  1. If it does need a new balance...you might be pooched. Sourcing the proper balance is a pain on the Asian movements. If you have a donor movement of the proper rate, you might be alright, but it will likely be very difficult to source a balance otherwise. Check this thread for a discussion on what happens if you get the wrong balance.

You can get a replacement A7750 movement for around $120 - $150...plus labour to swap...unless Michael has a part that can work...then the it would be the part plus the labour to service and fix.

True, but when looking at that thread the problem was finding a balance spring for a 21.6 k beat valjoux whereas the one in the skylands the 28.8 k, would've thought it was alot easier than the 21.6 to source a balance for

  2. If I'm right Josh was implicated in the Cartel incident, I've read quite a few posts on Silix drop shipping. As for Angus aka Puretime, he's great ( even though I've only used him so far :p), answers emails promptly and with detail, willing to answer questions on sourcing reluming, servicing etc, great dealer. As for the watch, never been an amazing fan of DeWitt but to each ones own

  3. I hope so he has my blackbird in for a relume at the moment, dont expect an answere in the next few days as he told me he would be away for a few days.

Nice, I was just wondering what kind of price for relume and servicing + regulating? Already sent an email, just hope he takes two weeks rather than the three weeks seeing as I'm in uk till early feb

  4. I am assuming that you mean the Balance spring and not the main spring, the main spring would not be visible as the main spring is the one that powers you watch, the balance spring make the balence swing back and forth alowing the power of the main spring to move hands via the going train. If you have bent it you have probelbly damaged something.

    A photo would be good

Sorry, yes I mean the balance spring, can't upload a photo at the moment but I've read through other bits of the forum and seems replacing the hair spring is an issue that a watchsmith can fix with an hour or two's work. Thanks Anyway

  5. Hmmm, I agree that at times that its not good form to say reveal base prices when we have our respected dealers and the premium we pay is as a direct result of them sourcing the gen watches for 1:1's, sourcing high quality reps and generally cutting through all the leg work that we would otherwise have to do to find these reps for ourselves.

The dealers prices should reflect the level of service and QC we have (although there may be some concerns that these are slipping) , but I believe that occasionally people need to be reminded what the retail price is in China. This way, it grounds people and stops people from paying excessive prices, which then leads to rep prices inflating etc etc as people become more deluded as to the value of these reps. By occassionally reminding them we might be able to make these people reevaluate their worth and slow this upward trend

  6. Thats something clive would like very much!

Well I congratulate the PR guy who managed to turn this brand into a success...........taking more or less cheap rep quartz Rolex's, on plastic bracelets, and selling them for the same amount as our super reps or more. The unfortunate thing is that it means that people are stupid enough to go out and buy them, ah well. Ironically toywatches have been repped in China, saw some in Shen Zhen last week

  7. Well, going to places like Lo Wu in Shen Zhen etc is hit and miss man, you can find some good pieces there but sometimes it can go really south, just need to do quite a bit of leg work if you want to save money on buying reps of similar quality to ones online. I went to Lo Wu last week and got a Frank Muller Crazy hour for 200 HKD, better than the ones sold by dealers on here, proper case back etc. but then other things like the Skyland were impossible to find of the same quality on here, stuck on dials, painted on pearls, looked like a toy watch. So yeah, you can find good stuff in the markets, you just need to really know what your looking for and be lucky
