  1. I agree that it is a bit "much" as far as ideas go. But when women think something is a good idea, they can be very persuasive. These are all good ideas. I'm going to look into all of them and see what I like best. Also, I might just buy a Ladies Datejust Rep - White Face on an Oyster Bracelet. Close enough to my EXP II. Just have to explain the concept of the self-winding watch. Who knows, maybe the whole thing will blow over... :whistling:

  2. The Rolex Masterpiece is a very nice rep in both ladies and mens. Automatic however. The only other option I could think of is the tag link, or if you can convince her that larger watches are the trend for women these days (is is you know) get matching Daytonas, yachtmasters or anything else for that matter. Just buy two.

That was my first plan... But she is so small, that even my Datejust rep is wider than her wrist. I will look into the Tag Link. If I am not mistaken, the Masterpiece is the one in your Avatar & Signature?? I like that too, but might be too much for me to pull off.

  3. Ok, so I opened my big mouth and told my girlfriend she needs a new watch. I was fishing for Christmas gift ideas, and her current timepiece is a 5 year old $50 Guess. Could use an upgrade...

Well, her response is that we should get matching watches...:shock: It's hard enough to find a decent ladies rep, let alone one that has a matching male counterpart. I would prefer quartz, at least for hers, for all of the reasons stated about ladies reps.

Any advise on a good ladies rep that has a nice Mens counterpart?? I saw the "Couples Watches" on WatchEden, but most look like crap.

    Thanks so much....

  4. Well, it's just my opinion but if the point of buying gifts for employees is to show your appreciation for their hard work and dedication, you're making a HUGE mistake by playing it cheap or by buying reps. Most of the people here buy reps for their own enjoyment and we have a special appreciation for reps which is frequently NOT shared by the public at large. Most people would be very insulted at receiving a rep as a gift. Clearly, I don't know your situation but if I were in your shoes, I'd avoid cheap gifts or rep gifts. I'd rather receive a $50 box of chocolate (for example) than a $50 watch/jewelry/scarf.

    +1

  5. I second this approach... Honestly tho, the only way I can classify this question is low-class (unless it is among my good friends who know that I have an interest in both). But random people who walk up to people, like at a bar, and ask this question are either elitist snobs who think everyone is wearing a fake but them, or just someone with poor taste.

My favorite is people who as my father this. He has a gold Presidential that he got as a retirement gift. He could buy something like that, but probably wouldn't. He tells everyone it is fake. He says "Why get robbed for it, just to make a point."

Swift Punch to the throat seems to shut them up and stop those pesky questions

  6. At the top of this forum, there is a Pinned topic titled "So you want to become a dealer..." That will explain everything you need to know. Also, I think it is commendable to ask rather than just attemting to start selling. Saved you a lot of hassle, and increased your credability a little, at least in my limited experience.... :whistling:

  7. For me, the white dial Explorer II has been somewhat of a "grail" watch. Seeing one on my friend's fathers wrist started my love for watches. Finances started my love for reps... =)

As much as I loved this watch, I stayed away from reps of it. Largely die to the reports of the hour indices / hands being the wrong color. Well, one came up in Silix's "specials," and the pictures looked right. So, I e-mailed him, and he assured me that everything was indeed the color it should be. For the price, what did I have to lose?

Well, my watch arrived today. And, I love it. The hands and indices are all a crisp black (the quick camera phone shots might not reflect this). The movement is surprisingly smooth for an a21j. I love it!

Now, I know it is not perfect. The crown is wring, the bracelet has the longer clasp and divers extension, and the sticer on the back is a joke (that will be coming off shortly). But, for me, (and especially for $30), it is great. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. LOL I will be sure to send the guy/gal in England a card to go with his present. On a serious note, basically I am left wondering if they made a mistake on the tracking code they gave me, or of my item is going on the slow boat to London, to take the slow boat back to Hong Kong, to be put on its final slow boat to me lol... Let's hope it doesn't come to that. :bangin: Will keep RWG informed.

  9. Ok, so I ordered a watch from a reputable collector on this site (whose name I will leave out until I see how this all turns out). Order, payment and receiving tracking code was all completed in just over 3 days. I ran the tracking code tonight and it says Destination: United Kingdom.:shock: I am in New York USA!!!

I contacted the collector right away, and he said "we have given the shipping agent the right address. maybe they made a mistake. Don't worry, it is still in Hongkong, we will fix it." To me, if a tracking code is showing a destination, my new watch is on its way to England already...

So we'll see what happens. Hopefully it will all work out. Just venting at this point.....
