have been a cpl of problem buys but nothing that has not been sorted. Ask Allergy Doc how he went, I think he is sorting out the only big stuffup ATM. Any probs sorting it, I have his Ph #. Col.

Problem is a lot of those tools don't fit! All the dies are spot on execpt the one you actualy use. It's the 26mm from memory. This is basicly the only die you ever use so it's just as cheap to buy a Bergeon single die from someone like nationaljewelerssupplies.com and make a handle for it. Asuming you have basic metalworking tools or someone you know does. BTW, in an ideal world the gasket in the caseback should be replaced every time the watch is opened in case of small nicks or streching. I'd say the guy was just being carefull. No watchmaker likes to open a divers watch without being able to retest it. If he thought it was a gen (it's a DSSD, why shouldn't he?) there is no way he would. His pressure tester can not test to anything the depth rateing of a DSSD or even a normal sub. Col. -
  Oh dearie me, I needed a good laugh. If only. Col.

Hi there mate. Another gen person, great!. You will be surprised to see how many of the members have extensive (and in a few cases, very expensive) gen collections. Any dealer on the recomended list can get you the "best" versions of this watch. Punch them into search, read up on the various versions, find what you want and borrow a image from the post. Email the lonk to a few dealers and see who comes up with the best deal. If you are in the EU you may find it better to go with an EU dealer and ask him to ship from EU (costs a little more) this advoids the problems with customs in certain EU countrys, Italy, Belgium and a lot of the far north are prime examples of where this is advisiable. For the rest of the world, take your pick from the dealers listed here. The curent version of the SOH is an amazingly good rep. Not the best but damn close. BTW, what gens do you have? Make us jealous! Regards, Col.

Hey mate! Another Aussie, awesome! I telling ya, we're gunna take over. Welcome to RWG2 (don't worry about the 2 for now, it will become clear with time) one of the best rep collector's resources on the web. Read heaps and then ask questions, lots of them before you buy. If you can't find it in search and don't ask, you'll never know. Col.

Hi mate, anouther Aussie. We're slowly takeing over here Col.

Oh, Rplex and co know we're here allright. They have proberley been members since the place opened. They come and browse, maybe have the odd chat via PM or even post every now and again. Nothing we can do about that. /me: waves at Rolex guy A lot of dealers in gens use these fora as a valuable resource. If you need to spot a fake you don't go to TZ do you? Unfortuanately some fool noob at RWI proved that just yesterday. After being roasted alive I doubt he'll do that again. If you need to know what's out there to fool you this is where you come and the gen crowd use the rep fora as a tool just like we do. It is not cool however to wear a rep into an AD. It's just not good form and rather impolite IMO. Rubbing their noses in it is just plain stupid and does nothing but harm to our little hobby. There seems to be a plague of this type of behavior from folk ATM and it realy is capable of doing damage. Every AD scared silly upon seeing how good reps are geting is another who will go that extra mile to wipe them out. Why encourage these people by showing them just how good a DSSD or Ebel Disco realy is? The bad thing is that some of these new super reps do fool ADs at first. Then our proud but silly rep owner tells him "na, it's a rep!" How do you think the AD feels then? I know I'd be [censored]. Oke, if you leave a new super rep, say a BK sub or a Disco on your wrist chances are your gunna get away with it but it's still just plain rude. And if you don't, it's one more alarmed and angry AD. It just ain't worth it. Col.

1st post, inc. obligatory noobish questions.
trailboss replied to Agrippa's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
The one question no one has answered is about winders. The watches you have been interested in so far all use the Sea-Gull ST19 MVT. Thi sis a handwind not an auto so a winder is not necessory. A hand wind is more suited to occaisional wear than an auto so is proberly a good choice for your "three times a year" dress watch. If the bug bites and you get some autos a timer is nice to have if you chop and change you daily wear. Try acetimer.com for the best deals on quality timers. Anything sold cheaper than theirs is most likely not going to last and/or be noisey. The Ace ones you can barely hear in most cases. Col. -
LOL, John Clarke and Bryan Dawe have been doing one of those "interviews" every week on the thursday Seven Thirty Report for years. John has a hugely dry whit and has played just aboul every pollie in OZ during these little bits. Google him on Utube and see what else turns up. Col.
