  1. Got to agree with Tanya on this one, a 112 would be a better choice for me at that price. $3,800 is not bad for mint but consider the long-term collectability :)

If it was long term collectability then the lower number logos make sense not the much higher production 111/112. You can get 000 for 32-3500 all day right now though.

  2. For me, I go through alot of trouble to find great crystals. For some reason people dont talk much about it but I feel that is a major difference with the gens being so clear and non diffractive at angles. The height is also a major issue for me. I have seen the dealers changing crystals from time to time and scoop up the ones that are good at angles and height above the bezel. All this AR aside, the new DSN ones are pretty good but I usually take the AR off as it isnt that noticeable on gens and I usually like Prev/A builds.

  3. For those of you with an eye for symmetry- Does this look straight? I think it does... But I've been staring at it for so long now that I think my eyes are playing tricks on me.

Sometimes, it looks just ever so slightly off kilter:

If I do a grid of straight lines, however, it looks fairly straight, I think...

    Thoughts?

Kinda hard to get a straight on photo with everything square, even, level... I think I need to figure out a jig or something with these things :)

Looks straight to me. I have optic effects with the pre A/V dials too. Im anal about it

  4. Quick clarification, the 2533 was the original proto for the 3646 dated around 1936. This proto used a Rolex cushion shaped PW with attached sodered lugs. According to serial #s there could be as many as four of these left with two known examples.

The Kampschwimer watches were for the most part devoid of markings (although many had the Rolex engraving in the caseback) not so much because Rolex didn't want their markings on these, but mostly as a request of the Kampschwimers who didn't want their equipment identified by the enemy.

Panerai didn't start using Angelus movements in their watches until 1956.

So there are four unaccounted for somewhere out in the world? I have a dream of going to a huge dusty swap meet and finding one in the bottom ogf a box of watches- I will offer $20
