  1. Some more:

"I see here so many movements are advertised as ETA movements, but they are all fake movements. Some are also with ETA stamp but also fake movements (fake stamp). Unitas movements on all Panerai Replica watches or Marina Militare Models are all made in ASIA and not genuine ETA movements... EXCEPTIONLESS. The blue screws are only blue color, the swan neck is non- functional and the quality is poor. Genuine ETA movements are OUT OF SALE and no longer available for public. Prices for genuine SWISS MADE ETA movements rised up 50% or 250% in few months depending on model. And genuine ETA movements comes from SWITZERLAND and not from asian sellers. All this advertised ETA movements here (also with swan neck) costs $15-$20 in production and comes from asia. Here you have the possibiltie to buy a genuine SWISS MADE ETA movement directly from GERMANY and probably the last chance before ETA stop the sale in 2009. This movement will be invaluable in few years"

    and:

"ALL CUSTOMERS FROM GERMANY OR EUROPEAN UNION (EU) WILL PAY ADDITIONAL 19% TAXES. EBAY PRICE IS NETT PRICE WITHOUT TAXES AND ONLY FOR NON-EUROPEAN BUYERS. EUROPEAN BUYERS WILL PAY EBAY PRICE + 19% TAXES.

ALL INTERNATIONAL BUYER OUTSIDE OF EU WON`T PAY DUTIES/TAXES - TAX/DUTY FREE"

    !!!!!!!!!

  2. Hi,

It may have already been discussed but I could not find traces of it.

Tourby is selling watches through eBay under the alias tourby_watches...

See how he is advertising the chinese stuff he is selling !!

"I am a small watch manufacturer from Germany and build bespoke timepieces

    Unique GERMAN MADE customized pilot

  3. ETA has stop only selling his ebauches to some companys. Some swiss companys (selitta, soprod) bought ETA ebauches and overwork them (decoration) and sold them for much higher price. ETA makes less profit on ebauches, but this companys makes high profit on decorated movements. And ETA want now sell also decorated movements and will make this profit for his own. Also will ETA accept customs orders from big watch brands and will build decorated movements special for this brands.

I'm no specialist but that's also what I understood from the beginning. ETA will stop selling ebauches at all from 2012, so a caliber based on an ETA ebauche will have to be replace either by a non ETA movt or by the standard ETA, bearing ETA's logo (and not IWC, Oris, ML or whatever).

Standard ETA movt will still be available otherwise ETA closes down.

For rep maker, is there any issue? Won't they buy standard movt, replace the rotor by a rotor with the logo they want to rep, then seal the case? Instead of infriging the replicated brand only, they will infringe ETA's rules but do they care?

Again, that's what I understood. Am I wrong?

EDIT: there's not only sellita as an alternative for branded calibers but also miyota, seagull, etc.

Who can give us a short overview of how they compare to each in terms of quality/robustness?

    My guess;

    1. ETA

    2. Miyota

    3. Seagull

    ?. Sellita?

    etc.

  4. But Patek is the sine qua non of taste. Lange is another level of appreciation and complexity. It's got that cold German touch that allows you to admire it, without becoming soppy about it. That's a great thing.

My favorite in terms of taste is Blancpain, for both sport watches (FF...) and complications.

Just behind, Girard Perregaux, Audemars Piguet, Lange, Glashutte...

Patek Philippe... Apart from Nautilus and Heure Universelle I don't see anything worth its fame. Same for VC...

Finally de Bethune and de Grisogono brings us the marvel of italian style... !!

Anyway, thanks for the honesty. ;)

Thanks for your open mind !! :-D

  5. OK, this is not a watch, and this is not a rep;

It is not very sexy but only costed me about 2 burgers:

I want to share with you my rattrapante stop-watch

    Slava92.jpg

    Slava66.jpg

To me, this is more significant than a tourbillon, which is complete non-sense in a wristwatch.

Plus, time-keeping in chinese tourbillons is usually worse than is it in a plain standard caliber...

When will China start to develop cheap rattrapantes, secondes foudroyantes, r

  6. The Wristwatch Annual seems to be a must...

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/078920904...id=MSE8B9HFR0DF

But does anybody recommend me one of the books below (or earlier editions):

    - Grand Complications: High Quality Watchmaking - Volume II

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/084782894...id=MSE8B9HFR0DF

    - Watches International Volume VIII

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/084782939...id=MSE8B9HFR0DF

I'm looking for something quite comprehensive, with nice pix but also a lot of text and technical details.

    Thanks...

  7. If I was in your position, and I wish I was, with exactly that amount to spend on one watch, I would get Joshua Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Real Flying Tourbillon. At $598, it is within your price range, and the tourbillon complication is one of the most sought-after and highly-respected modifications you can have on a replica watch. This is, however, no fantasy rep - it is actually a very close copy of the Jules Audemars Classic Collection tourbillon - priced at about $270,000 USD.

Sounds good but not realistic at all !!

I refrain from buying reps from brands that are really not in my wallet range. Otherwise it is really obvious to anybody it is a fake.

So I'd stay in the chinese tourbi or classic chrono.

By the way, how are the asian chrono or tourbi you've got?

The asian 7750 in my PAM is crappy, so I'm not so keen into getting a rep chrono, I may be wrong!
