  1. A useful bit of info I learned today: Timpson (a national chain of locksmith/shoe repairers/watch repairers here in England) offer a pressure testing service in their stores, up to 200m. Good news for those who'd rather not traipse around jeweller after jeweller being frowned upon by snobbish shopkeepers for our unspeakable hobby, haha. I took my newly acquired SMP along today and for the princely sum of
  2. Thanks for the replies guys, testament to all that is great about this place as always.
  3. Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not just being a noob and failing to search, just hoping for a second opinion really as to whether it's the bezel or the watch face/movement itself that has been incorrectly fitted. Hopefully it's just the bezel which I can fix! Perhaps you guys could have a glance at these other pics and see what you think is up?
  4. That's the thing...the bezel doesn't line up dead on the 12, it clicks into place either just after or just before...
  5. Actually, the more I look, the more it seems like the face AND the bezel are slightly off. Could just be an optical illusion. Either way it's frustrating
  6. So my SMP just arrived after a few concerns with the dealer, more on that at a later date. However, to my totally untrained eye something isn't quite right: So it seems to me - and please correct me if so, but the bezel is not properly aligned. The movement / face itself seems to be in place right, but being a total beginner I'm happily put right if mistaken. Should I accept this? Is it something I can easily fix or (heaven forbid...) get used to?! I guess my biggest concern is that if the dealer has let this fairly obvious fault slip through then perhaps QC is totally lacking - is there anything else I should be checking over bar the general condition of the watch and parts? My other problem is that the bracelet wasn't resized as I asked. I had a feeling this would happen even though the dealer suggested adjusting it to me, not vice versa. It seems to be held in with screws rather than pins - should I do this myself or take it to somebody who knows what they're doing? Thanks for any advice. Happy with the purchase except a few disappointments really.
  7. So I finally bit the bullet and ordered my first today - starting with the classic Bond SMP and we'll see where things go from there. Love the Orange PO so that might be next on the list, followed by something a little more dressy, we'll see! So my question is...what else would you recommend one have along with their growing rep collection? This is mostly with regards to spare parts, tools etc. I hear a lot of stories on here about Omega bezels falling off, should I order a spare or two? I also hear about people putting clear nail polish on the bracelet screws etc...are there any other "preventative" measures and spares such as / as well as these I would be advised to look into? I'm buying my watch from a highly-recommended member here, and I trust there being no QC problems - will also post pics when it arrives if people aren't already convinced the SMP content on here isn't sufficient already however, I always like to do what I can to get peace of mind, so if people here advise strongly enough on certain spares and new-watch procedures that should be undertaken I'm keen to learn more. Thanks for any info! -J
  8. Hey all, seasons greetings from chilly London town. Been a fan of watches for a while now but lack of funds has seen me travel down the fashion make route instead of the premium one - a choice that many of you may sneer at but what's a poor man to do? For a while now I have wanted a nice master of the sea, branded after a greek letter, worthy for any good secret agent! Perhaps I shall find what I'm looking for here with your help...
