  1. Actualy Andy what kills 'em is the luminous material that is exited by the tritium breaks down under the bombardment well before the radioactive element degrades enough to preclude exitment.. Even after 20 odd years if you were to put a new layer of the correct lume over the old tritium it would have some glow again. If you have acess to a geiger counter you should still pick up radiation from a bare dial even after 30 odd years, not much but enough to comfirm tritium lume. Col.
  2. Do you think either of them even saw the thread? No one reads OT any more. Col.
  3. Sounds about right to me. 300-350 ish. Col.
  4. Yep, it's a stellar pair of birthday boys today! The gang at RWG1.1 wanted to pass on their regards. Bit skint to afford pressies so the 1.1 Bann Hamster offered to sing a little tune: We got you a cake tho, hope you don't mind shareing. This lass wil be around later to serve it up: She doesn't mind shareing either Best regards and wishes from the Team at RWG1.1 fellas! Col.
  5. Crystal clear now mate Yeah, you're right some folk would complain. LOL at anyone complaining about their pirated DVDs. What do they expect? Of cause now dual layer disks are cheap a lot do have the extras, or so I'm told Col.
  6. I'd like to know the answer to that too nleap. FYI, if you want a watch in this pricerange specificily for using the slide rule Seiko have the exelent SNA411a for about 200 bucks which does all the calculations with a garentee of accuracy. Don't EVER use a rep for important stuff like flying or working out wether you have enough fuel on board to get out to the reef and back. Seiko: Yes, it's quartz but it's a damn good tool watch if that's what you need, not want. Col.
  7. I would be droping Mary at watchinternational a line. Ask her price on a Noobmariner. She will be cheaper than that. watchinternational@gmail.com Tell her trailboss sent ya! Col.
  8. Interesting device. I'm sure an IWC nut would love one in the collection. Tell me why do you think that " the factories will soon stop putting soft iron inner case to avoid refunds and complains." ? Maybe something lost in the translation but I fail to see how includiing the case could result in complaints. Col.
  9. How the hell did I miss this the first time round? Gob smackingly good review there mate! Seriously, that was brilliant, words fail me. Now, which one to buy? Gotta make up my mind 'cause now I want one. Thanks Toady  Col.
  10. Joseph Cyril Bamford. JCB are the world's largest manufacture of Backhoe loaders as well as many other earthmoving equipment types and the legendry Fastrac tractor (raod speed of over 60kph) plus a large range of industrial diesel engines. JCB also hold the world diesel land speed record. More info here: JCB HISTORY Ask and ye shall recive. Col.
  11. Fixed BM: This should be interesting. Anyone got some swarf from one of these so called 316F cases to donate? Anyone know what steel Seiko were using in the 70s? All my old Seikos have a deeper, "bluer" shine when prperley poliched than the moden watches I own, rep and gen. I wear my beater reps around reasonablely harsh acids all the time (my skin is used to it and tougher than most) and have never seen a problem. It would be intertesting to get a collection of junk cases and do a real world exposure test in different harsh enviroments and see what happens just for the hell of it. Col.
  12. What an amazing pic Lani! Thank's for shareing. Col.
  13. We now have 16 confirmed attendees! This should be a beaut folks. Col.
  14. AFIK Mary is still working on a website so I'd stay clear of that one untill she comfirms/denies ownership. Just use here section here and email her for any info on stuff not on here, she can get anything that's made, Col.
  15. If I were you I'd drop MARY an email and ask her for a price. You will find she will be a lot cheaper than Josh on any watch. Note that D4M's is a gen ETA tho at a lot less than Josh wants for the clone so no, it's not worth more for a cheaper MVT and I don't realy see any other difference. Personaly I'd go for the D4M's or a 21J one for around 120 bucks or less. Yeah, sure. Col.
  16. Which Miyota? There are hundreds of them and a half dozen different ways the dial is attached. Col.
  17. BB: PM sent. See you on the 12th Dec. Col.
  18. Better still, Why is a section called "Gentlemens Lounge" expanded and the collectors section collapsed into two headings making it so much harder for da noobs to find? Seems to me it should be the other way around. At least then the collectors sections could be seen by da noobs. I wonder how many come and go without even realising that there are any, um, "collectors" here? Just my 2c. Col.
  19. Giving himself an out as well. How the hell do you wreck a 1665 short of driving a tank over it? Col.
  20. How much water exactly? A bit of condensation may be cleared by removing the back and leaving it the sun for a while. Mind you, a trip to the AD would be the safest option for a relitivy expensive watch. Was it sold as water resistant? If so the onus may be on them to fix her up at their expence anyway. They prob won't, but you never know. Col.
  21. Make that nine. It appears that you lot are gunna have to put up with Offshore and my good self as well. See you all in Sydney! Col.
  22. I think you can blame me for that in a small way. Col.
  23. Oh all right JJ, if you insist, I won't go and buy a 39.000 dollar dial for my $120 SR Col.
  24. Good on you bob bean and ST4! That makes seven at last count. It's not starting untill midday anyway ST4 so don't panic I suspect the lads 'll be around for a while Both of you added. Col.
