  1. Just wanted to give an update with my communications with Mary. To her credit she did offer a refund but I really didn't want to send the watch back, so after some negotiation she agreed to send me a new braclet and a new bezel and refund $25, which I though was a very fair and proper thing to do. Hats off to Mary!!

  2. See what she says. It's probably going to suck sending it back though, you'll probably have to live with the marks and perhaps get a modder here to install a new pearl and whatever else is cheap and easy..

If you send it back it could easily be a month or two before you get a new one back, and you'll probably pay to ship it there as well, then you need to hope they send you a better one..

This is what I was thinking. It could end up a whole lot more hassle than it's worth? Can you suggest a modder here in the UK?

  3. Hi guys, I am fairly new to the forum but have always had a look to see what's going on and have been on the look out for a good dealer to buy from. I selected Mary after reading a few positive posts from other members. So I ordered the PO 42mm swiss at$310.

    However, after receiving the watch I was dissappointed to find that the watch has a few issues. Not knowing to much about the rep world and the quality, am I being to picky with the problems I have listed below or is this the norm? I have sent Mary an email but as yet I haven't had a reply. Here are the problems;

    • Dust under the glass above the date.

    • Small mark on the AF above the 12 o’clock position

    • The marker at the 6 o’clock position is not straight

    • There is a very small mark on the number six

    • The clasp is scratched

    • The link next to the clasp is scratched

    • Clasp is very hard to close

    • The small ring around the pearl at the top of the bezel is flawed. There are gaps around the ring and the quality of the ring is not good.

    Wwould really appriciate any feedback/comments.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi, I recently bought the 3717 from Andrew and absolutly love it! However I do have a slight problem (well I hope it's only slight). The second hand sweep keeps stopping at the 5 o'clock position?? if I give it a little shake or push the top chrono button it start moving again.

Can anyone advise on the problem and what I can do about it. I don't partically want to send it back, although i know Andrew will get it sorted. I would like to sort out myself is possible.

    Many thanks.

  5. That doesn't sound right. Some of these movements die early some die late. A watchmaker could probably look at it and fix it...but I'm going to present a couple different options.

    1. If it's only 2 mos old...talk to your dealer about either a repair
    2. OR if you're doing another order, if he can ship a new movement and you do the repair
    3. Order a replacement movement locally if you can (much cheaper than China) and get a watch person to swap it or you swap it

The movements generally only cost $10-15 assuming it's a DG2813 so you can replace with the same or a DG4813 and a swap will cost about $30-50 depending...or you can get some tools and try it yourself for fun (expecting to do a little damage but having fun in the process and learning a bit).

You'll need to swap the datewheel.

The reason I propose this is the cost of the watch is low...so diagnosing and repairing the movement is generally not too cost effective. Shipping back to China costs $20 and you'll be out a watch for 2 months...so...you'll need to figure out what you can tolerate. Yes, repair would be the "fairest" to you...but inconvenient...and still some cost to return ship.

Your right, given that the watch is of very low cost, sending it back doesn't make any sense. I think I will buy the movement and give it a go myself!

Where would you recommend the best place to pick up the movement and tools?

  6. I've had mine now for about two months. However I find that each morning when I go to put it on, I have to wind it up, give it a shake etc... to get it going. Even then, it will stop a few times more before it really gets going. This has only started to happen within the last couple of weeks. I understand that it is only the basic asian movement but I would have hoped for some form of accuracy. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  7. Hi Guys and girls, This is my first ever post and have to say I have learn't so much by just reading some of the many interesting posts on this site. It's opened up a whole new world I didn't know existed! So much so, I decided to start with Trusty's seadweller lite after reading some recent reviews. It looked good and a really reasonable price.

Well, I recieved it in the post today and WOW! it really is a great watch for the price. However, one problem, the movement is so noisy. You can hear this thing in the next room wizzing around. Should it be like this? surely not. I know I didn't pay a lot for it but it is loud!

I have sent Andrew an email, just waiting for a reply. Has anyone else had this problem? is there anything I can do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!
