  1. If you do get a Asian 7750 don't use the chrono or likely hood is that the second marker will jump and aline at 12.01 instead of 12.00. Other than that it'll be good as long as you give it a service!

  2. When asked what he would do to solve the economic crisis if appointed as Federal Reserve Chair, Jim Rogers responded "Abolish the Federal Reserve, and then resign."

Here's to hoping he gets appointed! :D

Ha, yeah before he gets assassinated and replaced with somebody who'll reinstate it... I certainly wouldn't want to try and sort out this mess.

  3. You've very similar taste in watches to myself. I got a Tag Carrera as my first rep, and have wanted a IWC Portuguese for awhile.

Personally i see the Carrera as more of a smart casual/sports watch and the Portuguese as a dress watch, which is why I could justify owning both!

It all comes down to what situations you think you'll be using this watch most, only reason I don't have a Portuguese is the dress occasions I go to at present aren't often enough to warrant a dress watch....

You'll be happy whatever you get but the Carrera is more practical and I think you'd get more ware out of it!

  4. Firstly, welcome. Secondly with regard to customs being an issue its down to luck, many people (including myself) have gotten stuff from china/hk etc through customs no problem. Thirdly if you want to reduce likely hood of seizure, order through one of the dealers here as they know what to do to minimize customs risk. Finally you have a massive wealth of information to absorb so good luck!

  5. Thanks for all the replys and ideas guys, i think i'll def have to get a new crystal one way or another. Put a wanted post in the trading section, as i figure there must be loads of 42mm PO's that have died over the years, prob some people who have them setting about with a nice double ar crystal etc...!

  6. I would just contact the dealer and ask for a whole new replacement watch. That is unacceptable. Be glad it didn't explode and take out one of your eyes, or one of your family member's eyes.

If i had bought it new from a dealer here i would without a doubt have done that, sadly its second hand from the TradingZone.

  7. Damn, what a nightmare, seems to have just fractured, no signs of a bump/knock either! :o

Contact your dealer, maybe you can get a new crystal shipped out? if it's a UPO, parts should be readily available, just a question of getting the crystal installed....

Cover up any gap in the crystal too, to stop dust/dirt getting at the dial etc.....

    Good luck! B)

Nope, haven't even knocked it recently! Its not a UPO, nor is it new. I bought it second hand on here... so a replacement from the factory isn't in the question sadly!

I had the exact same thing happen to a Seiko Orange Monster. It delaminated just like that. Of course I was standing on it at the time........ :Jumpy:

Forget trying to source a real domed Seiko replacement. Can't be done. But I bet you can push that crystal out with your thumbs (remove the movement first) and measure it up, and get a nice GS sapphire replacement for not too much $$$.

I could certinaly remove it and measure it up but what is a "GS sapphire replacement"? And maybe more importantly where might i get one?
