  1. looks like another "I'm going to make the most awesome pam evar!" thread, gets everyone excited, and nothing ever comes out of it.

    PAM359M

they sent you info to pay and then you didn't pay....and you want to know if you should pay?
  3. looks legit to me just from looking at the engravings on the case. I am not convinced the case is too thick since this is a HEV equipped sub model. the rehaut looks wokky from crystal distortion? I have seen other vintage peices without the bezel insert recessed. The recessed insert seem to be found more so on the more recent peices. Though it does appear thicker than other bezels I have seen on subs, this looks more like a sea dweller bezel. though it is not comex stamped, the dial looks to be gen, there are no vintage rep dials I know of that get the 12 o'clock marker right. movement is gen. I have not seen that exact caseback, but it is similar to other gen 5514s. It appears stamped, and not engraved like rep versions. The one in my reference book does not have the gas escape text on the bottom, but it also states that the exact amount of variations is unknown. end links are gen

    Another Sub...

Cool, I did not know that. This is a rare find, no? Old school indeed!
  5. cg = crown guards. on your next bezel insert, I'd do more fading and less scratching, it's just my personal preference of course. It's all I did to my bezel.

    Another Sub...

^^^Remember that chris @ ETZ sold all his euromariner's with the clark's crystal already installed. It's bee nice to see that this would take gen parts like a clark crystal. Some cg shaping and this thing is looking great!
  7. Thanks for sharing, the end result is fantastic. Which dial are you using? If you were using a gen dial, and the mbk case does not have rolex stamped on it, why couldn't you sell this on tz or ebay? Also, since the mbk case is made to fit the eta movement, are there are modifications you have to make to get the gen rolex movement to fit the caes?
  8. If you have this much anxiety before you even purchase one, just think about the nervous wreck you are going to be wearing one. "did they notice my watch is fake? What if they call the police? What if they get a search warrant and find more replica watches in my house, I'll go to jail FOREVER!"
  9. thanks again guys. I took your advice and purchased the clarks superdome from nostalgia on ebay. He was very thorough, helpful, and polite. Rail dial in route as well.
  10. I'm bummed to see that the pearl is still crooked in the insert even with all BK's qc. congrats though.
  11. thanks guys, great info here! You make this hobby possible! I emailed the pmwf link you posted freddy, thanx, waiting to hear back. It looks like a great option. In the meantime, I sanded down and widened the inner diameter to fit and sharpied the edge. Then I ran into another problem, which starts from my first mistake. well, as it turns out, I made the mistake of purchasing a wholesale outlet t39. It is also too big for the retaining ring. A rolex watchsmith whose always happy to help me out pointed out that it is .5mm larger than the mbw crystal. The WSO crystal outer diameter measures 30.5mm. This is still .2mm too big for the inner diameter of the gen spec pmwf insert. He said IF it was a high quality acrylic, like a gen rolex, it would be more flexible and would probably work with the retaining ring. But, it is a cheap $30 acrylic crystal so it is brittle and has no flex so it will not work. And it would still be too big for the insert. If you have any suggestions for a crystal besides gen, that would be great. Or else, I'll just wait till a gen crystal of any sort pops up. until then, I reassembled it back with all the mbw parts until I can source better quality parts. so, moral of the story, pass on the wholesale outlet crystals. thanks again guys! pic of my sub that I built with your guys's help in the past. 12. Now the bezel insert will not fit. The crystal fits the case perfect, but the insert's circumference is not large enough to accomodate the T39. What can I do? I really don't want to sand away the inner diameter of the bezel insert. Is there a know problem with the mbk inserts being to small? Would a gen insert have a wider inner diameter? A sub insert fits fine over the T39, but of course it needs the sub bezel, and I would hate to put the thin sub bezel on this watch. Should I just ditch the t39? I know I have seen 1665's with superdomes, that's why I bought it, so I'm confused. any suggestions would be great! here it is before I started hacking into it!
  13. You could send it out to The Zigmeister, rex, or PBdad for a relume so the dial and hands match. Also, I have a gen GMT rolex crown if you are interested.

the bluesy looks great! But is that the haymarket nova check plaid on the lining of your suit?

    New 114!

looks great and congrats, don't see a lot of these. Mine says "hi!"
  16. wow, this looks amazing! That strap is killer! (did you just sand down a rep strap? ) 45mm case still to big? Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  17. ^^^^how sure are you? I have an 1680 NDT dial (singer signed back) that fits a gen movement, and laying them on top of eachother, the datewindow lines up with the 1680 dial from josh.
  18. So, I am trying to get access to my keyless works, and the large silver datewheel overlay is in the way of the releasing spring (white arrow) for the datewheel. The date disc overlay is on there good, I can't remove it from the underlaying one with gentle prying. Is there another way to remove the datewheel? Like, if I remove the red arrow screw? Any suggestions would be GREATLY aprpeciated! warm regards, borrowed this pic from ubi, hope you don't mind! 19. wow, work of art! pm'd off topic, but which crystal do you have on your sea dweller?
  20. Totally agree, the endlinks make this watch superior to a 1 mm difference in the crown position when veiwed from a side profile. And of all gen owners I know, none would know the difference in the crown position. chef, how did you seperate the endlinks from the rest of the bracelet?
  21. So pics to share would be nice.
  22. I did research on this seller, I have heard great things from this dropshipper. Most of the issues customers had were resolved in a reasonable way. I never heard complaints of getting a different watch than what was pictured. I bought two other subs along with the GMT, and both the subs were the same, I ordered 2 as the qty. However, neither of them wound, like the stem's were too short, and they were different from eachother. One's rehaut engraving's was dark and pronounced along with a huge crown on the crystal, and the other seemed to have nice rehaut engravings and a nicer crown on the crystal. He is working on this one already. Guess I just got a crappy $900 batch from him.
  23. Thanks for the advice BT, I will get a gen. I guess, lesson learned, don't expect to get the watch the dealers are showing you a bajillion pictures of on their website. Though I must say, this is a huge problem for us. Because we base our decisions of our purchase and price point based on what flaws we can deal with on the watches we buy based on the pictures of them. The description never says, "wokky rehaut, misaligned date wheel, wrong font, low bar in the A font, poorly fitting sels, unrecessed bezel." We have to look at the pictures to decide! We know a noob is a noob because we have seen pictures of them. Now, imagine if WM9 sent you a v3 with a slightly wokky rehaut? Would people then say, well, you should have gotten a MBW, euromariner, or a gen...those chinese reps are terrible. Ok, enough bitching from me, there's nothing I can do about it now, except never buy from this seller again.
